wow 25 bucks, comes with two six button pads, runs everything you could throw at it AND a region switch for JPN Mega Drive carts?! sign me the heck up!

I kinda liked the retro filming of this video. Fit well with the content... Just glad you don't game naked... Hahahaha.

If you want true old school screen capture, record the footage on VHS.

So, I bought the minigen. I suppose they give reviewers a tested unit that they know works because mine is a total piece of crap. The controllers that came with the system didn't work but original genesis controllers did work. I tried many games on it. Only Ms Pac Man worked. Robocop vs terminator, Aladdin, sonic 2, street fighter 2, streets of rage 2 all could not even be read by the system. Total black screen. I cleaned the games and I know these are working games because my brother's gen 1 could run them. I decided to purchase a refurbished gen 1 to replace my genesis that was lost in a move years ago and junk this one. Bottom line. You get what you pay for so buyer beware.

I want a Sega Saturn clone system, and they can do a Saturn with a Genesis both in one clone system will be awesome, in HD of course no less

can you use the everdrive?

I tend to like capturing footage that way (though I can capture it directly into the computer) because I frankly like the organic CRT effect and this is especially true since I run my games through an S-Video adapter which makes the colours pop!

I'll for sure be picking this one up, as it's so much smaller, and will fit right into my retro CRT setup, which has gotten a bit crowded as of recent with various consoles and switch boxes.

Great video. For those who can't afford to get a real Genesis, this budget option seems like the best way to go. Looks pretty decent with your CRT.

I reviewed a similar looking system on my channel (I'll only place a link if @RGT85 himself likes this message but you can look at my channel otherwise) but when I tested my unit it worked with everything I threw at it. Funnily enough I also chose Gunstar Heroes and Sonic (1) to test it out. BUT... when I tried Virtua Racing on it. No luck. It was the only title to fail on my clone console which was the Mega Drive Compact from a company called Columbus Circle. Nice video mate but kinda curious why Genesis/MD won't work on your capture card? My Elgato worked brilliantly in my video.

If they put out an HDMI version I'll grab it.

I would really like to see a Genesis ,32x combo with av,svideo and component out puts to get the full gambit comp,svideo and RGB. Basic component only is sort of MEH on the other hand at this price point the fact that it works at all and has playable audio is nice.

Putting a camera up to CRTs is the best way to capture retro games anyway. Just look at My Life in Gaming, their footage looks great. You need to get yourself a PVM though.

I already have 2 Genises and a emulator on my PC with every Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games and just bought a retron 5. All I need is some tube 📺 and that's hard to find

Hi, I'm from Brazil and I saw you already know about the oficial new Genesis/MegaDrive from TecToy. Well, I have this and as far I could hear this clone system have better sound than the TecToy one. Some games doesn't work properly on TecToy's MegaDrive, and I would like to see you try these games on the MiniGen if you have: - Eternal Champions - Sonic & Knuckles Lock-on with Sonic 3 - Truxton - Virtua Racing - Lion King - Vectorman

Super Steet Fighter also has some special chips. It won't run on the At Games Genesis neither will VR the game genie or any SMS game.

Good to see there's a Genesis / Mega Drive clone system that doesn't have issues with compatibility. I just recently saw another clone system being tested, and it simply didn't run some of the tested games (Technocop, Super Street Fighter II). But on its defence, the main point of that system probably was its built-in games; the ability to run external games was just extra. Instead, the only point of this system is to run external games, so wide compatibility is expected. Off-topic: 8:00 Animation of the audience in Street Fighter seems really simple. Pretty much like in cartoons from 80's and 90's, for example TMNT. Guess the people weren't expected to pay attention to the background, but I always did, and it always bothered me.

I was about to yelling like o no another poor clone console but then,,,I must say not bad and even composite looks damm good.

Might want to try a composite splitter, or a tv with a video out to capture it if you are having troubles capturing from the console.

I'd trust a 25 year old original Genesis than this cheap system. For $25, you can buy a $5 rasberry pi zero, an 8 gig sd card and a USB Genesis controller and change leftover.

Nice, need more controllers for my mega drive, only have 1 thats kinda funky atm. Oh and also please try to check out the rest of their controllers because the price is really low but at that price it´s usually crap from my own experience. If theyre not crap then it would be awesome.

I am not shocked it worked out good.Gamerztek makes an awesome snes clone console that I have been playing the heck out of. I will get this as soon as I get paid. The one I have from atgames is solid,but the music is off in some games. I may buy one for my sisters as well since she loves Sega genesis also.

If you continue to have capture problems, you could get one of those cheap usb video capture devices on eBay. Not awful quality, but obviously not the best either. It beats having to record your tv screen.

Does anybody notice the rainbow banding thing (not sure if that's what it should be called) on the enemy health bar in castlevania? A lot of Sega Genesis and clones have this issue.

Say, RGT 85 if it's that inexpensive why not buy two one for play one for shelves and if great try 32x, and game genie compatibility. really does well grab another requesting a teardown.

Genesis does what capture cards don't. Cards can't handle the BLAST PROCESSING awesomeness of Sega genesis

Oh a lot of us know about castlevania bloodlines outside of the main media. One of my favorite castlevania games. I may pic this up as a backup system.

Sonic doesn't bounce off of springs like that in sonic 2. Something is off. The mechanic is fine, but the animation is completely wrong.

Gunstar Heroes may be my favourite Sega game. Especially 2 player.

Now they just need to slap HDMI on it and it'll be the best modern Genesis, assuming games with special chips work.

I'm going to get the AtGames HD Sega Genesis system first and if that failed to impress me then I may eventually pick this one up. I seriously love the design of that controller so I may pick it up at some point, same for the Super NES clone too.

Shawn for your capture card issue, I would recommend a DVD recorder that has hdmi output, it should be able to output in 480p or 720p

I have a hunch that a 27 year old Genesis is still more reliable than any cheap clone system. I have owned 4 Genesis consoles and have never had a problem. I have never owned a clone system but I have owned cheap electronics, they tend to break. Has anyone had a Genesis malfunction? How about a cheap clone system?
