It's kinda amazing what you can put together and actually game on these days. I put together for curiosities sake, a complete build on PCpartpicker around this chip, including a cheap display, keyboard mouse combo kit, and cheap gaming headset. Under $500 before shipping and US taxes. Absolutely insane. I would have killed for this kind of performance in a computer when I was 12-16.

yes it does provide a really good all round experience and the single core performance blows most of AMDs line up out of the water

Not a bad performer this one, did fine on Wreckfest :-) Got to manage expectations, nobody is going to get the same performance as a dedicated GPU but have to say im a bit impressed with this. Cheers Mike and Kath :-)

it was a very enjoyable experience and for those on a budget or slowly getting a rig together and can't afford the CPU and GPU at the same time iGPUs are at the point where they can easily be a stopgap

Honestly never realised how good an apu good be. When you consider those little mini pcs sell with celerons installed for couple hundred pounds and cannot play any games this combo makes great value! What about building a pc for say media light gaming in small case? Thanks for for reviewing Mike and Kath👍

The i5 12500 has the UHD 770 graphics onboard which is a bit of improvement from the UHD 730 graphics. With graphics card pricing going down an APU seems to make no sense unless you just want a system up and running now to upgrade to a GPU in a few months time.

yes as i bought the setup it was right on the time that the crypto crashed and nvidia did a lot of stock drops so it lost it's appeal sadly

With an AMD APU, you're usually sacrificing something, like some cache, number of PCIE lanes, or PCIE version. With Intel, there is just the with IGP model, or the usually cheaper without IGP F model

yes that is actually a good point that i totally overlooked, there isn't a performance penalty with Intel where all the G series have poor PCIe lane number and bandwidth

I found some of the modern 2d scrollers or isometric games very playable on apus. I played Deaths Door to completion on my 3400g.

For a couple of days after selling my gpu and waiting for a new one to arrive I used the igpu on my 12500. I honestly didn't notice much difference. I don't know if that speaks to how good the igpu is or how old the game I was playing is.

Yes we all remember the OG Intel iGPU being worse than bottom of the barrel and only useable for those utilising quicksync or pc troubleshooting. They’ve made some strides and it’s good to see some actual basic gaming (good for the young kiddies out there) as shown. The good thing is you can get a number of free to play games, very cheap titles and other games given free now and again by epic to get you going 🥰👍😇. I’ve personally got all the freebies when they have them (except one weird indie based game - missed it due to life being hectic 😂😝) and accumulated 150+ games on epic as a result. Many of these I let my young nephews browse now and again when they visit.

yes it is a totally useable iGPU now and will allow you to play "most" games at reasonable framerates, now the GPU market is hotting up hopefully most people won't need to rely on iGPUs again for the foreseeable future

Despite the low clockspeed this igpu is very good TR 2013 averages 55 fps on the 4000 ryzen apus.

the core performance wipes the floor with it, the GPU side i feel the AMD drivers are more optimised but speed wise very similar to my mind

So you can’t figure out why your textures won’t load, yet you only have 1/2 of your cpu connectors plugged in?? Maybe this is the issue mate did you try again with all your wired plugged in?

that's just for power delivery...if i'm correct... the socket itself can provide 150w max, 300w max with 1 8-pin connector and 450w with 2 8-pin...my cpu is a i7-12700k ( up to 180w at 100% load ) and i only have 1 of the 2 connectors plugged ( because my psu don't have 2 cpu power cables )...and yes Corsair RM850x is plenty enough for a rtx 3080 paired with it the texture not loading is purely driver, ram/storage or game engine related...or corrupted game files ( based from 19 years of gaming experience )

should be fine without one, just make sure you have at least 16GB or ram

@@mikesunboxing Thankfully I have 16GB of 3200 RAM along with a 1TB Gen3 NVMe. Didn't really think a faster NVMe was really necessary. I've got a Seasonic 500W Gold PSU for this system, so I should be able to upgrade one day to a low powered GPU if needed. Cheers for taking your time to respond, have a great week!
