The first time i heard Garbage was around the 90's when i lived in Peru. Instantly, i felt in love with Shirley Manson and of course Garbage's songs. Today, i still a fun of this amazing band. Thanks for posting this video.
Sorry to be responding to this three years after you posted, but the original remix (which is the version most people know) also samples Madonna's "Bedtime Story" (The "Uh" moan at the beginning and throughout).
Wow this live version of this song is so sick! :) Her voice is so haunting und better than on the studio version. And once again they have that "James Bond title track" vibe which is just so amazing! :D
The way she sings it, she means EVERYTHING she says. Not sure who's more scary Shirley Manson or Alanis Morissette with "You Oughta Know ". I'd say it's a tie.

Eek....I've always been one to say Shirley can do little wrong, but Miss Manson really destroyed that song. Not in a good way, either. One should really brush up on one's lyrics if it's been twenty years since you last took a stab at it. Trust, all of the Garbage fans in the crowd were singing them correctly.
But her voice sounds better than on the studio version and it has much more power live. I was so impressed by this performance and she was so into it I wouldn't even have noticed she forgot some of the lyrics. So she clearly did not destroy the song. You should listen (or better not) to some concerts from Courtney Love from the latest years. Then you will see what it really means to destroy your own songs.

uh..... yall..... she completely, straight up forgot the lyrics for most of the song.... like just spaced and started making shit up. I can completely appreciate a good improv, happens to the best of us...but she REALLY messed up. Sounded perfect per usual.... but uh... let's be real.
Elizabeth Schindler true I had to rewind cause I knew something was awry but she didn't really show it. She kept going. That's pro. Not like Mariah Carey.
I also thought the spacing was strange and the lyrics were off..the band of course sounded like fire and shirley usually nails everything so I just assumed that she was having a bad moment or something was going on.
