Welcome back! This week we are kicking off our garden renovation, which consists of choosing patio, painting all of our fences black, installing outdoor taps and power, and then seeing our new patio for the first time - bring on summer! This was also the week that we realised not having side access has some serious downsides - but as always, we persevere.
Finally, we give you some pretty big life updates and a little more info on where the rest of the year will be taking us - exciting and terrifying! Hope you enjoy xxxx
00:00 - Welcome back!
04:12 - Finding patio tiles
05:57 - Painting the fences BLACK
11:04 - A life update
13:26 - Outdoor tap and power
15:24 - The patio goes down!

At about 8:30 you mentioned getting ivy to grow up the back fence - lovely idea but I wouldn't recommend it! Ivy is beautiful, but it's ability to climb and cling onto surfaces can destroy fences and brickwork. Ivy is best in hanging planters, or if you'd like it climbing then planters with a trellis set a good few inches away from from the fence might be okay? Best of luck to you, can't wait to see it finished!

Thank you for that info Elle - I had no idea. I will rethink the ivy for sure! 💜

I also live in East London. I have big garden 90 Feet. I bought the house because of the garden ( sounds silly, but getting such a big garden in London is rare). But I did not think about side access too and now really regret not thinking about it as it need lot of work and can't move anything without messing the house. If you ever again plan to travel to India feel free to crash at my home in Delhi. You guys are always welcome.

One of my favorite videos yet and I've loved them all. Be sure to have your neighbors over for housewarming drinks when you are done! So glad to hear you say that you recognize/appreciate the unexpected way your life plans have played out after covid. I truly believe that it is a very valuable gift to be able to accept the good in life as it comes and not focus on the negative

Thanks! We thought the same when watching it back haha. Completely agree, should never dwell on the negatives. I look forward to what the future brings!

As ever after watching one of your videos, I’m exhausted!! Painting all those panels and carrying heavy stuff through the house will definitely build muscles. I hope Tom’s new venture goes well - I really admire your spirit of adventure.

I’m always using it as an excuse to skip the gym - even though Tom does most of it! 😂

Aw missed you guys last week, so happy to see a video popup today 😄 The garden is looking so good already, hope that you get it done in time to enjoy the sunshine - also you've made me want to paint my fence black now, looks incredible 😍 PS 100% invest in a fence sprayer in future, cuts down the paint time to honestly 2 mins
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
Aww thank you! I have yet to regret in painting something black. Tom did look into this and saw mixed reviews on the lower end range sprayers - so decided to just suck it up and use a paint brush 😂
@Scwibbles
@Scwibbles 2 года назад
@@FeedbyAutumn I'm looking at which wall I can paint black in my house ever since watching your videos 😂 Yeahh completely understand that, we ended up getting the Wagner fence sprayer (£75) and it's been fantastic - we justified it by thinking we'll be more inclined to respray it to protect it every year 😅

I recently did the same, painted fences exact same colour and put a very similar patio down with shed in the corner. Putting a patio down is actually quite simple, I’m surprised you didn’t do it yourselves! Rent a plate compactor and concrete mixer for £100 for a weekend. The digging out the levels which Tom did is the hardest part! Ps the black fences look great once you got some greenery in garden and it’s a very London colour to have!
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
We have decided to tackle the grass ourselves as when we watched them do the patio it did seem quite simple (albeit very hard work!). Yeah I am really excited to get some plants and colour in - I’m sure it’ll make the black pop!

Love watching your videos! I am also currently renovating a Victorian property so I can totally relate to your posts. I look forward to your videos. I wanted to ask, if you don't mind, where is the paving yard? Who were the pavers you used? Thanks and good luck with everything!
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
Thanks! We bought the patio tiles from an online store called Pavinguk but visited a local place first for colour ideas. We used someone local that also bricked up our wall. They were not the cheapest but were good! We tried to save money by brining all materials through the house. Good luck!

Loved this video. Fence colour is ace! Can I ask did it drip through in the end? We want to do ours but worried about the drips to neighbours!
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
We've popped our heads over and it doesn't look like any dripped over to the neighbours! Just make sure you don't have excess on the brush and make sure to do multiple light coats rather than doing one coat too heavily and you should be fine!
@cgm1624
@cgm1624 2 года назад
@tillybrown We just bought this to do cladding and it's more of a thick paint rather than a liquid so it's hard to get drips unless your drowning a surface in it

I put the electric cable into a tube along with an ethernet cable and spare string for any thing else in the future under the path. I doubt you'll need more than the electric. Are you going to have a fuse box in the shed? Exciting times with the festivals - I'm sure Tom will rock it.
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
String is such a brilliant idea!! I don’t think we’ve got a fuse box in the shed, just outdoor plug points ☺️

Thanks Anthony - glad we can share the pain! Never even thought of the importance of side access before, not that we could have got it in London either way 😂
