The stock was always suppose to go up when the new console generation was released. Long term they're screwed though.

GameStop is going to go out of business. It’s because there was big money that bought the stock and ran up the price and it forced the people shorting the stock to buy. This happens every day in the market just not to this level. It shows if you have enough money you can even manipulate the stock market.

Difficult to believe considering all the stores that were shuttered. Good for them, though. We don't want them to go under.

Numbers can be fudged, just fyi - don't believe everything you read in the internet. If this is in anyway true, it's because of online sales, not in store sales. I've gone to any of the 4 Gamestops within a 10 minute drive of me over the past few months and they are dead with literally no customers in them. To add insult to injury, they have revamped their stores to take their used stock off of shelves, so now it is more confusing to even know if they have a used copy on hand let alone the condition it is in. The retail locations are a joke, with most only having at most 1 employee staffed at any given time. If we see anything out of this, Gamestop will continue to close stores and just become an online entity only over the next few years, and the pandemic is getting worse, so this will help that too. I don't think it has anything to do with the 9th gen consoles, that doesn't even make sense.
