the last manager in my local GW store was very good at intro games, especially when teaching young children. She explained everything really good and she made sure to lose against them. She had some modified data cards where her units were slightly worse and the kids slightly better, she made some "tactical errors" like not taking cover and I am pretty sure her dice were weighted to roll worse. Too bad she quit
For the last story. I was in the same spot. A friend died. And i was given his 10k sisters of battle. They sit on my shelf and dont get used as im more into HH. But a guy i know wanted to play them. I didnt ask anyones permission because the one who mattered is gone. And at the end of the day. If he gets enjoyment from those models then they are being used as intended, for fun. Not to sit on my shelf as a large Urn, or shrine to a lost friend.
I was just saying while watching that last video of the guy trying to get back into the hobby with his wife after throwing away his old minis that you can use counters and use the online rules. If playing the game is what is most important then you don't need to spend money on the minis. Print some stickers representing the units, slap them on the plastic bases of appropriate size - enjoy! 3D printer goes brrrr? I say regular printer goes brrrr. Personally I could use my original release Epic scale minis as proxies. Epic is apparently back. Use those and slap em on the regular bases. Do a hawk tuah and spit on that GW.
@@Raygun9000 Yes , I say use the actual bases because you can have the right size of bases for measuring and also at least you can have some amount of ambiance in the game.
I remember losing my intro game as a kid and loved it. I had a squad of black templars vs his dark eldar and the dice gods must have been in his favour as i didnt kill much and their shooting killed almost all of my squad till i had a single marine. My single marine then seemed to survive two turns despite being surrounded in combat and the manager really sold the story of this marine having an amazing last stand against all thr dark eldar. Was enough for me to get the 3rd edition box set.
The fact that North was completely speechless for several seconds and could barely say anything besides "ew" about the dice is absolutely hilarious to me
That first story is exactly why games workshop should not be hiring people who play the game hardcore. Games Workshop really needs to filter for clueless morons. Is this sort of thing not teachable during training? The instructions need only be: 'Here's how to do a demo game folks. JUST DO IT THIS WAY!'
why was this guy mad at jenson for getting some models? when you just wanted to sell them for yourself. as if you just sell the treasured items of a friend you mourned. bullshit
I Seriously wonder if the manager from the first story would have enough of a clue about the CP guy in the second story despite whatever training games workshop administers. If the manager guy is not sticking to the training from games workshop about demo games, then is he really going to pay attention to what he needs to do when screening for CP guys?
I remember this guy was trying to play 8th for the first time. He was in his 20’s so not a kid. The one “teaching” him was one of the local meta chasers who bought and sold armies regularly and only spray painted them to a minimum. This game the meta guy had custodes with the Forgeworld tanks. While I watched the meta guy would advise the new guy where to move and dissuade him from moving into ruins. Basically he was telling the new guy to move his models into open zones which allowed him to shoot him to pieces and then say “see that’s why you shouldn’t of moved there and now next time you will know not too.” The meta guy claimed he was doing the “you learn from mistakes” idea but it just was bulling as far as I could see. The new guy just got obliterated turn after turn and I could see the devastation on his face and felt so bad for him.
Recently stumbled across your channel, really enjoying these stories. Do you have any other B roll (even if it's just you on a pogo stick)? Yes I'm one of those weird ones that watches the video 😛 Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next round of stories.
My city had a pedophile that lurked around the Magic the Gathering tables. He tried to play too but he was terrible at the game and his turns took a long time. He wasn't there to play the game. He was there to find victims. He'd try to talk to ever under aged girl that came in. Fortunately he was banned.
if those friends woulda been willing to help dude in last story out he wouldnt of had to sell his models. he was brave in admitting im not doing well i had to sell my stuff that i love to live, and in their blindness they were complete dicks crying about sold plastic instead of saying how can we help you out man? sometimes even good people suck, and then there is the rest of em lol
I love so much this youtube channel! Its what I listen when I paint :D and when I run out of videos from you north, I listen to lore videos :P! You're essentially as interesting as WesHammer!
If you like lore videos I recommend somebody like Arbitor Ian. Guys like Weshammer don't do any research, they just read wiki pages which are full of stuff made up by users and not taken from any official material.
