So after 11 months of purchasing the Alfasud, I am finally driving it. We've done a whole list of fixes to the car amounting to RM16k. Let's see if she's a keeper or not after the first drive.

I had an Alfasud in the early 80's for 4 years. Your video reignited fond memories of it! Loved my Alfasud and as you said that raspy note from the engine was truly unique. It handled like a dream and gave me so many joyous moments driving to Singapore, the East Coast and up North from KL. I remember jumping in the car to drive all the way to Klang from PJ where I lived just for the thrill of driving it on Sunday mornings. Have had more than 20 cars since but none have had that emotional connection that the Alfasud could bring forth! It was indeed an experience owning one!

I own a '89 alfa 33. My car has the exact 1.5 engine with one double weber (as yours). I believe that i know the reason why your car fails to start. Try to sand (with sandpaper) and clean (with a special spray) all the electrical contacts and grounds. Mine had the same issue and after doing these it never had any other problem. Also if you haven't, replace the spark plugs and the best ones to use are the "golden lodge", but they are too difficult to find. I want to mention that these are the only cars that manage to make us so happy to drive with just 85hp and except of their great sound they are handling pretty nicely! With some 15x7 wheels and 195/50/15 tires they are a dream to drive and the appearence of the car also changes a lot. Keep the car, you wont regret it. My greetings from Greece!

I am Italian and grew up with an Alfaromeo Alfasud 1.3 TI. The TI model is on another level, 4 carburetors that make a unique sound. My suggestion is to try to turn this model into a TI model, but I think it may be complex for you to find the parts :-( . As for money and whether it is convenient or not, in Italy (very often) we do most thinking more on instinct and heart, you should not think about money, but if you like it and enjoy it. that's it!

I used to have Alfasud 1.5 ,1982 and Alfa Sprint Veloce 1985 . They were the best handling cars i had ever drove , 997 included.

This brings back memories of how two years ago I finally bought my dream 997 911 and spent months replacing parts and paint and interior to make it tip top again. The joy is immense but indeed the hole in pocket was indeed painful (esp in SG). The people you meet and know from these restoration journeys is also another intangible reward. Fortunate to break even when I sold my 911 but God I do miss the entire process😅

i still looking for an ori-ori alfa 145 2.0 n the 70s Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 will be my poison!!a keeper!but guess even more headache fixing...ur Alfasud can use a restomod!coz,restorigin is very mehhh!make it POP in the current era-can be done!!if tat was mine,i'd do it!coz,i went ahead buying n spending 16k oredy*eh quite reasonable for a headache fix taking months!Kudos to Kenzone!!but,an Axia tank is soooo potong wei n also the odd loc for condenser!!we need bespoke restorers for classics n niche models with enthusiatic passion,dedication n precision detail works!!ya,many wokchops dowan do mcm2 one!!all only for the profits n ease!!

Some of these cars, never show up on classifieds. Or when they do they get snapped up fast. Either that or through contacts.

I bought and restored an old Peugeot in Singapore for around RM60,000, so this restoration to this stage is way cheap by comparison with a lot of parts needed and work!
