Do you agree/disagree with my thoughts? Let me know below! I wanna know what you all think could be the answer to this age-old problem.

I mean I kinda agree with your video. I guess alot of people get caught in the loop. Personally I play just about everything my biggest issue is being on a budget I made few bad choices, which has led to me being hesitant to pick a controller back up. Currently playing sinking city, I bought it a while back but never had a chance to play it, the combats not the best but it's a really fun detective game. One issue I had was I wound up letting people online tell me it was a bad game so I stopped trying to give it a chance

you said the quite parts of my thoughts out loud. I have long since come to a similar conclusion years ago and now my biggest issue is what my younger self only dreamed of, having all the games to play! It is a nice problem to have.

Also a problem I've seen is people only look at new games. They might like some type of games but wont expand their horizon to the classics of old. But also great video! A BANGER

Honestly my favorite games are all over the map in genre and release date. MechCommander (RTS combat focused) Halo 3 (FPS) Armored Core (Mecha 3rd person) Metroid Prime (FPS/Puzzle?) Tales of Vesperia (JRPG) Earth Defense Force (TPS / Horde Shooter / Bug Sim?) BlazBlue (Fighting Game PvP) Elden Ring (Souls stuff) Risk Of Rain 2 (Roguelike) And I still enjoy new games a lot. In all of the above genres and more. I just find the big triple A scene to be yikes. Which is why people think games are going to shit. I'd say triple A is going to shit. But we have amazing indie / small dev options now :D

Definitely agree hard on this. This is a mindset I started to take right around when I graduated and suddenly had less close friends to play multiplayer shooters with and the like. Single player games of all types have become my main squeeze now and are super relaxing, even the ones considered hard and stressful by wider audiences. The Souls games have actually become my “stress relief” games and are super relaxing on my mind. I also highly recommend you play Sekiro sometime down the line if you’ve played most of the souls-likes from FromSoftware. There’s a huge learning curve but it is highly rewarding once you master it.

For me its more a culture change from physical media to digital media. I enjoyed getting my monthly psx magazine with demo disc. Was a special event i got excited for. If i really liked something i saw i could ask for it on birthday or xmas. I was in control over my tastes, and social discussion was about discovery n sharing. Now with youtube social media, i just get opinion pieces on games i should like or hate; or i watch other people playing games that i should like or hate... Social interaction is now about group identity politics. 😒

Gracefully placed, as always. I believe that the question ''the games are getting bad'' has a lot to do with growth, both due to the increase in obligations, and the learning process we have gone through over the years. Romeo and Juliet, the first time we saw it, it was groundbreaking, but you can only retell a story over and over until it wears out. And so do games, there are a lot of fps, rpgs and no matter how much ''better'' the industry could be, we will always be a little burnout for the same old things One trick that helped me a lot was, as you said in the video, trying new things. Search for the best games in each genre, and try it for the first time. Visual Novels, ARPGS, Hack'n'Slashes, i would pick the most ''renowed'' games in each category justo to see if it was my cup of tea. And Obviously, not every game will suit you, but even admiting what things you like or not (Actually trying and not going off reviews that dislike it, just prove the thing before you say you dislike Y or Z), The change in perspective not only help you find neat things, but also let you apreciate what you already like even more. A little tip, search for , ''best games of 20xx'', ''Best RPGs'', ''Best RPGs'' and analyse it. If a game is really really good, it may not be always a best seller, but most of the times it will be talked about. Last week i bought SIGNALIS, a game that is not in a genre i've ever tried, but heard about it so many times from different sources that i couldn't help but play it and see for myself. The last game i did this was Disco Elysium, it turned out to be one of the best games i've ever tries in my life Another tip, if you have a friend who play singleplayer games, discuss with him what he/she recommends. It is so good to know more about a friend, and you'll have what to talk about next time you chat

Yeaaah, I seriously never believed this argument. There's hundreds of indies that *always* try something new. Both upcoming and already released. People just love to stick to AAAs and whine instead of just looking around a bit deeper. That being said, I hope stylish action combat comes right back, cuz I've grown really tired of seeing a 50th soulslike being announced this year.
@plaguedocvirtue
@plaguedocvirtue Год назад
Indie games have never been better. Also the AA games are taking the spot of what the big companies were doing in the 90s and the 2000s with better graphics and modern design philosophies and other bells and whistles. Japanese games have also been killing it lately. And we even saw the rise of the Chinese gaming industry which has birthed many great games such as the Gujian series.

This mindset will also help you confirm if you DON'T like something. I was an early FPS adopter, Medal of Honor and such, but...I HATED them. SO much. Now, I refuse to play FPS games unless they have quirks, like how Halo and Borderlands do.

Sometimes, taking a deep dive into something can be so dann worth it. As someone who wasn't into turned based RPGs before as well, I've played Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler for a bit and enjoyed what I've played so far, and it's making me want to try other JRPGs like the Final Fantasy games, or Dragon's Quest. I was never big on the Donkey Kong Country games until I tried them in 2022 and absolutely loved them. I felt similarly with Mega Man X until I tried that game out and loved it too. Speaking of Mega Man, I initially passed on Mega Man and Bass thinking it'd just be a game that would frustrate me to no end. But it ended up becoming one of my favorite classic Mega Man games. Not all games out there are winners, but variety is indeed the spice of life.

Ummm Marsfellas, older/*ahem* experienced gamers like me have had your "persona 5" moments a few times over buddy. We worked out a long time ago what we like and why. We're much busier with life, things don't feel the same not just because of gaming repetition, but the daily grind we have done for decades. Sometimes *oldies* have to stop gaming for months or years and take breaks from the grind before things become exciting again. There are plenty of good games which just don't hit us the same way and for a lot, the impact is gone for good. You are spreading a good msg though, keep it up and good luck in life.

Honestly i hate when people say they hate turn based anime RPGs since 90% of people have enjoyed pokemon. Turn based combat can be pretty engaging when done properly
@Drstrange3000
@Drstrange3000 Год назад
I don't hate all turn based RPGs but they need to be more than the standard RPGMaker combat style. Something like Divinity Original Sin 2, Mario and Luigi RPGs, Earthbound/UnderTale, XCOM 2, and hybrids like Xenoblade and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Turn based games used to be my favorite games ever, and still have a soft spot for them, but I need a bit more now.

I mean, this is a good message for the kinds of people you mentioned but I think you'll run into a different (unexplainable?) reason later in life as to why you lose enjoyment. At least if my own experience is any indication. -- I try all kinds of games and appreciate them, really. But it almost starts to feel like an intrinsic obligation where you try to enjoy gaming because the voice in your head tells you that you need to relax. That feeling of obligation makes it feel like even more responsibility rather than an escape.

Agreed on the idea of just giving games a chance. I played a ton of Bloodborne in 2020 after getting frustrated and abandoning it back in 2015. It was a great experience. Now I'm playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance and really enjoying it even though the beginning was pretty annoying at times. I finished Vampyr before starting Kingdom Come. I played a lot of COD and sports games growing up but I'm branching out more the last few years.

bro this just mean you've played no games. You need more variety, I have like 5 games in rotation at all times. All times.Also Xenoblade Chronicles series is my favorite franchise. You should play all of them and their DLC's if you haven't already. Edit: Great video though, It was engaging.

I disagree lol, I think it's more of your personal problems (well at least prior to you solving it by ended up seeing the best examples of Turn Based RPGs) Not to mention that your selection are always exceptions to the barrages and oddly enough, most of the examples of modern AAA/AA gaming are tend to be Japanese produced or from the retro-like indie department, from the Western AAA sectors, their development courses are often atrocious Yet unlike doomerism of extreme skepticism of wanting to have immediate recovery of the Western AAA sectors, I'm all here for it, I guess seeing it in the more "posadist" kind of outlook are pretty great, these AAA Western giant companies even loosing in capitalist wars against Chinese (mostly Shanghai-based) mobile game industries (especially the ones with gacha systems) Thus I'm supporting Mihoyo's endeavours in video game industry to see how much the scarlet rot will be inflicted from both indie and AAA sides of jealousy to the successes of Mihoyo games (just like how tiktok are skewing the brains of Americans since pandemic lol) It's pretty great to the point that even the cringe-arse twitter/reddit/tiktok character shippers are obsessed over gacha games, and their attitudes to shipping female characters that aren't lolis/lolibabas into being lesbian (even doing death threats and immature rages with one-quip smoothbrainess) are more entertaining to watch than most of "safe" yet unoptimised Western AAA experiences that too focused on photorealism technology that isn't even new, like the frauds they are to demand PC gaming to have RTX 3080 minimum or something when CN mobile games doesn't even need beefy specs to engage with, even if you despise gacha systems :DDD Also please play Fear and Hunger games, Hi Fi Rush and Systemshock remake, they're guaranteed distinctively amazing modern indie video game experiences (that is, if you dislike gacha games, which I don't dislike them :3)

I agree with you and a really good example for that is something that happened to me three years ago. I heard about hotline miami being one of the best indie games of all time and wanted to try it so I checked a playthrough and the top down view shooter play style wasn't that interesting to me. Thought it was a bit too old school and I may not enjoy it that much, so I didn't play it.. a year later I get le perv by carpenter brut recommended to me on yt so I listened to it and that shit slaps and kept getting the rest of HM ost recommended to me and so I thought if the ost is that fucking good then maybe maybe I should try the game.. and so I did and it became one of my top 10 best games I've ever played and it also genuinely changed some of my outlooks on life. and that same scenario happened again with so many other games I've since played like celeste, undertale, hollow knight, and silent hill 2 which is the single best thing I've ever consumed of any media period.. and I would not have experienced these games if I just dismissed them as "it's probably not that good'. So what I'm trying to say is good games are out there in plain sight... you just need to play them.

*I've always been a man who buys maybe 2 or 3 new games a year and I was always happy with that...but this year, there's really only ONE game I halfway want 🕵 and its a Yakuza copy-paste game Infinite Wealth 😂 No matter what genre you like, games just aren't creative enough anymore 💁 its not an illusion and its not a sign to try other genres IMO. to be honest, I haven't been truly EXCITED for a game since Control in 2019* 🕵
