Today on Gaming Mysteries, we talk about the mythical, magical, rumorful, PokeGods. To the unaware, PokeGods were rumored Pokemon Gods that existed in the original games, back before you could just Google the truth. The term PokeGod is a means to explain what couldn't be explained, and today, I look back on this important lie in gaming.

The stupidest method i actually tried was that if you take a lv 100 Dragonite, teach it surf, have it surf in the water where you catch Mewtwo, and then use a moonstone on it it will evolve into a Yoshi.

Joseph Hixon To be fair it was fairly easy trick to try and i had a Dragonite already, so I didn't really waste more then like 5 minutes trying it.

Somebody once told me that if you evolve a Magikarp in Silver Version at level 50 it would evolve into a Gold Gyarados... but obviously it wasn't real. I worked so hard Tackling and Flailing pokemon all the way to the Elite Four, and all I got was a Gyarados with some really bad moves ;_;

In order to get the Pokimens god Pikarpchu, you have to beat the Top Four 164 times and defeat 29 wild geodudes with a magikarp. Then the magikarp will get hungry and eat a Pikachu, forming - you guessed it - a jigglypuff. Make it sing until Team rocket sleeps, catch every pokemon 5 times and then press Left and Right at the same time to get Pikarpchu, which has the powerful attack "Super splash", which does 10% more damage than splash!

When I was a kid I was /convinced/ that the grass to the left/right of Pallet Town was filled with Pokémon you couldn't get anywhere else in the game. I completely believed it with all my being and I would spend days on end combing the walls of Kanto to try and find a secret way to get in there. Then I got a walk through walls cheat and was kinda heartbroken. Now I look back on that and I'm just kinda annoyed GameFreak put all that grass there at all. Like that big dive spot surrounded by rocks to the left of Pacifidlog in the original RSE games. Making me want to go places I can't go is mean, GameFreak.

After I watched this video I wondered why I never had a creepy friend that was never allowed to visit my house. Then one day I was talking to my friend about why I was never able to go over to his house. He told me it was because his parents thought that I was a bad influence, and that they thought I was insane. And that's when it dawned on me that I was the creepy friend!

Watching this brought back a memory that I had hoped would remain chained up and locked away in the deepest pit of the hellish area which resided within my mind. For the longest time when I heard of the Pokegods, they were evolutions of Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen. They were somewhat based on the statues in the Safari Zone and the pokegod story I heard dealt with those things. And later, they were buried in my memories as the Pokemon games grew... And then the alternative form of Mewtwo was revealed to be a Mega-Evolution - and later the first generation starters were revealed to have one. So, now I feel like I can finally own - the Pokegods.

If I remember I read this a long time ago: Then there is apparently Yoshi in the game. Get all 150 Pokemon, get a Dragontaur, then get a Fire Stone and go to Mewtwo's Cave. Use the Firestone on Dragontaur and get a Yoshi (number 999)

Excellent video, watching it 7:00 in so far and I had much the same experience as a Pokemon obsessed kid with an internet connection in the 90s. Also distinctly remember there being rumors back then of a Pokemon Black Team Rocket version of the game where you got to play as a member of TR. Would make a cool idea to this day! I just love how wild the speculations and imaginations were back then, when the internet was still very much barebones and Japan seemed like some mythical far off amazing technological country full of undiscovered games and anime.

Back in gen 4-5 we also had our own PokéGodLikeThingis. In Platinum, you could get Jirachi's brother (yes, that was its name) by: 1: Catch Giratina 2: Go to the Spear Piller 3: Realese Giratina at the Spear Piller (even though it's impossible) 4: Go away from the Spear Piller (because you just went to Spear Piller, so it only make sense you leave right after) 5: Save 6: Turn your DS off and do not play on it until the next day (because reasons) 7: Turn your game on the next day and check your PokéDex, you can now find Giratina at Spear Piller 8: Go to Spear Piller (again), you will get your Giratina back as well as a Rare Bone (not that special) and a portal that leads the Distotion World! 9: Walk into the Portal 10: Find a lake in the Distortion World 11: You will then see a reflection of Jirachi's brother, which you'll then get to battle! Or what about this one from Black and White. 1: Go to the Entralink 2: Go to a friend's world 3: Go into the forest behind the Entralink 4: Walk around in the forest until you'll stop randomly. A big, black Pokémon will take you to a new world, full of dark and evil Pokémon, who are all over lvl 100. You can catch these Pokémon if you want, but you have to battle the big, black Pokémon and you must catch it, or you WILL DIE IN THE GAME AND HAVE TO DELETE YOUR SAVE FILE!!!!!!!!! Or what about a fusion of Dialga and Palkia in Diamond and Pearl! 1: Get both Dialga and Palkia in either Diamond or Pearl, no trading! (or maybe, can't remember XD) 2: Go to the Statue in Erterna City and then something happens which I have forgotten, something with them fusing with each other, I think (Everybody in my class thought that the statue was a fused Dialga and Palkia) When looking back at our PokéGods, I fell kinda dumb XD (especially considering they were made back in 2007-2011, but then again I really didn't use the Internet that much until the end of 2011, and you could pretty much tell me anything and I would believe it (goddammit 2012) XD), but still, it only means that urban legends are still around, they just need to be told.

Lemme try this out: There is acutally a hidden early fiht against Giovanni in Lavender town. What you need to do is encounter the ghost 50 times over the course of one real time week, after that Giovanni will arrive to start his plan to fully take over the town and turn it into his base of operations, of course he fights you first. he has his normal ground type pokemon except they are mostly first stage evolution this time around. Beat him and he will drop the Silph Scope himself before retreating allowing you to get the poke fluth earlier.

I don't remember how I heard it, maybe kids at school, maybe the internet but it was when I was very young playing Pokemon red back in the day, Where apparently if you did something (can't remember what) you could go to a magical strip of grass that would let you encounter any and all Pokemon in the game, all 150 of them. ahhh I remember Pikablu..My "freind" from school told me you had to give Pikachu surf 152 times (because that was the supposed number of Pikablu and it came right after Mew in the Pokedex) SO anyways It will finally work and he will learn surf and turn into the almighty Pikablu. the wierd thing was that I actually wasted my time to do this and when I went to 152 times and it didn't work ,Pokemon Gold and Silver was announced with the Pokemon Marill... I was so mad I broke my "friend's" Gameboy the next day at school.. it was well worth it. :3

Cool dude my friend said how to find grassdos(grass type bird cuz you had zap does/molders/articuno ) the how is this you need only grass pokemon then get a pidgey level 32 and use fly to vermillion and find an odish and kill it and now you ll have a grassdos (all your grass types and pidgey are gone!:D)! Yay friend, Ruby and Sapphire came some time later and I thought Xatu was grassdos but he wasn't! :(

Y'know what's funny? In the new Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, "PokeGods" exist, ones that are currently unavailable with normal gameplay. These PokeGods are: Diancie, a Rock-Fairy type, Volcanion, a Fire-Water type, and Hoopa, A Ghost-Psychic type. While these Pokemon are mostly unknown, it is possible to obtain them via hacking. Now let's see if people create absurd stories about how to obtain said three "PokeGods" in normal gameplay! (Yes, they do exist. Google it, even serebii.net has it)

I remember on the playground there was a rumor you could fight Professor Oak... funny, years later it turned out to be true (though the method back in the day was as convoluted as the Pokegod ones). I remember Bill's Secret garden (Where legendaries were wild pokemon in the grass!), a Mew method (not the truck though), some sort of way to get Ho-oh (Which wasn't called that at the time, I heard multiple names back then). While I would never go back to the 90s internet (lag, dial-up, shit load times, etc.), but I miss the mystery of itm and rumors spreading like wildfire.

Bill Cipher It's gonna be hard to do now that you can look up anything on the internet. Dang, modern information technology sure does take away from children's imagination, nothing's the same anymore.

I love this video, I remember some of these "tricks" to getting mysterious pokemon that weren't in that mythical original 151. Back before the internet was so accessible and being much younger, my imagination made anything seem possible.

Ah, this takes me back to a time when I was new to the Internet. My brother and I printed off a bunch of pages from a now-long-gone site that was mostly about Pokégods, and then we went through all the stories to see if any of them were even plausible. Shocker: exactly none of them were (although I recall there was a non-Pokégods-related cheat that was, but I don't remember which one that was - wight've been 'get Mewtwo while surfing along Cinnabar coast'). Still, it was a lot of fun discussing them.

Its funny looking back on all these things, and how ridiculous the theories actually were. Not to mention how many i actually tried in my younger days playing blue/red. But it was the things like that, like he said in the video, that made games like pokemon and some other titles much more interesting and mysterious to gamers! good video subbed :)
