Most Games Workshops have a specialist night once a month for games like Titanicus and Aeronautica. Titanicus tends to cater towards the more mature audience due to the slower pace of game-play and it's more tactical nature. This is a double edged sword in nature: Less munchkins and teenagers, but also a much smaller install base, although that base is hella passionate because of the itch AT scratches. So see how healthy the specialist night is and take it from there.
Titanicus has rapidly become one of my favourite games, not only does it have a phenomenal range of miniatures but is a very enjoyable and highly tactical game - I'd recommend giving it a try. With regards to your questions about terrain, there's an ever expanding range of terrain sets being produced by Games Workshop and Forge World which will give you a great collection that will cover a 4×4 or 4×6 table with very little hassle. Finally, with regards to the weaponry of the Titans being 'limited' - no weapons are 'useless' and a lot of the enjoyment of the game lies in exploring which combinations of Titans and weaponry work for you.
I love the game. I actually find it alot more "Tactical" than 40k. Ive won in lost games where there have been 500 differences between players. 2500 points is awesome and seem consistent with a 40k game at 2k points. I hope the bring back epic with it as well. I think price-wise, the cost of entry is rather cheaper than 40k... (Well, for me cost of entry is a 2k point army)
Interesting! Glad you're enjoying it and getting some good games in! You're right I'm the price, although I wonder what more will be released for this? Who doesn't want to play with titans!!
I really like these overview/short introduction videos. Also very cool having guests that play the game and have experience with it. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
Well there you go, mini titans for all. It seems relatively popular and they have backed it up with a few releases. If you ever give it a go, let me know what you thought of it 😁
AT is a very tempting game. I do wonder if GW are spreading themselves a bit thin with all the specialist games they have on the go at the moment. The content flow for all these systems feels more like a drip at the moment.
@@BroadswordWargaming I've picked it up on the basis that the models themselves are fantastic pieces of kit, but it's currently in an odd limbo compared to specialist games like Blackstone Fortress and Blood Bowl. It doesn't help that releases are being spread between Games Workshop AND Forge World with neither advertising the other's range (I didn't know Forge World produced the Warlord's quake cannon till I came across it by accident). Mostly it feels like a case of GW spreading itself too thin, trying to find that magic game which will be the next 40K without providing the funding needed to support the games that already out there. If that ends up killing off Titanicus then I'm personally done with GW, because with the rules system they have in place they have one of the most balanced, cinematic games system they've ever produced, and it'd be a crying shame to lose that.
Very tempted to pick this up, just concerned that the player count will be quite low. Having said that, I can use the models for my Epic 40,000 collections. Plus the latest starter set is a far more palatable price tag.
Older post, so hesitant to make a comment. I just got into the game and really enjoy it. The new(ish) boxed set GW got right. It's about $126 (independent retailer with 15% off) and comes with the rules, dice, datacards for titans / weapons and 2 Reavers, 2 Warhounds & 2 Cerastus Knights. That single boxed set by itself lets you play medium sized games and the inclusion of a single Warlord or Nemesis gets you to the points where most people play their larger games. You could also simply pick up a few more of the small guys "Knights" (couple boxes) and be done (or buy a second boxed set and be done). That's the nice thing about Adeptus Titanicus, the buy in is A LOT less then it is for 40k to play at the level most people do. The big boys (Warlords, and to a lesser extent Nemesis) isn't an auto win, so if you want to avoid the single model that is a bit overpriced (the Warlords) you can simply do so and not have it hurt you. I found the game pretty easy to pick up, ranking it easier to learn then 40k, AoS, Necromunda but a little harder then say Warcry (haven't played Underworlds so can't comment or kill team). The additional books aren't really necessary and while GW makes you buy the datacards and weapon cards for many of the individual models (like the already overpriced Warlord) there are 3rd Party apps that let you bypass that. The biggest thing holding it back right now is simply not enough players in certain areas, probably attributed to not enough initial interest given that starting set was expensive and probably a turn off.
It’s always a pleasure seeing kaylon on the channel and seeing his wonderful toys , would love to get into the game but suffer from a lack opponents to play against .
I really wanted to get into titanicus as I'm a big fan of epic spacemarine .. unfortunately it was like $500Aud down under to much for me to give it a go.. 😢
Wow. Thats horrendous. I was out in Adelaide a few years ago, didn't even bother with toys haha. But now I'm back in the land of the plenty. Think the price and lack of support put me off anyway though..
I'd play but there isn't enough players and I don't expect it to get sufficient support. I'd have hoped this game would've been the start of Epic 40k but sadly not the case.
I Bought 3 Boxes of Adeptus Titanicus ,The first time they released it , it seems things may have changed , will have to go dig out my old Titaicus stuff out , I noticed a total lack of Armour and inf support , any reason why?
Yeah, there is no armour or infantry in this game. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem I'm the cards. Think it wouldn't mesh well with the current titan based rules.
@@BroadswordWargaming So all them loads of tiny infantry and land raiders, rhinos, dreads and speeders and bikes ,i painted up are still no good , and here was me thinking GeetWank had realised that they messed up and were attempting to put at least one thing right , How nieve am I /
@@loupiscanis9449 Yeah, those tiny people are still must lovely, painted and tiny. I can't speak for the future, especially for this game, but it doesn't seem likely.
Eh... Give it a few more years if Imperialis Aeronautical does well they might eventually do a small scale game with infantry and tanks and then do Epic.
Gold Bug they released a starter set and the warbringer nemesis Titan earlier in the year and have some new knights coming. So it’s still updated but slowly.
@@goldbug371 Titanicus is updated like all other current GW specialist games. You get a release every quarter of the year. So 4 significant updates per year.
Overheating rules sounds like GW ripped off the old FASA Battletech rules. It was always rumoured that the original Adeptus Titanicus was an attempt to compete with FASA back in 1988/89.
I think I'd still stick with the original Space Marine / Adeptus Titanicus from 1980s! So many companies making stuff for it now and huge amounts available for 3d printing. I can see GW abandoning the new version in a year or two the way they have with so many of their other games...
@@BroadswordWargaming ironically that's somewhat apt for me. My love of 40k died in 8th ed, and I hate 9th because the changes were cosmetic rather than structural. 40k now feels like a game that's beer and pretzels at the tactical level, but taxing at the rules level. AT, on the other hand, with its fire arcs and alternating activations flips that ratio, and takes all the good bits of 40k gameplay and adds a layer of tactical finesse that goes beyond strategem choice and target priority, despite having a very stripped down ruleset, that's only detailed where you'd want it to be. It's a 15/10 hecking good game
@@onebigadvocado6376 I know how you feel, I stopped playing in 8th, which was why I moved to playing Heresy stuff. Im trying to get back into it now though. :) I shall have to investigate, as that's one hell of a mark out of 10 haha.
