I just got this game at Gamestop for $15 bucks and it was worth every penny! Its a must buy for everyone who likes action games, especially those who love Bond games. The driving and stealth sections of the game are extremely fun and addicting. I bought the PS3 version and it ran perfectly! No crashes or no screen tearing issues. Loved it!
I'm playing through this now and it's absolutely amazing! It really does look and feel like a Bond movie, right down to the classy opening credits! I was interested before but having Daniel Craig's likeness, voice acting and Judi Dench's contribution sold it for me! It's a wickedly fun ride! Simple, effective, FUN! The Siberian chapter was SPECTACULAR! It's so overblown with explosions aplenty and awesome combat. I can't recommend this game enough. It's BOND!
+freddybeer Without a doubt mate and it's one of my favorite games of all time the only shame is that it's been overshadowed by some other games and not recognized as the truly great game/film that it is. And why the damn reviewer criticised it at the start is beyond me.
Finally, I returned to this game and completed it on 007 difficulty! Nightmare! Lol! Took me ages! I'm still totally impressed by the game. It really feels like Bond in every aspect!
just completed this game, have to say it was a pleasant surprise. There's a fair bit of replay value since once you get good at it the combat system gets really addictive. Well worth getting second hand like I did.
I was looking forward to this game, but it was released at the absolute worst time. Games like Black Ops, New Vegas, and Assasins Creed Brotherhood were all on the brink of bieng released, so I had completely forgotten about this. Now that I remembered it, I'm gonna pick it up. Good to see a positive review on it.
Looks solid. i like slow starts because it makes the end seem that much more intense. if your a major bond fan like myself youll know that they have a amazing intro, slow plot building, then majorly pickes up and ends with a bang. wouldnt suprise me if they did that in purpose.
Quite honestly, a highly underrated game that was overshadowed by the GoldenEye reloaded remake upon release. This is a great game with an original story penned by Bond writer Bruce Feirstein, excellent gameplay (my favourite being the brutal takedowns) and voiced with Daniel Craig himself.
An excellent game that is visually stunning. I strongly recommend cranking it up to 007 difficulty, it provides a challenging yet also thoroughly rewarding gameplay experience.
Good review, I disagree with pacing comments, but still good. I think a good should have moments where it slows down. Variety is key. Especially in Bond.
ok i just finished it. maddddddddd fun. not repetitive. as u go more into the story the better it gets. mad fun shoot outs. i suggest playing it on the hardest level possible. makes it more of a challenge. loved the driving parts. hope everyone else liked it also.
a slow start is sometimes important though as it balances out the pace, keeps it from being an all out shooter (which would be tedius and boring) and makes the later, fuel injected, levels more exciting (Y)
The close-encounter trash ups is what's necessary for other third person shooters. When you're dangerously close to an enemy in a first person shooter you'll just spray your ass off. But in a third person shooter, you'll actually get into a panic attack that leaves you in ambiguity about whether you should shoot (and consequently miss) or start running around your enemy like a headless chicken and meanwhile get shot because your enemies -do- have the ability to act like a real person would.
I was thinking of getting this. Ihad so much great memories playing all the 007 games on the PS2, then I lost track of the series because they got more worse each release. Is this a good game? How does it compare to Everything or Nothing?
@tesofreak You just gave a better review of a game with the limitations of RU-vid commenting than IGN has done for most games they've reviewed. Props bro
@Seargent363 I didnt play them a whole lot. I rented them but I wasnt really into shooters until I started a little with cod World at War then I picked up Quantum of Solace and I got really good at that fps. I was 231st in the world or something until I stopped playing it when COD Modern Warfare 2 came out and I like the look and feel of fps more than 3rd person.
Eurocom released 007 Legends in 2012 (2 years after Bloodstone), but it was a crap celebration for Bond's 50th anniversary. But yeah, nothing since then, which is a real shame. Don't even know who holds the Bond video license these days, actually.
@trancedsailor I was probably going to check it out in store. It seems that multiplayer options always sell games for me the most, but I wasn't that impressed. The car/boat chase scenes looked pretty bad ass, though.
Im sorry but I used to be a huge fan of the James bond series but ever since Pierce Brosnan retired I left the series alone. These games could of been seeing sales like the call of duty series if they had of just kept the original cast. Pierce Brosnan was smooth a real ladies man. Now these new characters I just cant take them seriously anymore. I remember when I used to play 007 on my N64 for hours and arguing with my friends about who gets to play as Pierce Brosnan. Those were the good days.
This game seems to run on a more refined Splinter Cell: Conviction engine. It's really good! I hope more games use this (especially the combat system!)
I liked Bloodstone quite a bit, and Goldeneye is obviously the best James Bond game, but Quantum of Solace is my favorite current gen bond game. I loved that game.....
@Raulgf182 I am thinking more of Casino Royale/Quantum Of Solace for the gameplay. Bond isn't realistic, but some of the games are focusing too much on the old Bond but still missing aspects of his character and actions. Every Bond game just moves him from one shootout, to another and another then a small car chase then twelve more shootouts. They don't make him seem cold, calculated and efficient like a hitman. He just comes off as Rambo with less character in the games.
i think the next james bond game should be sort of a more light-hearted take on it (using Roger Moore as the bond) and it would be like the older movies complete with crazy villains and death lazers
Loved the game, but its awfully short. Multiplayer is actually kinda fun though once you get the grip of it all. I'd say buy it used for a lower price (possibly a used copy or wait till price drop) or rental. I'd give it a 7.5
i like the story mode more than quantum but was dissapointed to find out it was as short as the story mode in quantum.. (5 to 6 hours). Honestly though, i like the multiplayer in quantum more than in bloodstone.
S for Spoilers indeed, this review is giving you all the details about the gameplay, that otherwise would've been a surprise for you, but any ways it seem to be an excelent game that I sure be playing soon. About IGN and gamespot, i allways read both reviews to give me a better idea on wich game to play.
Playing this game is the most fun I've had with a video game in a long while. There is a pacing issue and the game is way too short. Everything else is spectacular tho!
@scentoflime It's $13.89 after tax and shipping on Gamestop. That's the price of a ticket to Transformers 3D. I think this game will be pretty awesome. I'm gonna go for it.
I've wanted to play this game for so long, and just today I realized that they made it for the Nintendo DS. Although I will most likely get it for PS3, I still might consider picking it up for the DS.
I like Daniel Graig as James Bond almost every generation has had one and of course every generation that has had one thinks theirs is the best but I just like that people know who James Bond is.
This game rocks. It's really similiar to Conviction, but I think it's much better. My opinion. :P And by the way, this is 100 times better than quantum of solace.
the game is like a less stealthy, more fast paced version of splinter cell conviction. but the takedowns in this one are way better than any game ive played, except maybe the bourne conspiracy.
Defintly worth a rental at Blockbuster, which btw filed bankruptcy a couple of weeks ago. So who knows when the game back Blockbuster may be closed for good and you get to keep it!
From what I remember this game was really good it was a majour upgrade from quantum but i didnt like the fact you had to stop everytime to check where u need to go... but yeah good game will probs play it again
love this game, when ever im bored of black ops, or im just knackered and playing shit i put bloodstone and have a good time, would highly recomend, 8/10
@Chronolyse this game kind of fell under the radar, I think Black Ops kind of took all the headlines for novemeber. I really enjoyed Conviction, I may pick it up.
this game is pretty and awsome but i need to finish it to determinate, Wich is better, GoldenEye 007 For Wii Or This (James Bond 007 : Blood Stone) What do You Think? Wich Is Better?
I thought Quantum of Solace was good, but felt like a CoD game with Bond as the main character. Goldeneye Reloaded is a bit better, but still to CoD'ish. Still, both are great games:) 007 Legends could have been better though, but had some fun in its MP.
its like the movies then fast at the start slow in the part after that picks up every now and again and then becomes really really fast paced during the ending basically like a movie
can I ask a question? does this game looks like Hitman? I mean like its game play? like sneaking, assassinating, something like that. I hope you get my point :) ty
