The Relentless Fishing Team Head offshore while constantly keeping a sharp eye out for floating debris including weediness, birds actively working the area, etc. Sometimes you'll catch them in 100-300 ft and sometimes in over 1000 feet, so keep your eyes and options open. I agree, I have to. But everything they show on an episode is sell sell sell. Same thing with Florida Sportsman magazine. Try going 2 pages without a full page ad selling something. Years ago, I tried to get into the Oberto redfish cup here in St Augustine. I was told my boat wasn't big enough and didn't have 2 live wells so I wasn't allowed to enter. Turns out I caught a 8.5lb red that would have won the friggin thing. One of the anglers in the tournament seen me catch it and tried to buy it off me for $100. I told him $1000 and he looked at me like I threw shit in his face. Caught him on a Walmart (Shakespeare) rod and apiece of shrimp. Walked by all the snobs at the dock with their $300 rods, 40K boats and sponsor packages with big ol shit eating grin on my face. Times have changed now. I have a 17 ft Mako Skiff CC, and about $1000 worth of Penn Battle 2 rod and reel set ups. But I always try to remember it isn't the sword that kills, its the swordsman.
