Question - what cars get the most seat time when you grab the keys for fun? You have some great cars at various price points, but admittedly some don’t get driven. Which is a shame. You also have some very similar cars. Variety is the spice of life. Your mid engine Ferrari collection is very similar. They are basically versions of the F142 chassis of the 458. You have the best version (speciale aperta) and others. I would probably thin that collection. And look to augment it with some other cars that admittedly aren’t RU-vid friendly. Cars that give drastically different experiences. Cars that are palette cleansers, or incredibly basic, or are from entirely different eras where driving them is an entirely different experience. An old Alfa 105, 50’s Porsche, or 2CV or something else where you can floor the throttle judiciously without breaking the law or being unsafe. The idea is the same as why Chris Harris has both an E320 cab, E28, Peugeot 105, Landcruiser and 2CV is because each provides a varied experience that you can’t get today from modern cars. Finally, your garage physical setup could make it harder to actually drive all the cars. Accessing anything towards the back means you might need to move 3-6 cars. I’m guessing you allow them to warm up before shuffling them around. So pulling out something and re parking all the other cars could take 15-30 minutes. That access is a big hindrance. If you had several parking lifts, that would probably enable you to just grab the keys to 1/2 the fleet and be on the road in a minute or two. Something that improved access would probably be a godsend.

Maybe invest in some trickle chargers. For me, not enough variety of purpose in the collection. Too many cars are two seater sports cars of similar type from a narrow age range. I would like to see a more eclectic collection including some older stiff. Did you know that you are entitled to main dealer parts and labour discount (up to30%) on the Phantom given its age? It is called the 'Paragon' scheme and was introduced a couple of years ago. I am a long time owner of a Phantom Drophead and the scheme has proved itself worthwhile.

Beyond the avantime there's another suggestion I can only recommend, a V12 front engine Ferrari... As a Ferrari lover, you must have one at some point. That sense of limitless acceleration and the way it delivers the power is quite unique.

Plug the Lotus into a CTEK charger on recondition mode for 1.5 hours and then charge it up as normal this may save you having to fork out for a new battery.

I do think the suggestion of a new Lotus Emira is sound...the reviews of those taking delivery do seem very positive on this car. Certainly better than that terribly nostalgic but disappointing Exige? 😳 (On the 458 Speciale Aperta, you need to be like Rose in 'Titanic' and ..."Never let go!") 🙏

The problem with more cars is each gets less air time (especially this year), but if you really want something different get something just to go mad on track with or even better, once you have driven most Ferrari’s get involved with a race program and chart your progress. Am sure Josh could give you a few tips. Whatever, keep going with what you like, we are just along for the ride (virtual).

Damian Just a thought about a replacement for the Lotus Elise - what about a Caterham 620S SV ? Certainly one of the most entertaining cars in my collection and my go-to car for outings with my fellow members of The Old Gits Car Club ! You're not getting any younger Chap and you certainly won't regret it. PS I fully understand why you didn't appreciate the Elise. I swapped mine for a fully sorted Alfa 4C a few years back and , guess what, I still own it and one of my favourite cars along with the Caterham. All the best Wolfgang

Best place to get your car MOT’ed is at your local authority Council garage as they don’t have the facilities to fix the car on site so they are more likely to pass the car. Whereas a typical garage will be looking for advisories to charge you more money 👍🏻

Just an idea: Have you thought about hiring a local retired enthusiast on a part-time basis to manage taking the cars to be MOT'd, serviced, repaired, valeted, so they're always ready for you? I suspect the freed-up time would easily pay for it.

Why buy a new battery for the Lotus?? Have you tried charging a known good battery while having your dead battery att to the good via jump leads? This has worked for me with AGM batteries.

My suggestions: 812 GTS, 296 GTS, Purosangue, ...MC20. But I know you weren't that keen on the MC20 and you have the 675LT, which I guess fills a similar space. I'd ditch the Lotus, and controversially the 458. But, at the end of the day, I think the suggestion to draft a list of your perfect 10-car garage is a good one. I suspect you already own at least half that list, so it may not be that heart-wrenching to let the others go and fill their spaces with cars you actually prefer more. Anyway, you already have a great collection, as I'm sure you know. Good luck!

It is a shame that your garage is not big enough, so why not look for a new and bigger garage. Most of the suggestions you read up on were for cars you were going to get. What I was going to suggest to get a garage that you can spend more time in and make it a little cozy. I grew up with old American cars and everything about its car culture. The thing that many of those who hang out with old American cars mostly from the 50s, how they furnished their garages and even homes. So it is very common that they bought up an old rear section of a car, removed the trunk lid and rebuilt it into a sofa, where the rear section was painted and chromed parts and that the rear lighting was connected. What you can do is the same thing, but then you use a rear part from an old American car, so buy a rear part from a car rear part you think looks good and build it into a sofa to keep in the garage. The front part from any car that you think has a nice front and rebuild it so that when you open the hood, there is a cooler underneath for drinks that you like. Buy a blank engine block that is painted nicely and build in brackets so you can put a glass top on top, then build in piston legs. Buy in if you like old gas pumps that you refurbish and have them as an ornament in the garage, signs of the car brands you like hang these on the wall. There is as much as possible to redo the garage so that you can stay there and relax and enjoy looking at your cars, have friends where you can sit and talk and relax with a cold drink.

I think your drive every Ferrari program should satisfy your needs for automotive variety. The best of the best. What fun and what an accomplishment to aim for. As for what you own, it seems your volume of vehicles and keeping up with maintenance, MOT, etc, is a burden on you and takes away from your driving time. So based on this video and other things you have said in the past I don't see why you don't cut it back to just the favorite few, but drive each of those select few more. When tired of each replace it but sell the one you tire of. For example it seems the Pista Spyder would be an ideal car for more use, rack up the miles, and don't care about resale value. The value comes with your driving pleasure (specing it in Italy, the trip to the Alps), in the moment, and the memories, not with the money you get when you sell it. I bought a Cayman R new and now have over 66000 miles of mountain driving on it. A GT4RS is on order and will start build in a week. Once I get the GT4RS and drive it to the mountains I will decide which Cayman I like better and keep it and sell the other. I don't want to be weighed down with two even though each one will have it own advantages and disadvantages. I have other things to spend time on. To each his own. A real first world issue. 🙂

Replace the Elise with a Caterham SV Super Seven 1600.. not the sharpest handling one in the line up but it’s really compliant and that noise.. with its Jenvey throttle bodies.. best looking model IMO and has more than enough power. I’m biased as I have one. A refreshing experience! ..and you’ll fit in it! 😄

I suggest that you get a C Tek CS One charger. The Lotus is a recent car and this should recondition it’s battery. I leant mine to a friend and it restored 3 dead ones. And it can charge lead acid, lithium and you can clip on to poles either way around. Brilliant charger. No not an F40 but an F50 BTW. Happy Christmas.

Great video as always. Improvement to the garage: get some lifts to gain some vertical parking spaces if an expansion is too much for now. As for a possible new car, I would suggest a Ferrari 812 GTS, I think it will be a great addition to your stable along side your Speciale Aperta and Pista Spider. The problem with having a lot of cars is that you end up driving some less and less; therefore, you should rearrange your garage, then force yourself to keep only what you garage can fit. That way you will make the hardest choice on what to keep, and I believe you will keep what passionate you the most for reasons justifiable by you alone.
