Garage door opener troubleshooting 

A Google search took me to your video where I learned exactly what to look for in troubleshooting my own garage door. I had inadvertently placed a plastic bag in front of one of the sensors, resulting in the same symptoms you described. Thank you for posting this video tip for the rest of us!

My remote would open the door, but when I attempted to close it, I'd get a click sound from the opener. No movement of the door, just the clicking sound. The sensor was NOT blinking but I unloosened it and re-tightened it along with the other one. That took care of the problem. Thank you so much for directing me!

Two minutes later and I'm back in operation. My garage repair company charges $100 just to drive down my block, so you did quite a service for me. I am very grateful.

This saved me serious money. Your solution cured my problem. Took me about 1 min to correct. Turns out I had knocked the sensor out of alignment by bumping it with my recycle bin!! We live in the country and a call out for a service person is serious coin.

Thank you for this video! I had the same problem. I called Chamberlain and they told me to remove the sensor and point it to the ground and then up to the ceiling, then point it at the other sensor till the light came back on. I put it back into the bracket and it worked after that. They were very helpful. This was after I had tried many times to adjust the travel limits and setting the force limit. I also had a problem with the lights on the opener that light up the garage so you can get to the car not coming on. They told me to unplug the opener from the power supply and remove the bulb and pry up the metal tab at the bottom of the socket that contacts the bottom of the light bulb and put the bulb back and plug it in...that solved that. I was about to replace the whole unit but with their help was able get it working again. Very pleased.

I watched other RU-vid videos but none of them explained the problem as well as you did. You did a great job explaining the details and clearly presenting a solution. I was having the same problems with my garage door and the key to fixing it was the blinking light on the sensor! I appreciate you posting this video. You saved me $129 service call!

I just purchased a house, and the garage door was doing exactly this. I reprogrammed the remote, to see if that was the problem, and nothing. Did a quick google search and.....I don't even have words to say, to thank you for saving me money, by moving a sensor half an inch down. My door works perfectly now. Thanks for not complaining about the fact that it took the tech only a couple of minutes to fix it yet you still had a $72 bill. You had the right attitude, you had a problem and for $72 the problem went away, that is all that matters. And, the tech is still employed and ready to help you and others with problems. Who cares how long it takes him to fix it, it was worth $72 to get it fixed. I just had a similar problem, in my case it had to do with programming the remote. My system didn't work, $72 later it worked. And I had a good visit with a nice fellow that was at my house for 5 minutes. I even gave him a tip so he could buy lunch on me.

My garage door did the same this morning, I had went through testing connections and saw your video. Turns out that was the problem, they had been bumped out of place and flickered. All fixed now. Thank you very much!

Thanks iScaper1, you have saved me a service call charge. My snow shovel handle blocked my garage door sensor, and all it took to 'fix' it was just to relocate the shovel, saving me a service call charge of about $70 to $100 bucks. Thanks once again

I did all these and nothing worked. I thought it was something with the sensors but always thought that since the green light was on, I was good to go. You are a ROCKSTAR!!! Thanks so much for doing this, worked like a charm. My one addition would be that alignment can be off side to side too, not just up or down. I had to pull the bracket out a bit to get ours aligned.

It's been a while since someone commented on your video. Your information is still current. I stopped at 1:57 in your video; checked the sensors, and one side was loose & out of alignment. I tightened it up, eye balled the alignment, and abra cadabra it started working perfectly. Thanks for saving me money; probably would have been $80 bucks or more for a tech to come to the house in my area. These seemly small things are RU-vid at its best.

Thank you so much for your sharing, I did not realize it but I knocked the sensor out of line when I pulled out the rake which was buried in the back near this sensor. It even stopped the long time flicker from the units light when operating. Thank you again!

Thanks for this. I had a more complicted situation, but your video helped me with it. The beam alignment looked perfect - light on solid. But apparently it was just on the edge of alignment, and the physical rumble of closing the door knocked it out of alignment. I moved it slightly, and it worked.

Excellent video. Thank goodness I found it on-line. I hadn't thought to look down at the sensor were a dog leash was blocking the sensor. And, this after quite a bit of time looking at the overhead control box and messing around with all four remotes and the wall remote. Should have come here first.
