Haha, I emailed you a while ago on this exact topic: The lack of videos/review on this cube. Your support was extremely nice and explained that the cube is fine.. it's just that you've been busy with other projects. My Freeplay is on the way so I'm excited to try it as well :)
I own the free play and yeah it's quite good. The price tag is a lot to swallow, I didn't have to pay that price for various reasons but if I had to I might actually do it just because it's literally the only smart cube on the market that feels like a flagship cube.
I got one of these recently, and it's definitely the best smart cube out there. People also say that it has magnetic encoders or something, so it's not as likely to start missing moves soon. And it doesn't even feel like a smart cube - it feels so normal. The battery life is amazing, I've done about a thousand solves on mine, and it's still at 65%.
I've been using the 12 UI (first generation, not the FreePlay) since January this year. It's great, but there are a few things to be aware of: The ballcore consits of two domes. If they fall apart, which they can if you pull too hard on opposing (fx. to gauge tension) and/or have a hard turning style. If this happens, the flanges holding the two domes together, may break. If that happens, only glue is a valid solution. Also, GAN still haven't gotten their CubeStation app stabilized properly, so expect a lot of disconnects and issues. Many features are also still missing. Finally, when you show off smart cubes, you may want to consider using tablets for the viewers' benefit. At home, I use an iPad Pro 12.9", which gives a nice large display - so my old eyes can easily see the scrambles ^_^
Great video!! However, it is so frustrating watching all these videos discussing smart cubes and smart cube apps and the reviewers always skipping over how these cubes and the app can help train and teach people new algorithms. Most reviewers are obviously experienced at solving the cube so I can see where they might not get a lot out of the app or the cube, but I would love to see how non-experienced cubers might use the app to help us learn and train more algs vs looking at a printout or spreadsheet (which is not intuitive or easy). For me personally, this app is the ONLY reason I was able to start to tackle advanced OLL and PLL algs, and it’s such an underrated topic that nobody discusses (and proves the worth of the cube for those wanting to get to sub 60, sub 30, sub 10). Just my opinion. Keep the great videos coming but don’t forget about us who are still learning! 😊
Man, you got me considering a factor why Smartcubes are good for new cubers. I normally wouldn't recommend it since they're still learning. But Smartcubes being a good learning tool could really tip the scales.
(Not about the 12UI, but on the topic of MoYu's smart cube) I wish Gan's robot would have a firmware update to allow me to set it into an infinity mode that the MoYu's robot can do. I can't find a reason to get MoYu's robot, but that's the only reason why I want it so badly.
I just went to my first competition, and i got a NR in 3x3 for new competitors. i normally average 12-13 seconds, but i got an average of 10.59 and a single of 9.72. I also sat at the same table as Tymon
The 12 is considered the best by most top cubers, hence why it's called a gan 12 ui, not 11 or 13 , but if you're going to buy it I would wait until gan drops the price like they did for the 11
hello i am sorry that i am going to be roud ,we need the orange side cubicle custom lubes and cubes . Its been 2 years since the video plz , do somthing .
Can I get a sponsor from TheCubicle in first competition, please. I can't show you my WCA account because I have not been in a competition before but I have 700+ sub. and I'm sub-20s on 3x3.
My biggest frustration with the smart cube experience is definitely the bots on multiplayer. I can understand they don't want people waiting for ages to matchmake, but the fact that every bot can't even get a sub 30 and you're waiting for ages every single solve makes it a really agonising experience. I don't get why they can't make the bots slightly slower than your global average or something, at least then it might be interesting rather than waiting for them to dnf every solve
agreed, and the matchmaking leveling up takes way too long + there's a cap of 200 rating per day which is annoying Without that I could easily be a lot higher ranking
to be honest, I really liked the 12 ui but I then I got a icarry2 from my friend and I set it up with some dnm37 and some weight 2 and it felt so good, so personally I like the 356 icarry2 better.
