Food chain disruptions from soaring diesel prices to fertilizer unavailability and price hikes along with reduced exports form Russia and Ukraine may mean substantially higher food prices across the world.
Prepare now by getting a garden started.
And getting a garden going takes some learning. I and others in the community can help you learn.

Well said, John. I couldn't agree with you more. I'm in my second year of BTE Gardening in Northern California and it is still "hard." Lots of learning still to do, but am thrilled with the anticipation of a good yield this year. The garden is looking good. I've been putting all my money on survival things for several years. Each year it gets more and more urgent. I just pulled the plug and bought a food dehydrator this week! Blessings!

I think that dehydrator is more handy than canning! And we used to make watermelon dehydrated and it's like candy! BTE may be the easiest way to 'ease into' gardening. you can let it sit while you learn things and it does so much work, saving the person much effort. And anytime you think your garden is just about full you realize you should have kept adding chips to more area to prep it well before ever needing to use it. With BTE there is a bit of a slowish start though... second year you'll start seeing beautiful soil now I bet! And this year and next will be easier, and each after that is easier. Growing food may become very important, and doing it without a lot of expensive amendments, fertilizers and equipment may be even more handy in the future. Have fun and many gardening successes!

@@Rivenrock - My 9-tray Excalibur arrived so I bought some frozen vegetables for its maiden voyage. I will definitely try watermelon based on your recommendation. My soil and chips have a lot of fungi this year. I learned about mushroom tea and put that on everything, too, but still my plants aren't going "crazy." They seem slow-growing so I know the balance isn't quite right yet. Now, if I could just get the wind to play nice! Always something, right?
