Man Ive been waiting for your review of this. No one else shows off every single feature and issue like you do. Hoping this is a good controller! Edit: After finishing the video, I think I am going to pick on of these up. It has all the features I need from a controller and most of the negatives mentioned do not bother me. I also really like that it looks similar to a ps4 controller, as that is my favorite controller.
@@maafchai wow. This might be the perfect controller for what I need? It has literally everything I want and all the negatives he listed do not matter to me whatsoever.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial The windows app also lets you map the macro buttons with keyboard and mouse. I watched a video from the channel 'OldManRob' it's his second vid on the controller, I think the title is "GameSir Tarantula Pro Update" The app is in chinese tho
If you play claw, all 9 buttons are actually perfectly placed in my opinion, and i think whoever designed it had a claw grip in mind. And yeah these stick are for sure the most smoothest and most responsive sticks I've ever used
As someone who loves PlayStation controllers cause of their symmetrical sticks, I'm happy to see what Gamesir has cooking. I wish more companies would make symmetrical thumbstick rollers cause theres not many many that really do in the 'Pro Roller' market scene. Great vid as always g! Best controller reviews on the whole website by far.
I believe the latest app for this controller on PC does allow you to remap keyboard and mouse buttons. And yes, it should store it on the controller since you can just connect the controller to another PC and have the mapping recognized.
Hey bro, thank you for the comprehensive review. Apprieciate that you went into detail about the handle length regarding comfort. This is a big selling point for me and I prefer handles on the longer side for that better grip, like the dualsense 😋😋 All the best brother; peace.
Just made a written post. GameSir has unlocked connect pc app for all regions w/ keyboard bindings. Perhaps a part 3 coming as this is comparable to a tons of pads and I have a lot more thoughts 💭
just wanted to drop a comment to help - the USB A port on the charging dock is for the dongle. like the 8bitdo ultimate, the charging dock has a pass-through to hold and connect the dongle all in one. providing the dock is connected to the PC/laptop of course
While silly for gameplay, those front buttons could be nice to have as a Push-to-talk/push to mute so I can mute discord, and talk shit in the cod lobby I just ran through. Or Maybe even sillier, volume controle for when I plug my laptop in my TV to play PS2 and 3 games. I'm a lil too far from the laptop to change volume once in my sofa. Well, that's assuming we can remap keyboard buttons to these, I'm not there yet in the video EDIT: 22:42 Bruh.
Yay he's back! Don't forget about the SMX X20 which is like their first controller with 4 remappable buttons which is what I wanted to say something about. I play The First Descendant which is first a PC game but is also free to play on consoles. Your character has 4 different skills each and for console you have to push 2 buttons at the same time to activate each skill! For PC it's just a letter like H. I play on Xbox and they make you press LB + A,B,Y and X! In the in game settings, it allows me to exchange the LB+A (skill 1) to one D-pad input etc. That works with controllers that only allow one button mappable button. If my controller has macros like my X20 or Manba1, I can map LB +A to one button, LB + B to another etc. So for me and probably others, I need at least 4 buttons to remap.
Great review. This has been my go-to for 2D games on PC. Gamsir buttons and d-pad are great, and I prefer this layout for that - especially changing to Nintendo layout for emulation.
Nice I have been waiting for your review because of how deep you go into reviewing the controller. You always go over stuff other reviews just skip over. I also agree they should have placed the additional buttons in a better location. I also wish they had software for the controller so you could program they extra buttons to other things like keyboard bindings. Honestly right now my dream controller would be if the scuf envision pro had a trackpad, hall effect/tmr sticks, and could also be used on a PS5. Since I love the layout of it and all the buttons are in a perfect location for me personally.
If GameSir comes out with a controller that uses hall effect joysticks and has a dpad similar to the Xbox Series X controller, I'll absolutely pick it up. I wish more of these companies would make a dpad with that style.
Regarding the button accessibility, they should split each of the bumpers into two separate buttons. They are long enough to do so. Seems like a logical solution and I am surprised this hasn't been done before? Four rear buttons can be a bit much for some people and many don't find these arrangements to be comfortable. I think it would be better to do two back buttons and split the bumpers into two buttons on each side. If this became the standard wouldn't it be so much better than trying to jam four rear buttons into a place the fingers aren't used to being? Thoughts?
Got this a few days ago along with the G7 SE. Really solid controller all around, but one thing I noticed with mine is that when on hair trigger mode the left trigger doesn't click like the right trigger does. The right trigger goes all the way to 255 in hair trigger mode, while the left one only goes to around 25-30. I don't really use hair triggers that much, so it's no big deal to me (both triggers work just fine in normal mode). EDIT: Somehow, the left trigger now works properly in hair trigger mode. So, really banger controller 👍
Nice review, yet again like the Edge, so close yet so far. For me in 2024, all pro controllers should have 4 rear buttons as standard, hence why I'm sticking with AIM.
17:08 the controller actually allows for keyboard mapping while wired with the chinese software, and it doesn't require the PC software to be running after remapping. They broke this function in the latest updated while messing with the dongle (that is now 1000hz), but if works wired, they'll likely make it work wirelessly as well.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial so what? I don't like working but still do it, because it earns me money. Also, as the "controller captain" and "best source for controller reviews" you should put a bit more effort into properly informing about the things you cover. This is a very rare feature that many people seek, and if it were up to you no one would know. Nonetheless, like I said, you don't have to keep it running, just map it and uninstall it.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial Gamesir App Asian version updated wired in PC mode. It also should let you map all buttons in D-input mode in steam or ReWASD. Steam may require DS4 windows to map inputs to dualsense spoof buttons on touchpad etc. Supposed to come to US version soon I don't know when though, sorry. Edit: Also wanna just say that ReWASD is considered within the industry as cheating software now that mouse emulation is available and they are taking measures to circumvent anticheat. Be safe out there!
@@Ricolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawhich modes switch it to d-input? I always see x-input and d-input tests but didn’t know how you can swap between those. As isn’t d-input what vintage controllers used?
Gotta love AK40Kevin w/ another banger Troller review!! Controller Captain does it again 💪🏽 Side note: I wish the Razer Wolverine V3 Tournament had included TMR sticks 💔
Great video bro, i really like this controller especially for the price, might buy it next week, i do agree they should remove the buttons at the top and put two more on the back.
I've been playing with this controller a lot with a half claw grip on my left hand to hit the t1 button and c1 and c2 with my pointing finger. Not ideal but I got used to it and it works
The controller is so ridiculously bugged tbh. Unresponsive paddle buttons, the controller functions on its own, it doesn’t have app support which is distasteful when speaking of gamesir in general, and for the price point none of these issues should be present. It’s no surprise they aren’t posting more about it or live streaming it on tik tok. I was looking forward to it quite a bit. Hopefully game sir gets this one ironed out. ALSO I purchased one and it had the issues mentioned above. I then returned and got a replacement and once again it had the same issues mentioned above. This doesn’t seem like a bad apple situation but more of a complete build and design flaw… so
Only 2 extra buttons I'd use on this are the ones on the back of the controller. Not sure what they were thinking with the placement of the other extra buttons, just slap on there anywhere I guess? The TMR sticks look good though.
Crazy timing of the release, but apparently someone on Reddit announced that the software has been released for this controller. So now curious if it will have as much customization as the Envision Pro. For now it seems you can at the very least set keyboard macros.
This controller is broken with the 2.4 firmware update for 1000hz wireless polling rate. D-Pad and bumpers will lag/input multiple times on 1000hz wireless mode.
Excellent review as always. I'd really like to see you get into racing wheel reviews. I just picked up a Logitech G923, and I'd like to see your opinion on different wheels as a controller enthusiast.
The G923 is a fantastic wheel as is most of the models from Logitech. I have been wanting to get into sim reviews, perhaps a new playlist in the future
Would have gotten this for the thumbsticks, but you're right. Rear buttons are a deal breaker. Gonna keep fuckin' with my Envision and wrestling with iCue for now....
The vader 4 pro has 12bit analog hall effect and in the tester they are stupid responsive, that controller in my opinion is unmatched everything ive wanted in a controller. Only thing i wish it had (because im picky) is more than 4 profiles on the app. But physical specs, man that controller has everything.... okay maybeeeeee just have alittle better placement of the back buttons but honestly thats just me being picky, they are really great!
Off topic, not sure if you know theres a limited edition tomb raider 1-3 nitro deck + for the switch on the tomb raider website says there only making 1000 it looks very nice. Has hall sticks and back buttons 🔥
The ONLY 3rd party PS2 controllers that I've used that were even close to the durability of the official ones were the Chameleon controllers by Pelican. The only issue I had with them was the L2/R2 buttons could get a little sticky after a couple years, and they're just a TAD bit too small.
can you start including a thumbstick bounce back test, i really want a new controller but i find alot of ones of tested bounce back to the opposite direction when i let them go
I wonder if they will have a four button option in the future? I'm highly considering switching to this roller and attempting to macro some button combos to replace losing my two.
Man if this had mechanical face buttons I'd be all over it. I struggle with asymmetrical stick layout for retro and 2d games. If the Tarantula has mechanical face buttons it'd be the single best 2d/retro pad for me bar none. I'm not unhappy with my years old 8bitdo Pro 2 but I do want an all mechanical symmetrical stick pad that isn't Scuf. Wild that it has somehow has a mechanical D-pad 🥴
Love your work sir. However in all your reviews for controllers with gyro you never test the feature. Would love to see your detailed insights on gyro support for various games on PC from now on.
The swappable buttons is cool, but a little gimmicky, IMO. As someone who plays games from Nintendo, Playstation, and PC (since most PC games default to Xbox layout. PS layout support is still kind of rare), over 20 years of muscle memory lets me swap layouts with only a few minutes to mentally reorient my inputs. Gimme some feedback here folks. Is this something people really want/need? Do you find yourself looking down at your controller to remember the layout when switching from Nintendo to Xbox layout? Not trying to be judgmental or sarcastic, I'd genuinely like to know. I pretty much just use my Dualsense with DS4Windows or my 8Bitdo Pro 2, and don't really pay attention to the layout.
@@banana5651for me the T3 Pro is better. Vader 4 pro isn’t as responsive and I could feel it was off. Also the analogs on T3 pro are better. In my opinion.
I should mention there weren’t enough samples for it to be verified yet. So your test showed 1.5ms? I hope you’re right it’s the only thing holding me back currently from buying
The only issue I have is I’m an aspiring semi-pro/pro cod player and I think the macros being built into the controller with a press of the button would get it banned :( same thing just happened to fly digi and that was my main
Had my gamesir g7 se for 6 months, now the right thumbstick likes to stick to the right pretty bad. Might be fault of my own idk, i just bought another one though. I could pulll up on the stick and push back in and itd last for a bit but it would go back to sticking right randomly every time.
it seems like Gamesir pushed the limit of the quality of the Joysticks with the TMR sensors , but the platform , specially with the membrane face buttons is a big turn off for me. there is a lot going on in the controllers scene in the last year of so , but it seems to me this controllers sticks dethroned all previous sticks and could become the new top standard along with the 2000Hz and 12 bit for the sticks.
34:20 weird, after Nova\Lite comparison I had an impression you disliked that thing. I picked Nova (not Lite) on sale for 16$, it's still on it's way, and I'm not sure if I should keep it or just resell it locally as new and get something else. Is regular Nova performing that bad in BT mode? Tbh Gamesir model lineups are so confusing. Why would they release a controller with better hardware and build quality but not include a radio dongle? ..And then sell it on sale for the price of Lite version? I asked their official Ali store support if I can get the dongle in their store and they told me "we don't have dongles for Nova, but you can buy Lite version and it has dongle".. Smh
Is the USB-A port not just a pass through port for the receiver? I can't remember any device (like not even just in the last 15 years) that receives charging through a USB-A port.
Sticks are rock solid. The connectivity of the junk inside has occasional lag spikes that people are seeing in version 2.04. Version 2.02 doesn't have those issues over wireless I hear.
I love your your vids dude but, saying the c button are useless cause cant use them in fps game the way that you play is and L take. It dont mean you cant use them for alot of other games
For some odd reason the tarantula pro wouldn't connect to my pc and I was not able to use it. Return to get a replacement, hoping it was a defective controller second controller same issue. Was only able to connect to Android phone. When connected to pc kept showing unrecognizable device. Purchaseed the Vader 4 pro. It came in yesterday plug it up to the pc works right away out the box. Don't know what to say I like the tarantula design cause it's similar to the ps4 controller but couldn't get it to work so was not able to try it out. So imma stick with the vader 4 pro and return the tarantula pro
This video convinced me that this isn't a controller that I want to add to my collection. I am super picky when it comes to the extra inputs and rear buttons, and Gamesir seems to have missed the mark here. I love the rotating face buttons though, awesome gimmick. Thanks for saving me some rupees captain.
Is there a WIRED controller for playstation? I won't even consider playing it unless there is one- I know you can plug your wireless controller in and play like that, but there is a battery. My laptop won't work (even plugged in) unless I replace the battery, it's something ALL laptops do, planned obsolescence. So that makes me paranoid- I want a controller with no battery. But I'm not aware of a wired/ no battery playstation controller since the PS2 right? I'm a HEAVY gamer that's pretty much all I do lol but I can't be recharging my controlers all the fricken time. My average game session is about 10 hours so -_-.
The fact it uses a playstation symmetrical layout is the only reason why people will buy it for fps. If the other companies did the ps layout a lot people will switch.
