I heard of the Atelier series a while back around 2014 but never got around to it. When atelier ryza 3 was coming out I saw insane hype around it from the media I followed. I wanted to enjoy it but just put it off. I picked up ryza one day on sale and was absolutely in love with it. I proceeded to do a bunch of research and found so many joyous reviews of the series overall, which led me to buy most of the games in hopes of 100% them all one day. Now I've given up that goal for now at least because I decided to start with Rorona and I would rather pull my own hair out then try and 100% that game with the guides I found so far. This didn't stop me from enjoying that one so much and moving into Totori next. I am currently playing through Totori. I started blind and then after much confusion I realized I managed to brick my run for the most part. Now I'm starting over with a guide and have had tons of issues with it and honestly.... I'm still enjoying the game somehow. Something about it is just a good atmosphere that even with these older less user friendly titles that I'm starting with, the series is enjoyable.

my first ever Atelier game was "Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny" i had never heard of Atelier games until this Iris prequel, just found it one day in a game store back when PS2 was current. Literally judged it by its cover buying it, loved it but couldn't beat final boss. I lent it to a friend back in high school, they apparently were being transferred to a different school and I had missed their last day when they tried to return my game. flash forward many years later on a valentine's day, my boyfriend at the time and I were in a game store, he saw Azoth of Destiny and got it for me. I still kept my PS2 slim, its memory card with save file all those years. being more experienced gamer now I cheesed the final boss crafting a bunch of elixirs >:3

I loved Atelier Iris series and the sortof off series they did called Mana Khemia. Both are older but the gameplay was so much fun!

I started Atelier of Rorona yesterday, and have been playing it for hours. So far it's a pretty fun game with a nice, relaxed vibe & setting. The countdown is a mechanic is interesting, and the game as a whole is a different type of experience that I haven't had in an RPG before. I like it.

I totally recommend this game, it is really good *-* but it is better to start with rorona, so everything feels more understandable =D thank for the review dude =)

I have never heard of this series before. Thanks for letting me know. I will put it on my wishlist for the switch. I gotta finish Valkyria Chronicles 4 first though.

I bought Atelier Sophie for PC and Aterlier Lydie & Suelle for Switch a while ago, but haven't gotten to either. Once I can get a proper taste of the games I plan to jump on this Trilogy.

Ryza was dope, might try this or the dusk trilogy a shot. I'm a big fan of older RPGs and the alchemy loop is weirdly enjoyable.

I want these games but Atelier Lydie and Suelle is a little underwhelming and this is digital only... don’t really wanna spend $90 on them.

I really want to get them on PC or Switch and plan to play this to introduce me to the series then to play Mysterious trilogy then to go ahead on Lulua and maybe Nelke, but the 90 dollar price point is deep and even with how Steam works if I get only Rorona now and the other two later I end up spending more than if I bought the whole trilogy alone.

I wish I could buy these games on switch but because I’m 16 and in Australia for some reason both Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori are Rated R18+ so the Eshop won’t let me even look at them.
@JRPGGaming
@JRPGGaming 5 лет назад
Ugh, I hate our ratings board. The worst part is that when Totori first launched here on the PS3 it was given an MA15+ rating (before we had R18+) but when the Plus version came out on Vita they reclassified it as R18+
@kingsora1390
@kingsora1390 5 лет назад
Jay RPG yeah it’s honestly the worst and I looked it up and there isn’t anything that could really give it an R rating which just sucks and the switch is the perfect console for Atelier, I’ll find a way to play haha

I'm hoping the next Arland game has an English cast. The last one not having one kind of put a sour taste in my mouth.

Hi, im on a verge of buying the arland trilogy in my switch. I already finish the dusk trilogy and i absolutely love it, the story, characters , humor, and gameplay i love the dusk trilogy. I tried the mysterious series as well , done with atelier sophie and firis, and halfway on lydie and sue unfortunately i didnt enjoy the mysterious trilogy unlike the dusk series. Once, a friend saw me playing lydie and sue and he ask why am i playing a girlie game LoL 😂 Have you tried the dusk trilogy as well? is the arland story as good as the dusk? are the characters have an interesting background story? i hope u respond thanks 😊

if you are a true Atelier fan you will enjoy this one as well of course. Atelier is about alchemy and the story is a plus. It's all about grinding. You're welcome :-). And don't care about that friend. It's not his business what you like. Nuff said

I just played through the Plus games on PS3/Vita recently and was excited to go back through them again on PS4, but these are a rip-off. I was expecting $40 for the compilation, but nope. They're $40 each, or $90 for the bundle. At that price, I'll just stick with my last-gen versions. Koei-Tecmo doesn't deserve this franchise.

I liked most of Ateliers but what i would really want would be another Mana khemia ( on switch of course ) that said I have high hopes for Lulua .. we will wait and see I guess. Maybe we will ( you will be ) lucky enough to see you play some kind of exclusive demo like you did with Little dragon cafe and DQ and have a good idea of what we're getting into. ( Btw I was freaking jealous when I saw you play DQ hahaha and thanks for the hard work love your vids. )

It's annoying how the second enhanced port still has DLC. All the Vita DLC should have been included IMO.

Enjoying my time with atelier rorona so far. Definitely would’ve been better if the DX trilogy were physical because unlike most modern gaming systems Nintendo is horrible in having good system storage. 32GB is not enough for this day in age Nintendo. For whatever reason for me the 1st 2 arland games being downloaded onto the system memory thus leaving me with no memory capacity. Probably was due my 128GB sd card not having enough space for the 2 games but I’m not sure.

Do you have to play them in a certian order?
@JRPGGaming
@JRPGGaming 5 лет назад
It's probably best to play them in order of release (Rorona > Totori > Meruru) but you certainly don't *have* to. I played Rorona and then Meruru, basically skipping Totori altogether and I still enjoyed Meruru. :)

Consider doing the legend of heros: trails of cold steel chapter 1 & 2. re-release for ps4 and the upcoming 3&4 and the legend of heros: trails in the sky 1-3 on pc since there is a story arc between both games mind you

Atelier is a great game, however in all it's series, they're pretty much the same especialy their graphic engine and gameplay. i feel like they're being super lazy and milking the franchise way too hard. (reminds me of Dynasty warrior from KOEI) which releasing so many atelier games in just over a couple of years. i mean, compare to other great titles like Ys, xenogear/saga, suikoden or even final fantasy. their new games always introducing something new and have a significantly graphical changes.

I got super bored of it, it didn't hold my interest for a huge amount of time. But it's not the worst RPG. Though I can't help but think it's catered to the bloke in the basement who can't move out lol.
