Such a well made machine. That piston is handling a lot of weight effortlessly. Great work sir. I am also very sure that you are someone's amazing grandpa 👍👍
HAHA, yeah you hit the nail i recon! I got to a point in my life myself and said if i don't do this now i probably never will so just went for it.Now my bank account is empty , i spend all my free time in front of my lathe and mill and my hands are permanently stained black from machining cast iron all the time but it will be worth it in the end! Most of my younger friends don't understand but that's their problem.Always fancied a full sized loco but that's not really achievable right now, but never say never hey, if i end up with a decent inheritance in the future a big block of land in the bush and a private 2' gauge line sounds like a great way to grow old.Id build a loco from scratch if i had to.
“This property comes with dank rideable model railroad. Located in an excellent school district. A great house for raising kids. Not a good property for dog owners”
Lovely build! She seems very zoomy, launched faster than i expected. I have ridden behind a 2'6" gauge Climax and it was a very sedate experience indeed, It was referred to by most of the enginemen and crew as the "anti-climax" for this reason ;) Always found these and Shays very interesting.
Fabulous layout and equipment in a spectacular back yard. What’s not shown is the enormous amount of maintenance that must be required for both the railroad and the landscaping. Absolutely brilliant.
Luckiest kid (adult) to have a toy like this. My childhood friend Dad had a train like this in their backyard. I rode on it and after 54 years, I still remember it. Maybe that's what made me work for the railway. ? Grown men don't grow up.....we are too busy playing with our toys
What a wonderful time I've had traveling just absorbing you trundle around your garden! This really is a very effective way of slowing us all down, I think this simple kind of viewing is becoming more and more popular for good reason. Thank you for sharing. We film natural gopro walks through soulful cities but it's lovely to see someone just traveling around their garden.
This is just amazing! I hope to have a train set-up like this in my garden some day. I run 1:10 scale Jeep's and Land Rover's with a road and trail system in my garden now. When I move to a larger home my goal is to incorporate a train layout like yours. Incredible work!
How nice to see an American designed engine in your beautiful garden. I am in America building a model of an English designed engine! It a smashing great video dear sir.
thats cool. I would build a backyard railroad if I knew it would not de-value my property. There is a place not far from me that the owners built a nice looking backyard railroad in and they ended up selling the house and property but they got only 1/3 of what they were asking for the property because the real estate agency and city both devalued it because it had an "unnecessary modification" according the the city.. So I stick with model railroads and PC games..
I'm seeing very few climaxes. I just wondered what made you decide on that particular style. They are just as interesting as the other styles though. What is the ratio of piston strokes to one revolution of the wheel on this model and compared to the other styles, the Heisler and the Shay?
