Questioning it myself, though technically we're already there, since the new systems just install the games to the local storage anyway rather than load the game off the disc to decrease loading time and what have you

@@The7thLevelReviews Well to be fair otherwise modern games would not work. But as long it is a game of the year edition with all DLC on the disc and fully patched then i don't really care about that since we would still own the game even if they go under. To be honest i wanted PC to be my main/only platform because consoles have weak specs 720p 30fps low field of view/settings, no mouse and keyboard support and stuff. but i pretty much despise DRM and don't do netflix and streaming either save for one time out of curiosity and to see if the movies on there were good and if they were i'd buy them because i like ownership of my media. So i'm with Retro monkey on this on. So i only do GOG when it comes to PC which is ( almost ) DRM free save for their achievements which are always online DRM, they don't ask for your personal info like date of birth and let you pay anonymously with paysafecards up to 25 euro's although other platforms allow for simalar payment options aswell allow my VPN ( unlike Playstation and Xbox ) which is outside the 14, 9 and 5 eyes. Sometimes they don't get achievements at all ( or much/years later ) even though all the other versions Playstation, Xbox and Steam and so on do have them. I think this is also a form of DRM to get you to buy the DRM version of the game. From what i heard GOG claims this is up to the devs and they simply do not always get them, and they don't get a lot of modern games either or get them years later.

Ps3 version can go for even more lol

They had no problem with it at 50.00, 60.00, but suddenly 70 is a problem, even though I've yet to.pay 70 for a single ps5 game thus far.

With how Xbox handles physical media (scanning the disk and installing a DOWNLOADED version), the physical-accessing-digital-version policy works best on Steam and Battle-dot-net because of a little something called: CD-KEYS Redeeming a CD-key allows the person to have the digital copy, incase the physical copy breaks. If the disk isn't broken give it to a friend so they can have the PHYSCIAL-ONLY version.

Game pass has released new games day 1 and will continue to do so. It also has older games that were not released at the time on xbox like the yakuza series as well not to mention the old games were most of them have been optimised for current gen. The fact you don't even need an xbox to do this is also pretty cool. 7 months of gamepass equates to 1 ps5 game so if you're a gamer game pass is excellent value if you're a collector is simply not for you

End of the day if Xbox has some good exclusives 2-3 years I’ll buy the series x but when physical games die idk if I’ll continue gaming

8th pretty much only uses his gamepass for Forza Horizon.

Scalpers, gambling, games-releasing broken. Just more of a reason why this is the worst generation especially for consoles and their exclusives (which there are barely any). Another reason why we need to make the law involved to start illegalizing gambling and scalping.

I bought SMT 4 off the 3ds eshop for like 30 dollars or something, who in their right mind would pay over 3x that just to get it physical lol

Evolution of the medium. Most of what you mentioned there started out as side scrolling arcade games. Implementing Uncharted like puzzles wouldn't work too well in the arcade space. Additionally, Tomb Raider and Uncharted are both heavily influenced by Indiana Jones. And even the 2600 game of Raiders had puzzles in it.

I have an issue with its content as well, since I already own most of it, short of The Medium and a couple of Xbox exclusive indies like Carrion. Not even sure if Carrion is still on Gamepass, haven't been in there for like a month.

@@The7thLevelReviews Yeah, I can't say as I've never heard of that game. Still, I got to play Gears 5, Dishonoured 2, Fallout 76, Control, and loads more, for a few quid (what is it a month in dollars?), and while I agree you don't own the games etc...it's not a bad way to try stuff out and get playtime with a lot of game you might otherwise not be able to afford.

Regarding shareware (something I'm not too familiar with as I was exclusively a console gamer until last year and it sounds like a pc thing) can you shareware the big AAA titles?

digital is better if done right. it has to have no drm, physical wastes space in your house and you can only have so much space before you run out of physical space in your house. as your library gets larger it will also get harder to manage.

Well I was trying to not bury it too strongly, but okay: 1) I already own most of what is on gamepass either on PC, PS4, Xbox One, or PS5. 2) The PC gamers I know who have both Steam and Gamepass can't stand gamepass, because unlike Steam, they can't mod the games. DRM overload. Much like how folks who have PS I've talked to aren't huge fans of the PC ports because all they have are Steam achievements, they don't have trophies because they aren't tied to PSN accounts. 3) If the majority of Xbox gamers out there don't care about their achievement score and don't strive to 100% the games they play, what makes you think the majority of them care about these Gamepass quests? If it fun for people who actually give a crap about them? Maybe, I dunno, but that's why I don't consider it either a plus or a minus, it's just kinda there.

And yet I can, if I choose, sell those "licenses" on Ebay or trade them in at a game store for credit, now can't I. And two decades is not completely accurate either, since there are numerous games on PS3 I can point to that had little to nothing installed on the hard drive. Gamepass on PC has the drawback that you can't install mods like you can on Steam, so the folks I know who use it on PC only use it for exclusive titles they can't get on Steam, and since MS currently doesn't have any new exclusives outside of The Medium, what you end up with is my son uses his Gamepass only when he gets a hankering to play Forza Horizon 4. I do my homework, but if something is not relevant to the topics I want to discuss/points I am making, I'm not going to bother. After all, I told you at the very beginning that this was just my opinion. Didn't stop ya though, did it.

A fortunate thing. Scores of digital games out there that arent getting the Limited Run treatment, unfortunately. I really enjoyed Pain on PS3, as one example.

I also bought the Switch Doom collection on Limited Run Games too, hoping to get all my Doom games physically and on game card. I am not that fond of disc compare to game card so I get the Switch collection instead, it'll had Doom 1, 2, & 3 plus all the expansion that are available so far. My hope is that they do Doom Eternal next, even though I got that one on PC already, it would be a joy to get it physically on Switch.

Its not that the music is too loud, its that my vocal audio is too soft. Didn't realize it until after it was already uploaded, sounded fine through my speakers at the time.

I already own most of the stuff on gamepass, either on xbox, 360, xbox one, ps4, ps5, or Steam. Just a small handful of indies is all it offers me.

What?!

Because 1) they're installed on your hard drive. 2) Online verification checks were disabled on Xbox One during the beginning of last generation (originally you had to have your system connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours but hey got a lot of negative press over it so they removed it) but as I understand it, those checks are back on Series X. My comments about that are mostly in reference to MS preparing for the eventuality of streaming the games rather than downloading them.

And yet can still, at this time, be traded in at game stores or sold on Ebay/Craigslist. Not so useless then, huh. But of course, if the entire industry follows gamepass as I predicted would happen 12 years ago, then there won't be a pre-owned market moving forward, or even eventually files installed on the local system, as it will all go 100% streaming, and the days of getting a better deal by buying used, or getting money for new games by selling old ones will be gone, and we'll all have to subscribe to multiple game subscription services just to have the OPTION of playing anything we want, just like with movies and tv shows now. But it's all for the gamers, right?

Not any, only some, if you bought definitive version or a game of the year edition you are buying the full physical game with every issue already fix. If you bought the Switch version of Skyrim and Witcher III, you already got everything from past releases on the cartridge, the updates that came later are just minor game tweaking options which doesn't hamper the game in any way.

@@The7thLevelReviews You make a fair point, but the preowned market has been muddled by patches and such. As I said, we loss as soon as we allowed games to be broken at launch and parsed into dlc. People buy preowned to actually play the game, if the online service disappears and you can't patch the preowned game, it is nearly unplayable. I hate the paid subscription model eating away at all entertainment. I don't see a way out with everyone pretending they have deep pockets.

Oh my point is VERY much valid, as the internet is not a flawless constant. If a system, ANY system, has to be online at all times, anything that affects the connection, affects your ability to play. Some games can be played offline. And for now, if you download a gamepass game, I think you can still play it with the internet disconnected. But when X Cloud hits its stride, and G5 is in full swing, don't be surprised to see Gamepass start to transition to a streaming model as opposed to a downloading and playing off your hard drive model. Its just a matter of time. And Sony will follow suit, they're already streaming PS3 games on PSNow.
