I hope you guys enjoy the new Gaming Mysteries! ^_^. I've wanted to go back and fix this topic for a while now, so, I did o_o. Also hope everyone has a nice New Years as a side note. It's almost the next year, you guys o-o.
Alright guys! I, slept all day! So Happy New Years! :D. We did it! :D(Or I did, I don't think you were there :3). And may the next year be full of sleep. Have a wonderful evening, everybody :3.
"Dear Mario: Please come to my castle. I have set a trap for you. Up Yours, truly King Bowser Koopa." Mario: "Seems legit. Hey Luigi, wanna join me for some cake at Peach's?" Luigi: "Nah, I think I'll just spend some alone time. Wouldn't want to cramp your style... douche."
Believe it or not, the version of this game that I played first and prefer is Super Mario 64 DS. I remember the faithful summer when my sister had left her girly-looking pink DS Lite behind after she took off to summer camp, and out of boredom I decided to play. In the seclusion of my room (because there was no way I'd risk my dignity by being caught seeing a pink DS) I popped in the only game she had at the time...Super Mario 64 DS. The levels, the music, the fatally mind-blowing worlds should've been enough to cement my love for the game, but then I found out I could play as other characters...with other abilities. And then my parents found me lying on my room floor in a fit of cardiac arrest, clutching a pink DS. Ah...summer days...
+CarBitGTSaxen I don't think that it will happen. Generally, beta carts for N64 games were used to hold temporary data so they could be used over and over again. They would delete the data on the cartridge and put data for another game on there so it's extraordinarily unlikely that it even exists anymore.
@@Callumbuddy that's true. Though, just because something isn't available on a cartridge, doesn't mean it's lost. Nintendo keeps a lot of their assets, including prototype ROMs, on their servers and archives them. After the big leaks, which include Pokemon beta's people thought were forever lost, some people believe SM64 betas are out there as well, but they haven't been (publicly) leaked yet.
@@thogameskanaal about that... It was found. at last. the spaceworld build was found... security is currently being bypassed on the actual spaceworld build but maps have been imported and put into mario 64. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W8LUbJqnwpU.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W-0l9QvrDq0.html
Believe it or not, I played this beta version at a Sears before the game was out. I remember the "night" hub room so accurately. I only got to explore the court yard and hub room. Before I saw beta footage of this game 18+years later, the visuals of the beta were always stuck in my head when I was younger. After the Sears trip, I thought it was all a dream when I looked back on it, but it really was true.
you prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Jensen Leo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
One of m friends turned me onto your channel, this was my first video. It was AWESOME! I was riveted the entire time and learned a lot about one of my favorite games. Really well done, and I love your sense of humor.
Super Mario 64 is still my favorite Mario game, I wish they'd make a sequel to it some day or at least a nice 3D Mario like it that's non-linear instead of the 2D Mario games Nintendo seems to be obsessed with making (they may be good but I loved the style of Super Mario 64 so much more).
I think the yellow switch might have been more of a Super Mario World reference, where if you hit the block, other yellow blocks appear for use as platforms. Just a theory.
"The first time I laid eyes on Super Mario 64 was at a Walmart, so as you can imagine it was a pretty depressing experience for me." LMAO! My first time seeing it was at a Fred Myer's, even got to play a demo too.
4:00 "We also learned that the reason that the Super Nintendo didn't see a 3D mario game was... because the n64 controller has more buttons. And yes, yes it does."
This was a fantastic video. Love hearing more about the beta of my favorite game. I actually never knew about the yellow switch thing. Although I doubt the yellow block would have gave you an invincibility power-up since the Metal Cap already more or less does that. I think it would have just made it possible to get the other stars and extras in levels that hid them in the yellow blocks.
Looks like it's true that they took their scrapped ideas for Mario 64 and turned it into Mario 3D Land/World. Linear levels, isometric camera, multiplayer.
I know there's not much footage of it, but a Gaming Mysteries about Super Mario World would be SO nice :) Especially since it was supposed to be on the NES and seems like it went through so many changes! Also streamlining the endslate into the actual video was really refreshing and ...YAY ! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year YuriofWind!
Yuri! Thanks for making 2013 a great year! I always look forward to your videos and can't wait for what's in store next year. You are amazing! Thanks for taking the time to give your fans smiles ~_~ Happy New Year!
The keys were probably used in the first mission of Big Boo's haunt. Hunt the ghosts to get the keys, use the keys to raise the stairs, and get the star.
1:41 "Except for Wet-Dry World Fuck that place! is like they didn't finish it, it bothers the hell out of me..." "The negative emotional aura" is strong here!
I can't tell you how long I searched every inch of this game even after I beat it for secrets. I'm not sure why but I was determined to find everything Nintendo had hidden. I tried climbing that waterfall by the castle to "unlock a secret world" like my friends said it would do XD awesome vids btw!

I first saw SM64 in a Toys R' Us... got to pick a free game to come with the N64 when it was released, I had SM64 in one hand and Pilotwings in the other... I chose Pilotwings, which was fun but when I later got Mario it was the BEST! Until Banjo Kazooie, then that was the best.
A happiest of new years and Christmases to you too, man. I have to say, your consistency with the channel is what really keeps me coming back. And if I can do my part to give you that voice in return, I'll do what I can. Rest well, and I'll see you no sooner than January 16th.
I completely remember the first time playing this game, which was also my first time playing a 3D game. It was goddamn magical. It was a moment n tme, that will never happen again.
Mario was the first video game character I was also properly introduced to as well, Andrew. Nice to know and look back on such nostalgia with good memories. Also, your other video on Super Mario 64 wasn't crappy. It was short, but cool. Just like you always have been. Stay cool Yuriofwind. Have a nice day/night.
What a great game. Speaking of nostalgia, I never really experienced that feeling I got playing this in any other game. Even Ocarina of time was matched by skyward sword (for me at least) but i never saw anything like mario 64 again
Great video! I must admit, I saw your original mario one and found it a bit lacking, but after seeing a few others and noticing your shout out from DYK, I'm convinced to subscribe. One thing that might have been worth mentioning is the way the paintings are actually sectioned off, this was clearly a scrapped idea to have different sections of the paintings take you to different places.
You are welcome. I know what it is like to feel like no one is listening and you have no voice. We love your You Tubes. You are very whitty. My son love gaming world. You keep posting and we will keep watching. Lots of great info you give us. Thanks. :)
Best video to end the year! Awesome video man. Ive been watching your videos for a very long time. I think about a couple years now. Keep up the good work. Did very well on this vid. Watched all the way through c:
My first guess for the Yellow Switch's function is that it activates the Yellow Blocks already in the game. The blocks that give out coins. Either the development team realized the game works better without the Yellow Blocks being tied to a switch, or they used it as a development tool to activate and deactivate the Yellow Blocks at will.
I love these type of videos and I was keen on subscribing, but when you gave that little speech at the end I couldn't click any faster. Keep up the good quality man!
Found you through your DYKG video & I've got to say this video was really interesting & had me cracking up a few times. Glad you feel you have a voice dude, keep up the good work, I will be looking through your backlog & commenting when I can. I already love you, stay clean & stay informative.
I may have found you late into 2013, but I always love when I see one of your videos pop up in my feed! So, thank YOU for taking your time to make these! They're always incredibly informative and well researched, so kudos to you friend! Happy New Year! :3
Don't worry, Yuri... 2014 will be good for the WiiU. There's a SSB game in 2014, as well as several other major franchise titles. Nintendo will be printing their own money.
Coins in the beta had "I"s on them, resembling coins from most other Mario games. In fact, Super Mario 64, its remake, and Mario Pinball land are a few of the only games to feature coins with stars on them instead of "I"s.
I think the idea behind it was staying neutral while invincible. For example, Metal Mario can still take shock damage and Invisible Mario can take fire damage if I'm correct. An Invincible cap would make you shiny and stuff and allow you to run around as normal Mario without the slowness of Metal Mario or the ability to go through things as Invisible Mario. At least that's my theory.
You didn't sound lame when you said Mario 64 was magical. When I was a kid. I felt the same way. It just felt so... Expansive. Like I could find secrets at every turn. It was a game that sparked my imagination. Anyway. Nostalgia aside. Interesting video. There was quite a bit here I didn't know about. ...Also. I'm SO glad Charles voiced Mario in the end. That beta voice was terrifying.
Super useful video. 'Look forward to seeing more sometime. But a lot of barely-started rants... You sounded pretty pissed, even telling the jokes. But hey, I guess a twenty minute video would frustrate anyone.
"so as you can imagine it was a pretty depressing experience for me." "except for wet dry world, fuck that place!" "the living myth himself.... Luigi" and so many other great quotes... you have a new subscriber! even though this video is like 4 years old psh whatever
I'm sure it's fine. He always accepts new subscribers no matter the time. Also, nice to meet you, fellow subscriber. How you doing? Have a great day/night.
What if the yellow switch was for the fire power, I always wondered why they never had the fire power in Mario 64 when it is included with every game other than this one
Clintos It is unlikely that the yellow switch is for a fire power up. The reason the classic fire power up was omitted was the fact that it was difficult to control in 3D. Given that yellow blocks can be found in the final game, I would assume that at one point they were meant to be transparent (like the ones found in Super Mario World). I assume that once they ditched this idea, rather than re-coding the blocks, they just set the switch to be permanently in the down position.
I think what I like most about Yuriofwind is that it feels like he is talking directly at you. He seems to be very personable and someone I could definitely get along with. Idk, just seems like a chill guy.
