Like these simple comparison videos of YT popular products / brands. Plenty fans for both brands. 40 quid vs 18 for comparable results is big reason why I use HD. BH products hard to beat for results and value. Some gaps in range as far as dedicated products but nice to have less products on shelf from time to time so good to see other brands, including GT, doing some one stop shop products.
Thank you. I can't see myself getting rid of Surfex as it's so good and such good value too, but it's nice to know that if I'd run out I could just mix up some Decon Shampoo and use it as a replacement (you couldn't really say the reverse of that I don't think).
Thanks for that, I have to say that I hadn't seen the suggestion to use it for anything other than contact washing. Still finding things that Surfex-HD is great for - garage door, shoe soles, kitchen cooker hood, wheelie bins, walls & ceilings, plastic windows/doors/drain pipes...I've ever heard you can use it for cleaning cars! 😉
Another very interesting video, I've been using HDD Grime zero as I've mentioned before and it too is a very versatile product and at a decent price too , even cheaper if there's an offer on. The next video can't arrive soon enough 👍
Thank you! I need to give them a call don't I, as I know you you've spoken to them about it for me. I'm potentially going to go to one video every two weeks for a bit as I'm finding that I really have to rush these out as I'm working week by week, I think the quality is suffering a little. I've got some really good stuff in the pipeline that I want to spend more time shooting more examples of for the videos.
Just a quick thanks, this was interesting. I was surprised by the results and, yes, I could see the difference on the flip-flops. I often use detailing products around the house, I find them stronger and more cost effective than the stuff from the supermarkets. I guess the trim dressing had soaked into the bumper which is why you couldn't shift it, you'll have to apply it all over now! How would you clean off dressings? It reminds me of the problem of cleaning tyres. Stay safe.
Thank you, I found it interesting to make too in all fairness. I'm going to bang a bit of Surfex on near to see if that shifts that dressing....but I'm semi tempted to apply it all over and see how it looks because it's holding up pretty well isn't it 😂
Got it already and yes, it's probably one of the best products I've used for tyre cleaning, but I find it isn't a great wheel cleaner (ironically) even on regularly washed wheels.
@@SuperchargedLlama it works really well as a degreaser. I'm going to try it as a chain cleaner against surfex, the problem I have is I have to use surfex neat. Having said that it's still cheaper than a dedicated chain cleaner.
@@evanhartshorne that's a good use to try. I use SDoc1000 cleaner gel on mine, because you can pressure wash it off (and it's designed to be) or the Würth stuff when it's just cleaning the chain and not the whole bike.
Have you tried using GT Decon in a foamer to do the wheels too? I planning on trying the next time out as I'm trying to strip old sealant off the car to apply some Fuss Coat for the winter? I like the idea of using just the one product for the entire car. Thanks for the upload 🙏🏾
Thanks for the comment! I don't think I have tried that to be honest, mainly because my car, and the cars I regularly look after, are all too dirty when I wash them in order to use that as the cleaning agent. But I have used it as a pre-wash on them before and it definitely helps remove more of the residue than water alone, so the wheel cleaner has an easier job/gets to work on the properly caked on stuff.
Hey mate, looking at Jon's review of this product and a reply by GT about comparing this to Surfex HD as a strip wash, they say this has a "totally different level of cleaning power". I've heard good results spraying Surfex at 5:1 and letting it dwell then a contact wash with BH Auto Wash. If it helps your channel I'd love to see you devise a test, if at all feasible, for this specific usage. As Jon mentions, a decon wash is most effective when an LSP is in its last couple months so might have to wait for an opportune moment to come along.

I don't think either options are a replacement for a proper wheel cleaner, even a gentle one. With that said, if I were to use one, I'd use Decon Shampoo. I've got GT wheel shampoo and I don't understand why people rave about it so much, I don't think it's any better than any other "active" shampoo for cleaning wheels
@@SuperchargedLlama My thoughts exactly about GT shampoo. On one hand GT say its soap and formula is specifically designed to tackle brake dust as opposed to a standard shampoo but then GT wheel shampoo only works best on alloys maintained and it's not that good on neglected alloys for fall out removal or seriously embedded crude. So why would I use it as opposed to GT shampoo for the body which is just as slick and effective?
@@SuperchargedLlama It’s not a dig either on GT because it’s ability to retain suds throughout the wash process is incredible. It’s the fact that its window of use case is so narrow, there is not enough reason for the casual weekend warrior to get it when Decon Shampoo could what it does and more. Apparently Decon shampoo is dynamite on alloys themselves. Side by side comparison against Surfex HD would be nice.
@@kwl189 I can definitely do that, I've got a bit of Decon Shampoo left (won't be getting any more though, I don't see the benefit to it over an APC to warrant having both).
