Anyone use this for Sports games. I just bought this to replace my original Xbox series controller that has major drift issues which just happened to be two days past its warranty end date. (Luckily they were willing to honor the warranty still) Anyways I mainly play NHL so if anyone has experience what would be some good settings to use/try. Thanks,
@@chillnjazz8794best in price range hall effect triggers and thumb sticks are a huge w plus it has its own software and the back buttons are good for shooter games etc
I thought I broke my SE when I made my own custom control freaks 🙃... but it was 100% because i put deadzones to 0 by mistake when I meant to put my Triggers at 0... and this video saved me a head ache
@@ilewisjr i dont use 0 anymore because it caused slight drift. I personally dont have complaints about the controller at all... i tried using a xbox xs controller yesterday and it felt like complete junk after getting used to the g7SE
@@ilewisjr i think the reason it could feel slow are other factors that i can't think of atm like possibly stick acceleration or something like that. Do you play on xbox or pc?
I thought Hall Effect sticks don't get stick drift. Is it because you're using raw mode or is the ring you installed on the stick causing the stick drift? I just received my G7 SE today and will be plugging it in tomorrow to check for firmware updates etc. Hopefully this is a good controller without stick drift issue.
Hey so I’ve put on about 60-70 hours of serious game time on mine, and the recenter spring has lost some tension. The drift I have is only at rest and some in game deadzones get rid of very easily. This kind of drift is. It game breaking as it won’t affect you aiming, like a worn out potentiometer would be unusable. I’m working on a video comparing potentiometer to Hall effect, but I need to put a lot more hours on my Hall effect sticks first.
There is a menu to test and calibrate in the nexus software it is in the upper right corner under the science beaker looking tab shaped kinda like this 🔼 it helped me fix my circularity error because mine is used and was never calibrated since previous owner
Bro its insane how good this controller is for the price, quality wise will show in a longer testing period but the feeling is just pure joy 🎉 Barely touched a controller since bo2 on x360 and back then i used a scuf so ill diy a pair of trigger stops on this but DAMN im in love, thanks for the tips!
Another awesome video! Thanks for the tips and pointing out your cod settings as well i will definitely check it out and adjust my settings again! Great quality video!
Hey bro I personally like the galaxies and for G7se you need PlayStation ones. Be careful where you buy them from as I’ve learned there are a lot of fake ones specially on Amazon uk, I have a video review of Kontrolfreeks on my channel, I explain a bit more in detail in it.
@@thephototechy Thanks for the response, I just bought them from Amazon but I am from the U.S. but I'm sure they have fakes on here too. It appears as though it's from the official KontrolFreeks store though. Thanks for the info!
@@thephototechy Very difficult aiming with this contoller, not exactly sure why. The aiming speed of Scuff's feels more stable than this controller. It's responsive, hard to control, however..
Hello buddy. I have a problem with this gamepad. When I press the d-pad down, I double-click on the left side of the d-pad. The d-pad to the left works. Can you help me what can be done in this case. You can take it apart and come up with something. In my opinion, there is a very sensitive membrane there It’s worth it. If you know where to buy a replacement, I’ll be glad.
Hey it’s something I’ve experienced as well in COD. Pressing left or right on Dpad sometimes presses the top as well. Someone pointed out an option of dpad diagonal lock in Nexus and it’s supposed to help with this issue. I haven’t tried it properly yet, as currently playing MW3 beta on PS5. I’ll be using the G7se and Snakebyte’s gamepd pro when the beta is live on Xbox, as the new game needs alot of aggressive right stick movement, way more than any other COD. I’d say try the Dpad diagonal lock option first. I’ve opened this controller and seen the membrane for the DPAD, I do wish they had used the conductive metal dome film underneath it, like the standard series controller and even the normal G7, but we have what we have.
Thank you, my friend, for the answer! I will try to put something under the crosspiece in the form of a rubber ring or other material that would push the crosspiece away. If you also think of something, record a video on this problem! Thanks for your Video!@@thephototechy
Hey sorry for my poor English I just want to be sure I understood correctly, my aim feel weird since I bought the g7 se, so should i put normal stick not using raw mode and performing calibration even if it’s a brand new controller to get the snappiest effect I had on a normal controller or just put normal stick and using raw mode ? Also I’m on 6.26 version should I update to 6.30 I already have 1000hz option with 6.26 version. Thanks a lot for your video
@@Coukinou34 hey bro, so raw mode will make it a bit more responsive feeling. So if you do find it sluggish then definitely try raw mode. Using raw mode might also need you to increase minimum deadzones, as it can also increase the amount of register at rest position. If your controller is not showing signs of stick register getting stuck even when sticks are centred, then keeping at 6.26 should be fine, if you have the 1000hz enabled. Calibrating is a good idea even if the controller is new, just to be sure the centre points are adjusted correctly and max values reaching when they are supposed to. I’d also recommend doing the calibration after some use, so once the spring lost tension, you might find you need to adjust that centre point again.
How often should we calibrate? Just when we feel like there’s an issue or should we just do it every once in a while to ensure it’s preforming properly? Or maybe after every update?
Hey so initially I had to do some regular calibrations, but with firmware updates and the spring finally getting to the most loosest position, now I don’t seem to need one in the last month or so. I made a video on how to chose a new centre point for the sticks doing the manual calibration, that’s probably the best reason to recalibrate or if you use linear trigger press and find them acting up then yes recalibrate. Other than that HE sticks aren’t losing any resolution and going out of calibration for me, I’ll be making a video discussing the Ksilver JH16 modules and their characteristics in detail soon.
I just got this and am having trouble with the left trigger. When I press it it doesn’t have the full range that the right trigger has. On full press right trigger reads as 255, but the left stops at 175, regardless of how hard I press it. Deadzones are all set to 0 atm, I tried the deadzones/trigger range you recommended and had the same results
The calibration process will not work for me no matter what I try. However! I do have trigger stops installed on my RT and LT. Could that have anything to do with the calibration not working? Cheers!
Hello, I updated my gamesir G7 se controller to firmware version v6.25 and several bugs started to appear, I can't play, how do I solve them? I really need help
Hey please try the manual calibration method I’ve shown in this video. When you do the calibration make sure gamesir nexus is not running. There is an option of calibration through the software but doing it that way made my triggers not work, I should’ve mentioned that in the video 🤦🏾♂️. After the manual calibration test the controller on gamepd tester and nexus software. It might take a couple of tries to solve it.
I think you missed one step under sticks, under the bar values you can click on default, the triggers go to Zero all the time when you click on default for stick values. Have you seen an improvement with this selected?
Not sure if you’ve answered this but I use precision rings on my right thumb stick and on this controller the sticks seem to be shorter and it’s a bit tight using the precision ring. Do you remove the anti-friction ring to make a bit more space for your precision ring?
Hey I was doing that before the 6.25 update, it’s something I showed in my aiming update video. After the 6.25 update the active area is a bit smaller so I don’t feel the need to remove the anti friction ring. If you do want to remove it then try doing the calibration without the precision ring as well. There are so many possibilities with this controller with the manual calibration options.
@@thephototechy thanks for clarifying that! Just got the controller and even with the stock 265hz I can feel a noticeable response time difference between it and my elite series 2. When the 1000hz update is available do you know if that will only work for PC or will it work on a series s Xbox?
Hey so I was told by someone that Xbox max supports 250hz only. I believe when Gamesir release the 1000hz option it'll only be in the PC nexus software. But I could be wrong and it might actually appear on Xbox as well. I know dualsense edge is 1000hz as standard according to my Xinput tests, which makes me believe PS5 is supporting higher than 250hz. it's a fair assumtion to think Microsoft might be working to match that and the delay for 1000hz is not Gamesir but Microsoft taking their time. Hopefully we'll see soon enough what happens.@@rwboutdoors8867
Hey yes there is the calibration option there, but I’ve had an issue where my triggers stopped working after doing the nexus calibration. So reading the gamesir website mentioned this method, and this fixed the issue for me. The trigger issue happened before the new update, so it might be ok now. Still gamesir seems to mention this method on their website instead of the nexus.
@@thephototechy I see, I happen to have a second G7 SE still sealed, I just updated it and I got the same problem you described after the update, triggers not working properly. Using the nexus app is not as effective as the manual method you showcase here, weird but it works. Thank you.
Hey I find the Ksilver modules to have lighter tension than the normal alps in Xbox controllers. It did take me a bit to adjust to, specially when you are using Kontrolfreeks, I guess the extra weight of them makes a bit of a difference. Definitely one of the lightest tension sticks I’ve used.
Honestly I don’t think so, the benefits of a Hall effect analog stick is to minimize drift but sometimes it feels a little stiff. Maybe I need to re calibrate lol
0? That isn’t encouraging stick drift? Because the claims on the sticks is there won’t be any stick drift. Yet in the Nexus app, it says if you set it below default sensitivity, you might get stick drift. and you just encouraged going to the lowest settings, so what am I missing here?
Hey so a 10% deadzone will make the controller feel very sluggish, it did to me at least, to the point where I thought it was missing inputs a lot for aiming. Keeping it at 0 introduces drift, but that’s only at rest position and doesn’t interfere with aiming, as when you move the stick that drift has no impact on it. So if you don’t like the drift at rest, I’ve suggested using in game deadzone settings instead of the nexus deadzone. Don’t forget some games might have a minimum deadzone engaged which can’t be turned off, so keeping nexus deadzone at 10% and in game applying let’s say a 5%, you’ll end up with a 15% deadzone. The suggestions are meant for the people finding the controller sluggish or very different to use. If you are happy with the standard performance from the controller, then definitely don’t need to do anything. I know myself find it very strange playing on HE sticks currently as they’re a bit different to normal sticks.
Hey bro, in 1000hz it can feel like it’s easier to get out of the aim assist bubble. But we do have more precise control over aiming for sure. I don’t think there’s less aim assist in 1000hz as I tested for it.
Hey yes definitely doing that very soon. I've had many issues with the controller and all seems to be software related. I did manage to get a good amount of game time with the correct response of the sticks. I didn't want to make a bad review as all the other reviews seems to be very positive, but I'll be explaining in detail whats happned to me and potenially what to look out for.
I just bought this controller and noticed right away my left trigger was to shoot, and every now and then certain input I was pressing would proc. I looked it up on Reddit and found others with the same issue. If you update the controller to most recent one, it fucks it all up
Hey so if you go to the edge browser on Xbox, the standard is mouse behaviour of the left stick, we need to press the menu button and chose game controls for it to behave like a controller in the browser. So we can change between the modes.
Hey I use kontrolfreeks green precision rings, they are the softest ones. I prefer them coz you can easily play without them as well and not miss them that much. Getting used to a new controller helps a lot with these and if you want to you can play without them and not miss them. The purples will be difficult to play without if you get used to them.
thank you for your reply. I hope you could help me out with an issue i am facing. so i plugged this controller on my pc and the led light is on constant blink and also i am unable to make it work on gamepad tester website. do you by any chance know how to fix it?@@thephototechy
Hello, I have a problem. I bought the G7 but the aim assist does not work on the computer. I changed the aim assist from Default to black ops but it does not work. The cursor does not track the player when he moves. I contacted technical support and filmed a video, but their response was that Check if the game supports aim assist or not
Hey aim assist should be slowing down when near the target, you can check this in firing range by moving the stick in a constant speed, you’ll see when the aim reaches near the targets it slows down.
@@thephototechy I contacted the company, and after long conversations, they asked me for a video clip, and in the end they told me that the controller is not compatible with the game, so the aiming assistant does not work. This is the worst thing I have seen.
I recalibrate the controller when is was playing raw mode off but now I’m playing in raw mode should i recalibrate the controller with raw mode on ? Also I have the 6.28 gamesir app should I update it to 6.30 ?
Hey I’ve had issues with the app messing with my triggers, once it completely disabled them with no register at all. If you do the calibration through the nexus app, then definitely check everything works absolutely perfectly. Doing the manual way has worked every time.
Hey so this wasn’t added with the 6.25 version and I haven’t seen anything about a time frame for this feature. Honestly a lot of people are waiting for this and probably purchased this one due to that promise, when we get it only Gamesir knows.
Hey the raw mode mimics the normal stick’s behaviour, so if there is no restriction on the sticks, they’ll make a square which is around 21% error rate. On the normal sticks most times the physical thumbstick gate is the outer deadzone and it makes the shape similar to the raw mode. If you are ok with the circular outer deadzone and don’t feel the aim a bit sluggish, then definitely use that. Raw is an amazing option for people finding it difficult on the circular outer deadzone, and they can have that familiar aim feeling.
How is the hair trigger supposed to work mine doesn’t feel any different when I toggle it on and off? how can I test it is working properly? this is a new controller.
Hey so hair trigger is an amazing option and it’ll work with in the parameters you set. With the normal linear trigger you’d have to release the trigger all the way back and press again to register another press, with hair trigger on you can let the trigger go anywhere with in the min max value and press again for another press. It’s something I showed on the video as well.
Any idea why my left thumbstick might stick to the rught? When its pressed down, I hear a ratter loud click. The right thumbstick when pressed down doesn't make the same clicking sound. Any ideas?
@@thephototechy That’s weird because I already have the option to select 1000 Hz in the Gamesir app. I’m hesitant to update because I don’t want the stick sensitivity to feel different after the update. Do you think its safe to update?
i feel my aim in COD is kinda twitchy sometimes because of how fast the sticks ramp up to 100% any ideas on a fix? The stick reads 100% around 70% of the way
@@CursezZz hey that’s honestly sound strange. When you check on gamepad tester do you see a linear response all the way out? Also please try HCI design webpage I’ve linked below. This one can show every incremental value within 1%. A normal calibration of G7se should show a .5 to .6 jump for every increase as the resolution sorta sits at .56. Let me know if you can see a proper .5 to .6 increments. I made a video on sticks resolution for stealth ultra and showed a bit of this website, it’s actually a good tool. I do hope we can get to the bottom of this. hcidesign.com/gamepad/
Hey I had an issue with another controller not working on PC for testing, I had to uninstall it from the device manager and reconnect for it to work. I only play on console and use PC just to test, so I don't know all the methods of fixing connection issues.
Hey bro I just got the controller finally but for some reason on cod it feels really slow and sluggish and doesn’t really respond well even when I’m on 0 deadzone in game and app. Do u have any idea what it could be?
Hey have you tried the raw mode yet? I couldn’t get used to the normal circular outer deadzone mode, it felt too slow. Check that you are on version 6.25 and update if necessary. Check the result in game pad tester and you should be reaching the max values a bit before the physical thumbstick gate.
Hey that’s not a normal behaviour, if the cable is plugged in properly and still it keeps disconnecting then definitely reach out to gamesir for a replacement
I have tried to calibrate on PC many times, but every time I unplug the controller, it forces me to do it again, and it hasn’t appeared on Nexus for a while. When I try to check after I calibrate, all the axis read -1 on gamepad tester, but axis 9, which reads 1.28571. Is there anything you can recommend
Hey I’m sure you must have tried all the steps correctly, in that case you can try and uninstall the controller from the device manager. When the controller is connected the device manager should shown Xbox 360 controller in the list, uninstalling it from there and reconnecting will force the system to install new driver and recognise the controller again. Also if you have done a manual overclock that could be an issue as well. For me it happened where no button presses in apps were detected, so I had to uninstall through device manager and reconnecting it worked. If everything fail then definitely reach out to gamesir, m hoping it won’t come to that.
Hey I don’t think it makes much of a difference, I mentioned it to be on the safe side if it affects the calibration. I’ve done it many times with them on, but I did have an issue once or twice where the stick was not reaching the max input in one corner.
Question. I’ve been using the gamesir controller after changing settings and didn’t know about the calibration need and my joysticks worked but felt off for some reason. I originally assumed Hall effect joysticks just “felt” different. Could it be the lack of calibration!?
Hey have you checked the nexus software if there is an update available? That behaviour is very strange. If no update available then a manual calibration might fix it.
I bought this controller and i have two problems, one the Right Trigger is way to sensitive in cod and the other problem is that i hear my voice when i talk in my microphone, any suggestions?
Hey check the triggers in nexus app, they should have a linear response when hair trigger isn’t enabled. If you notice the response jumping a lot and not linear then do a manual calibration. One thing I’ll say is my triggers got lose after some use, but the settings I’ve shown in this video still work for me. The audio issue sounds a bit strange, coz if mic monitoring is disabled you shouldn’t hear your own mic. Have you tried the headset on a different controller? It could be crosstalk in the headset cable maybe, try different volume levels and see if the issue disappears at some and appears at other levels. If the headset works fine on other controllers then it could be the controller that’s at fault.
I think its the joy stick its self because it started doing it again 😪It grinds at the top when you push up to run and change direction slightly or click to run the right stick doesn't do it. Thanks for your help anyway bro ✌
@@CSAClipz hey I know what you mean it’s annoying as it aimed and go for me, when I clean the stick shaft and change the ring it goes away, but then appears other times. I actually ended up installing my elite series 2 friction rings on the SE to completely get rid of it. The elite rings are a bit touch but don’t make the noise.
dam i cant seem to fix the trigger issue. when i turn on hair trigger for cod if i use a automatic gun and i hold down the trigger, it will shoot about 4 ot 5 bullets and then stop. my finger is still holding down the trigger but it just stops. i turn off hair triggers and it works normally as intended. same exact issue happens with my t4 kaleid. yes both controllers are updated and calibrated. dunno why theres an issue
Hey try and reduce the maximum deadzone to around 40-50 and keep the hair trigger turned on, see if that resolves it. My triggers have gotten a bit lose after use, but I'm lucky that I have'nt experienced that yet.
@@thephototechy this actually works, set the dead zone min 0 max 40-50 and the hair triggers feel much better. I think with the hair triggers on the right it needs space to disengage to have a smoother feeling since its instant
Hey yes it does. There is also a way to do it through nexus software as well, but I’ve had issues with it where my triggers stopped working. The method I’ve shown here fixed the issues for me.
If you calibrate the controller correctly the raw mode is a game changer and feels very responsive and nice, but make sure to calibrate it right because it feels weird if you don’t.
Hey if the manual method is not working correctly, then try the gamesir nexus app. In the app there is a test section which has beaker shape icon, once you enter the test screen you can enable manual calibration from there. There’ll be onscreen prompts showing calibration process. I did have issue of my stick not reaching the full corner after doing it through the software, and personally I prefer the manual method, it if your led is blinking and pressing A doesn’t allow it into calibration mode then try the app.
Hey no, the recalibration is an amazing tool to adjust the centre point of the sticks, or if you swap out the plastic caps for an Xbox one. If the sticks can reach 100% values in a linear response and there are no gaps or sudden jumps then you don’t need to recalibrate.
Hey I think it should be the same process, but I can’t confirm as no one else has shown this yet. I’d say try and get the manual for the T4 cyclone, that should have the info.
Hey the spring lose tension with use and that’s true for every controller. The ones that show no drift and perfect centre has built in deadzones. This kind of drift doesn’t affect game performance at all, as this won’t affect your inputs. Gamesir nexus has the option to apply minimum deadzones if you wish, but for me the best performance is without them. Also the 3-5% register I have at rest is after at least 50 hours of gaming and I do believe it’ll stay at this number, hope this helps.
Hey you can test the controller on Xbox using the edge browser and going to hardware tester website. Make sure the controller is reaching maximum values of 1.00000 in both direction with equal amount of physical stick travel. If the number are off or not consistent, then definitely do the manual calibration like I’ve shown in the video. You can also use gamesir nexus software to check stick response and maximum input register in the thumbstick tab. What you are describing sounds like the sticks are calibrated incorrectly, hopefully the manual calibration should fix this. If for some reason the manual calibration doesn’t fix the issue and you can clearly see maximum values in one direction and not the other, then you’ll need to reach out to gamesir.
Hi mate, can you please help me with a issue i have with my g7 se i got it yesterday updated and calibrated it but seem to have a problem with left trigger when i hold left trigger down sometimes it will disengage and re-engage causing me to stop aiming mid gun fights it seems to happen when there is multiple inputs is this a common problem and is there a fix for this problem? I am running no deadzones on triggers and hair triggers enabled
Hey so the hair trigger is very sensitive and it should be, but it works within the parameters of the min and max deadzones. I’ll be making a video talking about this actually soon, but I’d recommend you use 5 min and 90max with hair triggers on. This’ll allow you to still have quick tapping single fire performance, also that disengage wouldn’t happen if you keep the trigger pressed all the way down. So try these and they should work. One more tip is to check how good the triggers are calibrated, you can do that whilst pressing slowly and check see it should be a linear pull, make sure hair trigger toggle is off when checking.
My L joystick unable to press idk for what reason L just wont work i calibrated it both ways on the app and manually and it just wont work is my controller broken or
Im thinking of buying a hallf effect stick controller in the future but a bit scared, thanks for the settings I was in 13-13 in warzone rebirth island, now im on 9-9
I think the Hall effects controller will definitely catch up to normal sticks. I have a lot of hope specially now that we have more modules coming out. I do the G7se was in the T4C pro body,I personally don’t like the removable face plate, moves too much for me. I’m playing MW3 beta right now bro and sensitivity had to be brought down to 12-12 for me 😂,it feels so different and they have added additional multipliers for response curve, I can’t seem to get the setting right 🤦🏽♂️
Hey its a wired only controller and that is very worrying that its not turning on. Have you tried a different controller in the same port? also try the Gamesir cable with a different controller just to rue out the cable not being the culprit. If all fails then bro you'll need a replacement from Gamesir.
Hey for me personally the snakebyte gamepad pro is the best. That’s because the ergonomics and trigger stops, but no Dpad bind for back buttons and no option to disable them will be an issue for some. The triggers though hands down feel so good to me. I’m currently playing the MW3 beta on PS5 but when that drops on Xbox, I’ll be using the snakebyte gamepd pro and gamesir G7se on Xbox, as MW3 has a bit more options for response curve adjustments.
@@thephototechy thank you for that fast response. i saw your video on the snakebyte and the other ones and it is so hard to decide between all these. for the currently released controllers i have a feeling that the snakebyte would suit the best to me. but the new ps5 nacon controller seems also really promising.
Oh yes that one is looking very good indeed, but I think that one is also using Ksilver modules and not the newly announced Favorunion ones. Still its the first hall efect controller with 4 back buttons and trigger stops. I'mtrying my best to review it, hopefully I can save up in time to get it.@@IPeTeXI
Just a heads-up for those interested: I purchased the Snakebyte Gamepad Pro X around five months ago. Unfortunately, despite minimal usage, the charging port has become quite loose, resulting in frequent disconnections. Today, I decided to order the GameSir G7 SE in hopes of better durability, although I made the decision before your video on non-linear aim response came online. Nonetheless, I'm hopeful it will serve me well. Fingers crossed!
Hey so MW3 seems to need a lot of movement of the right stick, I’ve been using different controllers and haven’t tried the G7se yet. I’d say disable the minimum deadzones in nexus app and use in game deadzones if needed.
Hey I had this one where my triggers didn’t work after calibrating through software. I did the manual calibration and pressed the trigger in firmly towards the end and they started working. Also when doing the calibration try pressing the triggers first then rotate the sticks.
Yesterday in the test I carried out in the gamepad program, I got an error when activating the circularity and it did not show any percentage value, could it be the calibration or is it another factor that helps there, today I will try to do it as you did today and see if it works for me. mark some value
Hey the gamepad tester should show teh input register from the sticks. Was there any movement at all when you were using the sticks? I've never come accross an error on gamepad tester before, even if the sticks are really out of calibration, it still shows a percentage.
No, it doesn't mark any record, I'll try later today, but what do you recommend I do? Calibration or program it from the Nexis software before using the gamepad?
@@lynxs497 so yes check the nexus and make sure the sticks tab is showing movement on the sticks and if you can reach 100% values in each direction. Still gamepad tester should be showing the results as well. Is there any issues in game feeling? Where you think sticks aren’t performing how they are supposed to?
Ok, it already shows me but 10% and not 0.4, it shows me 0.4 when I deactivate the raw option in the Nexus software, so what do you recommend? I activate raw mode or deactivate it so that the margin of error is smaller, greetings
Hey so Raw mode mimics the behaviour of normal sticks, I'd say if you feel the aim works fine for you without raw mode then keep raw off. If you feel at times that the aim is sluggish and not responsive enough, then use the raw mode @@lynxs497
Hey bro m, things have definitely improved with the controller now. This was before the 1000hz. I did change the sensitivity after 1000hz to 10-10 and ads 1.5. I can’t move the stick too much so prefer a it higher sensitivity to combat the limit of my thumb moving.
