Gandhare Rifle Review - Sundarpatan Update - theHunter Call of the wild 

The “Gandhare Rifle” in Call of the Wild is based on the Gahendra rifle, which is a Nepalese mimic of the Martini-Henry because the British would not give them true Martini-Henry rifles. As such, their specifications are slightly different from the Martini-Henry and I’ve never seen them with a scope. Still, they should be able to take class 9 game.

I LOVE the reload animation! The way you just chuck the spent shell with a swing of the rifle is really cool!!

Nice shot Ron! Without the scope on the rifle you managed to shoot the Nilgal 200 meters away, very impressive. I like the sound it makes and the smoke after you have shot. I think I'm going to practice my shots in Hirshfelden with this rifle when I get it when I get the DLC for the new reserve next Tuesday. I know I will need practice because I'm not good as you 😉. I hope they add the scope for the rifle later.

The ammo is black powder which isn’t pushing the round as fast as modern ammo, but that’s not really an excuse because the Sharps rifle that fired black powder could use a 45 caliber bullet to take on a buffalo

I was counting on a class 9 black powder rifle. They even hunted buffalo with a black powder rifle

I noticed you don’t use Zeroing. I saw from other CCs that if you have the Zeroing skill, and change the range, the peep sight will also adjust, presumably making the gun more accurate, if you can see that far. As for a scope, they weren’t used on the real Gandehare rifles used by the Nepalese military; the guns were individually handmade, so I doubt they had access to “modern” optics at that time either.

Don't know why but it fits the rifle with this pop up scope. Makes it feel realistic. And I think it should go to class 9.

Was planning on getting this straight from the store but think i will now just wait till the story plays out, No scope and teh fact it doesnt go to 9 really surprises me considering the round size, It should easily be able to cover class 9

From the videos I've seen and the way this gun whollops animals, it's over powered for class 4-8 and should be bumped to 7-9. Also in Texas many places require a minimum of a 300 magnum to hunt Nilgai because their skin is thick and they can really hold a bullet. They should be bumped up to the same class as elk and be made a little tougher to knock down

I'm fine with it having no scope, but it should definitely go up to class 9. I get that the round is underpowered by the modern standards despite its size, but it's a game, not real life.

yes a scope and heavier bullet woud be nice.

They could have allowed the muzzle loading scope to it even though not technically/historically accurate it would not have offended my sensibilities.

A lot of people were very shocked that this weapon cannot take on class 9 animals. This is because the real-life rifle that the Gandhare rifle is chambered in .577, which is a super high caliber that's powerful enough to take down Elephants. Speaking of Elephants, do you wish that there were Indian Rhinoceroses and/or Asian Elephants in Sundarpatan, or are you fine without them (for now)?

I think i would rather use the musket from the smoking barrels pack. I think they could have given it the same scope as the musket or the 45/70 lever action

I reckon it should be a 4-9 with the current mechanics. As for the scope, I won't lie I think it should not receive any scope, I've been playing cotw lately with no scopes on my rifles and it slows the game down, makes it feel more like a hunt and less arcade like

I thought the largest antelope in the world would have been the Lord Derby eland? Certainly, the Nilgai is the biggest in Asia.

in my opinion, the rifle is pretty useless without being able to take down 9. i dont think it needs a scope though

The round this gun uses is the same ballistics as mid range 45-70 so there is absolutely no reason it shouldnt go up to class 9 animals, the new rifle on the new map should be able to take out the two new animals (not including the third class 9 animal water buffalo added to the game

YEAH oldschool hunting is the missing expierience in cotw imo. the hunter classic was and is so much better in this! And also I realy miss (from the hunter classic) a trapper suit wich ruduce your scent and sounds, other camouflage wich interact with the enviroment, a realy quiet bow like the snakebite, a handheld arrow gun, barrel feeding for bears and boars. It´s a shame that they haven´t include the realy good things of the hunter classic in cotw.

*sigh* guess I'm not buying this reserve. I was excited to hunt tigers with a blackpowder rifle but they made it another 4-8 to shill the .300 Arzyna. And yeah another round type for this one and the .470 would be great.

Your video is incomplete. I don't see what keys you use. How to use Gandhare Rifle? Open the sight with the mouse wheel. Move the iron down and up to adjust the distance? How? I saw that it can be moved! Don't do magic under the monitor.

4-8 seems reasonable if not ambitious. Yes it has a big bore but this is NOT a dangerous game rifle by ANY modern standard. Calibre size has no meaning really. Tell a game guide that your weapon of choice for Cape Buffalo is a 12 Gauge (Calibre .729) with solids. They will have you sign a waiver confirming your own death wish. At close range it has pretty reasonable blunt force trauma in its favour However even at the muzzle it is surpassed in ft-lbs of muzzle energy by the .270 and probably even the 6.5mm. In fact about the same muzzle energy as the .243 at the muzzle. At 200m it has well and truly been left for dead.

A .58 is WAYY above the .50 cal hawken

Nice gun HOWEVER, the game desperately needs a nice new .243....... Maybe a really modern one. They need to review all the guns they have in the game and try to make them more appealing. If they made the Rangemaster 338: 4kg and the Echers 30 06: 3.5kg that would be a great start. Cheers 🍻

Loving the look of the new map, but IMO i cant believe someone wasted time on this rifle. These ancient Black Powder rounds are like throwing bricks. Huge pill for sure (480 gr) so a bit of mass, but similar velocity to a .22LR and half the energy of a .300WM just very old tech. With a map that contains Tigers and Yak this would be the perfect time for a weapon pack DLC that had some big game rifles, a H&H or a .416 something you would actually use. We will all give it a go but IMO it will be one of the least used rifles in the game so i just don't see the point.
