Honestly warhammer+ absolutely should give you digital access to any tome or codex for AoS and 40K.
@SmashingSnow
@SmashingSnow Месяц назад
That would be ideal and definitely make it worth it
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад
i totally agree, it would feel like a good deal, not a punishment. i have dozens of 40k and sigmar armies, and buy all the books. most people dont. it would make more sense to offer us incentives to pay a monthly fee, not punish us for not buying it!
@fthat5442
@fthat5442 Месяц назад
why would they give it for free when people are willing to pay for it? :P
@unomauhasard5219
@unomauhasard5219 Месяц назад
Yep, i would even be fine with it being mandatory to get the rules if we didn’t have to get the codex. Paper codexes are stupid, they should just be cool arts, paint schemes, lore and stories. Something that you collect because it’s cool and it sells your faction and its units.

GW is one of the most greedy companies I have ever seen lol. We shouldn't be surprised. I had WH+ for about 4 months, it wasnt worth it in my opinion. There's only a few shows on it and once you are finished watching them, there's really nothing; besides paying monthy just so you can make lists for armies (if you have more than one)
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад
i have heard the same thing over and over again. everyone says its cool, but lacks extensive content for sustainability. i like that they pass you a model, and give you options for a second, but its obviously not enough. they should incentivize us, not punish us for not buying it
@masoncarter1710
@masoncarter1710 Месяц назад
I think it's a really stupid decision because it de-incentivises you to buying new models. If you only have one army list at a time, you'll probably stick with one faction and roughly one list, only changing out a few things. If you have multiple, you can create wakey lists and you don't have to worry about losing them for playing games. I have multiple Heresy lists planned for my alpha legion right now and will getting all of it eventually because I like the lists, even the wakey ones where I just deep strike like 20 terminators. I won't be making wakey lists for AoS that make me want to collect more models and I certainly won't be looking at new armies because I can't keep the lists around.

If GW made a blanaced rules set, like most other games makers, they wouldn't have to change the points values. The inshitification of the App is underway, we give you accesss to the platform and then lock it away behind a paywall.

Rules should be free and art / lore books should cost money. Make the codices full of art, army display, paint guides, and a major chunk or lore for each faction and charge for it but make the rules free. I shouldn't have to buy every codex just to know if my opponent is cheating or not
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад
i agree, it should be just like you said. but also you shouldnt have to wonder if your opponents are cheating... sounds like you need new opponents! lol

honestly now I'm just less likely to pick up a second army. also i read if you create a list for every army during the free period from what ive seen on reddit you can still edit the army after it goes paid so hopefully that works but im not down for a monthly subscription just to build list
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад

@JasonM69
@JasonM69 Месяц назад
Yes. Make as many army lists as possible, then you can edit them whenever after the paywall is in place.
@Dorneman

That’s exactly how the 40K app works, so I’m sure they’ll do the same for AOS.
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад
when you say "exactly" you mean, you can only create a single list, unless you have a warhammer+ subscription? that seems insane. if you buy more than one faction codex, then are restricted to a single list, not one per faction, you are getting screwed IMO
@chriscannon7065
@chriscannon7065 Месяц назад
@@WarHammerMancan confirm, even if you have the subscription you can see how the non subscription works. Sometimes the app bugs out a wants you to sign in but it won’t let you and prevents you from creating new lists until you delete existing ones. Fortunately if you force the app to quit and reopen it, it sorts itself out. Edit - you can still see your created lists, though if you had a list created for a faction that was made during index the stats and such are locked when they get a new codex.
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад
@@chriscannon7065 thanks brother, for sharing those details. someone else mentioned that having a new list for each faction during the free period, will let you make lists later. cheers
@fred7371
@fred7371 Месяц назад
@@WarHammerMan worst then you think, you only have access to one list regardless of faction, once the codex or what ever is similar comes out, you get locked out of that faction unless you buy the codex, and even that the codex only gives access to one faction, if recall your still locked to one list unless you subscribe. Honestly there are better options and free, this is a good app but the paywalls ruin it. The models are expensive enough, the codex isn't worth it.

i literally make videos every day about warhammer... this is not a hate Games workshop channel, i just keep it real. but i guess constructive criticism, is me just making "the easiest content" what an NPC thing to say. people like this channel because i tell it how it is. you can clearly see how my attitude towards the app changed at the end, when i realized its a ploy to get people to pay monthly, for what they used to get for free (the app) and already bought (the rules)

You are dead on right regarding book code and automatic access to all online app associated contents for that book. I do think that this is what their intention will be, even without the WH+ subscription. You will, of course, be limited to just one army list, however. Thanks again for your efforts on this channel.

Good point about the having anything more than one army or battletome, but only allowed to build a single army in the app! Especially with the new Spearhead format that really (and I think in a good way) encourages everyone to explore alternate factions! Unless Warhammer+ is about to be a much better deal in some other way, this does seem a very silly limit to have. Thank you for the info 🙂

If it's one sub fee for warhammer + to gain access to 40k and AoS then I'm all for it. It costs money for making the new app, paying people to maintain it and loading updates. So if one sub works across both apps then I think it's great. It'd only be a bummer if you had to pay two different bills, one for each app. Plus I never get bored of Iron Within
@WarHammerMan
@WarHammerMan Месяц назад

It's just like what we've been complaining about in the video game communities for a really long time: excessive greed/ monetization of our favorite games/ hobby. I'll bet GW saw that while gamers may complain about it they'll still pay if they force us to and decided to copy them. The only way to get these companies to listen is to stop paying them but unfortunately they know that that is never going to happen because we love playing their game too much so we'll just keep playing.

@Griffonbait
@Griffonbait Месяц назад
You are not being scammed. Your choice of buying, or not, will come from your expected enjoyment in whichever way you decide. If you want a hardback battletome, then buy one - this is my preference, being an old fart who loves the tactile feel of book in hand and the in-person visual impressions that PDFs, etc., just don't give you on a small screen. If you want a hardback battletome just because you want the code, I suggest going to alternative code-bearing data locations/apps as suggested by others in the comments. In the past, we never had such apps and everything was hand/spreadsheet driven - which is still the best way to start understanding list building (also a very tactile experience), which can then be checked against such an app (if it is indeed correctly applying the army creation rules).

@@Griffonbaitthat is the most boomer response ever, “if you don’t like it, don’t do x”. Or “this is the way it’s been done forever, so deal with X”. He has valid/logical arguments, and your arguments, while logical, completely miss the criticism of his.
@Griffonbait
@Griffonbait Месяц назад
@@NexUtInfinitus LOL. Thanks for the laugh - gaslighting and ad hominem-based attacks are funny, especially when they come from out of nowhere as an attempt to invalidate comments. I am not a boomer, FYI, I may be old, but I am not that old. Clearly, you have nothing of importance to say, hence the gaslighting and personal attack on me, suggesting that, by age alone, my comment is not worth considering. How age-ist of you! LOL The gaslighting statement: “if you don’t like it, don’t do x” - this is a typical statement made by the wo,ke, just before they lose a lot of money. Just look at all the failed movies recently where actors/actresses said this type of thing to the fans - or computer games, when it is said by the developers! The fans did what they suggested, and their products failed. This is how people work; they see something they like, they get it, and if they don't like, then they don't get it. I would be interested in hearing how you would characterize the situation. It sounds like you are suggesting: "if you do like it, or don't like it, then don't buy it". Haha. Tell that to everyone and every company. ROFL. You clearly do not buy anything. How are you still alive? Do you buy food that you like? Surely not! Such boomer-ism! But enough of this nonsense. Let's look at the original comment, shall we? "I'd consider buying a battletome but I dont lke being scammed." "I'd consider buying a battletome" - all well and good! "but I dont lke being scammed." - where is the scam when buying a battletome? The inclusion of a FREE redeemable code is a recent development. It is a _bonus_ , not included in the pricing structure of the battletome. GW doesn't have to supply any code, and could, heaven forbid, require paid subscriptions of all users of their apps. If a purchaser buys and receives the ordered item, then you cannot claim it is a scam, pure & simple! It is hilariously sad these days (you have to laugh, otherwise the world will drag you down into a pit of despair), that people complain about not getting enough of the FREE stuff! Complaints are _only_ valid when about not getting the stuff actually paid for in the first place!
