This is the exact reason why I slowed down in playing Halo Infinite. Playing multiplayer with my friends often was a blast, but I missed playing single player games that impacted who I was. Multiplayer games aren’t really immersive to me - I know I am playing a game, it’s just the competition I love.
This is great info! Yeah, I stopped doing impulse buys of games I was mildly interested in and that helped. Steam and other game sales can be a huge problem. I've had to be more picky about what games I pick up and play as I have less time now to play as often. I realize I can't play every game I want so I made a smaller list of must-plays in order to organize which ones I want to play the most to ones that could potentially be skipped (or played later). Also, unless its a relatively shorter game I tend to try and not replay games I've already beaten. I mean, there are a lot of 8 and 16 bit games that I can revisit and will always enjoy, but I also want to balance it out with games I've never played before. I got into the habit of replaying games constantly as a kid due to not really having many other options. I had a small fraction of the games when I was a kid compared to today.
thank you! these are great points too! i very rarely replay games and i’m not a trophy hunter because it’s super time consuming. during steam sales, i try to not even look at the front page 😅 thanks again for the comment!
One of my greatest downfalls is that when I get a into a series I like buy every single game and then just never get around to playing them all so this year im going to make my way through the Assassin's creed series and mabye switch to halo if I get bored of ac
AC Brotherhood, and Valhalla are fantastic! those are both great series to try and beat this year. i’d be interested in knowing if you’re able to beat them all 🫡
@@ayemaldo I've finished a few assassin's creed games in the past few years and I own all of the main line games so my plan is to finish brotherhood, revelations, black flag, rogue, unity, and syndicate before November. I'm going to save the RPG games for another time, mabye next year leading up to finally getting mirage
having way too many games and not enough time to play tnem is something that i never saw coming growing up. I am gonna be turning 50 this year so I have been gaming since gaming began. I love gaming but having a job and gym and other hobbies is a huge task trying to balance it all together ....oh yes and the other half needs time and attention too, she knows I am a gamer and never complained during the last 20 years we have been together. Great video man, thanks 😊
Only 3 more games I have on my radar to add to my backlog. Thoose 3 are" METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA, JURASSIC PARK SURVIVAL and Grand Theft Auto VI ' Noticed on the radar' No pre order wait to see if they deliver' Lets say they don't ' My backlog is enough to entertain myself for life. Good video.
Oh, that tip for seasonalizing your games is absolute heat I always associate Pokemon Platinum and honestly alot of games, with Summer because that's the time I got to play them. Also Mario 3D World with winter exclusively because of that insanely good winter level music and maybe I got my Wii U on Christmas idk But it really makes a memorable experience, because the games that stick with you are the ones you remember and how else to remember except by giving your brain shortcuts One tip I try that's related to the list thing is that I put my games on Steam into a "Games For Now" collection, so I know what I have interest in playing soon It was helpful..until it filled up half my library So now I have a "GAMES I AM CURRENTLY PLAYING" folder that I just made so hopefully that helps Good tips
oddly enough, I had the same issue with making a list on game pass. I had to unmark my play later list too because it gave me so much unnecessary anxiety lol. thank you! I really appreciate the feedback!
Great tips! I have these "marathons" where I go through an entire series of games in a franchise, and burn myself out after the third of fourth game. Giving yourself a break to refresh your mind is important and can help you get through those games!
For single player RPG's, skip the side quests. If you're doing another playthrough, at least you'll know which side quests you can skip (looking at you Dragon Age - Inquisition).
@@ayemaldo i love both a ton, i think i haven’t finished them mainly because of difficulty and mood. I had those two unfinished and recently played the entire MGS series and forgot i need to finish them😭
I deleted EAFC 24 and beat Cyberpunk, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Hogwarts Legacy 💀 spent way too many hours on career mode now I’m only playing single player story mode games fun as hell
I have a game room with arcade machine's, an Xbox Series X, Raspberry Pi with 4000 games. I walk into that room and get anxiety. I usually just play CoD for an hour and rage. Plz help.
What you said about a dark cloud when you boot up your system is hella accurate. I feel like that everytime I turn on my Switch or PS5 and it's weird because I know I'm supposed to be enjoying the process lol. Good tips, def will be putting them into practice
Man! This video hit home. My pile of shame is the only struggle I have with gaming. Been a gamer for nearly forty years now. Been exclusively Playstation since the first console came out. My PSN library contains over 500 games, only 200 of which I've rolled credits on. The struggle is real. You've got some good tips, here. I've already come up with a couple of them on my own, like the palate cleasner one. I like to digest the 60 hour single player big boys with a small 3 to 6 hour indie. Always a good transition. I'm just not into multiplayer, period. Another tip I would add is to try and steer clear of game reviews. They are a main cause of my impulse buys, many of which I end up regretting. Also know yourself as a gamer, and you'll have a better idea of which games are for you. 2023 has been a mammoth year for games. I have a backlog of games to purchase, let alone ones I have to play. The best advice I got from your video was to just let go of games you're not enjoying. That's a hard one for me. I want to get my money's worth, but there just aren't enough hours in a day. I like your vibe, man. Keep it up.
I agree on trying to ignore reviews, i’d even say if you are interested after the first trailer, you might want to ignore the social media FOMO too. I do this with games, but I first started doing this with movies and it really helped me start to enjoy them again. i really appreciate the comment! 🙂
I would also add deleting grinding games. I used to play destiny, warframe but those took way too much time and you end up nowhere. Only one I played recently was path of exile but fell in the same trap. Delete the hamster wheel. There's so many great games I missed or could have played earlier if I have gotten off the hamster wheel.
The best way to finish your backlog is by not adding to it. STOP buying new games all the time and focus on the backlog. Play 5 or 10 games from your backlog then play ONE new game, then go back to another 5 or 10 games. Rinse. Repeat. Also: CLIP. THE MIC. TO. YOUR. SHIRT. It's a bad look holding it like a Derp. That's WHY the clip is there.
