One of the issues with leaving a thicker case on is the angle that the USB c port sticks into the phone. It seems they designed it to be parallel as to not put stress onto the wafer inside of the phone. I cut the rubber feet away on the USB side of the controller and it fits my case np. They can easily be reglued if needed. Another thing I noticed without a case, all of the spring tension was placed on the USB c port and the inside of my phone.(pixel 7 pro). There was a "large" air gap of 1-2mm. Could have caused issues in the future.
I got this controller coming tomorrow! Also guys, if it's anything like the Gamsir X2, you can actually very easily "mod the USB C length", allowing for slightly larger cases. You can do this by removing the rubber padding that is to the left and right of the male USB C. It'll only take you about a minute to remove, with a sharp razor blade. It's only held there by glue. For reference, I have a Spigen Tough Armor case [w/ hinge protection] on my Galaxy Z Flip 4. With the rubber removed, the phone can connect to the controller with the case left on. I'm sure it can be done with the Gamesir G8 too. [I found an old LG G4 in my draw, running on Android 6 MM. I am using my PC as a central server with Sunshine, and also have a USB C -> Micro USB adapter, with OTG support, coming tomorrow. I'm hoping to DIY a cloud steam deck with this controller + the LG G4. If it works I'ma replace the battery to a 36000mAH one too].
It’s a great product. I just wish it was basic black and some other cosmetic preferences, but hey, that’s life. I’ve had two backbones and this is less elegantly designed but more functional.
I have it and it is awesome. Most annoying thing is that Gamesir doesn't offer a carry case for the G8 and it doesn't fit any standard cases because ift its awkward size... I happily would have paid $10 more if it came with just a simple hardshell.
If I had known about this controller yesterday I would've bought it. I ended up purchasing a rig nacon Bluetooth controller for my phone. I have a spare pixel 6 that I've decided i wanted to setup for gaming and emulation. Purchased the nacon because its more similar to an actual xbox controller than these other ones with the layout but not the feel. I'll probably test the nacon out for a day or 2, but I'm honestly considering returning it and getting this instead. Theyre around the same price so why not lol
Nice review. Your the only reviewer that used a ROG Phone which I do have as well. I wanted to ask what version of ROG Phone do you have? I have a ROG Phone 7 as of the moment. Does the Armoury Crate app consider the controller as a Kunai 3? I have read some reviews that it had but I just wanted to confirm if it does with you as well.
Thank you! I'm using the ROG Phone 5, and my Armoury Crate app does not recognize the G8 Galileo as the Kunai 3. I'm not sure if it is because my ROG Phone 5 not supporting the Kunai 3 or just my phone becoming obsolete lol
@@GamersClinic Thanks for your update but I tried buying anyway. Just info for everybody - right out of the box, the G8 Galileo is being detected and supported in Armory Crate on ROG Phone 7. No need to install the GameSir App.
It only works with iPhone cases that are not thicker than 1mm measured from the outermost of the usb-c port of the phone. If only it was another 1mm longer, it should work with a lot more cases... Fingers crossed GameSir gets it right with their next telescopic controller.
It is too huge to be called mobile, almost like steam deck, but SD is a mobile PC and this is just big controller. Still waiting for Kishi v1 with mini jack.
I saw this other video on another channel where he modified the springs at the back and it could fit up to 10" tablets. It doesn't look difficult, but I probably would try it if I can find the video again 😄
Looking at most of the cases from Mous, I'm guessing it probably will not fit as their cases look thicker than 0.15 mm at the charging port area. To be able to use with the case on, the cases needs to be < 0.15mm from the phone to the "edge" of the case (if this makes sense). 😅
Hi. It works with the Xiaomi 13, but as for the emulator support, you will need to check with the developer of the emulator if the emulator app has native support for controllers. (The phone will treat the G8 Galileo as an external controller) Hope this helps 😁
It's probably the best Mobile controller 🎮 out there but the issue is the Dpad. I play cvs2 on emulation and its not great to perform special moves. I wish the controller had a better dpad and to switch Dpad like how you can switch the analog sticks
If my iPhone 15 pro max with an Apple silicone and a tempered camera glass on the back, will it fit? Not touch the bar flexing bar and doesn’t fit too tight fit?
Anyone Help! Why does this work on other people's Iphone but it wont work on mine. I have an Iphone 15 pro. I already tried the different mode/settings like blue, green and white corresponding to what phone I have. I used white but also tried the green and blue ones. But still to no avail😢
@@amongOSO Hi, no still the same it won't work. My IOS is updated and what I'm wondering is why it will work on some Iphone. That is what I don't understand.
just bought the galaxy g fold 5 ...have a case and it doesnt work usb c doesnt connect just to let gamers with a phablet know its not a good choice. the case i have seems thin enough but gonna keep looking for something thinner.
I have a fold 5 + the Samsung case w/ stand. Removed the rubber to the left and right of the USB c port and it works with the case on! Try it out before you leave the g8 in your closet forever.
Yes i don't understand at such price they don't make a controller with the most silent as possible button pressing sound. What's the use of gaming if you will be annoyed by the clicking sound and would disturb and annoy people around you. Until now I'm looking for a silent type of controller. Any recommendations?
It only works with iPhone cases that are not thicker than 1mm measured from the outermost of the usb-c port of the phone. If only it was another 1mm longer, it should work with a lot more cases... 😂
@@GamersClinic I am :-) for me personally, ps portal has no sense if it does only one thing. If you have ipad mini 6 just spent 60-79$ for gamesir and start gaming :-)
You seem to have some unrealistic expectations. There is NO product on earth that is immune to the occasional lemon making it out of the factory. It happens. Going by your logic, every device created by every company ever is trash. Because it happens with anything mass produced. That's why warranties exist. Did you even contact them about it? Based on the fact that you're whining about the device itself, rather than any refusal on their end to resolve the issue, I doubt it. A company isnt "trash" because a defective unit inevitably slips past QC once in a while, they suck if they don't make it right when it happens.
