Excellent series! Thank you for sharing this info. When I called around for estimates, the local companies made this sound like I could lose a limb if I tried it myself. I understand the physics and dangers behind torsion springs, but you gave clear instructions on how to accomplish the job safely. Thanks again.

This is one of the best online tutorials I have ever seen. Helped me a lot to not be that much scared by the "you will die" type of warnings for replacing a torsion spring on my own. I completed the job, without any incidents, thanks to the four great tutorials. Good job!

It sure is a pleasure to watch and listen to a true craftsman. Bill did a great job demonstrating and explaining in plain and simple language the correct and safe way to replace door springs. Thanks Bill. I didn't need new springs I just needed to adjust the springs. I watched the complete videos 1 thru 4 twice, to make sure I had it all down and I felt sure about handling a potentialy dangerious job.. Thanks again. John

Thanks a bunch for this excellent information. I know second handed what can happen when you use the wrong tools (the tension bars)are not to be substituted for anything. I saw someone tear open their hand once. When they loosened the spring it spun and the screw driver being substituted for the bars bent and tore a big cut in his hand while it was spinning. Oh the humanity! blood everywhere...:(

Thank you so much for this series. My wife and I were able to successfully replace our torsion springs based off the instructions. Only two hangups were having only a little clearance on the ends of the torsion bar (made it tight to put the new springs on) and the center bearing support didn't match the cones. We really appreciate the tips you provided and the detail of the steps. It helped change "fear" of torsion springs into a respect we could work with. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was able to fix my grandmother's garage door since she engaged the lock and tweaked the whole frame to almost oblivion. She's on a fixed income, so I thought I'd give this a shot myself and was able to fix it. It's working great. Thanks so much for your time and expertise.

Great video series. Thanks for saving me $200 by making it easy for me to do it myself instead of having to pay someone to do it for me.

Bill, you said, "It's only going slow because ...." Why? I didn't catch what you were saying there. It went both up and down slowly the first time.

What are LiftMaster's reasons to hate them? I have seen very few problems with them, more with Genie's openers than LM's. I've replaced many Genie's too.

What if the garage door goes down just fine, but makes tons of loud noise and doesn't move at all when it's going up? It has a screw drive I believe, and it seems like it slips out of the groove on the drive. Any suggestions?
