In this video I finally get the metal cladding on, but only on the back. The laser level was very useful in the video, mine is from Huepar, it was handy for getting the battens level and for ensuring the screws through the cladding then hit the batten. Sides left, which need cutting on an angle so I will go over that in the next video, enjoy!

There is corner flashing that goes on the back two corners, they are in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-28mquiJYG6M.html Then on the front two corners I butt the Cedar cladding right up to one of the corners on the back of the false columns, you can see it at about 15mins 14secs in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O0DK0_kk4Vw.html Cheers!

hey, what an amazingly helpful series of videos.. literally tonnes of nuggets of amazing tips - thanks for sharing !... i assume all the principles of applying the cladding would be the same to wrap a dormer as well? - ive got to be Class B or better as the dormer is within 1m of my boundary, and something like this would be awesome, and probabaly way cheaper than a standing seam roof. Also im constructing a warm roof, and will put a sheet of ply over the PIR to fix the roofing sheet to - do i need to install a breather membrane between the ply and the roofing sheet please?

Hi Rashid, Thanks for the nice comments, glad you are finding the videos useful. I would imagine that is the same principal to clad a dormer, but I would probably check with your local building control if they are happy with it. On the warm roof you should have a vapour barrier below the insulation, so then it shouldn't be needed as the should stop moisture coming up from inside. I would have a look at @SteveRoofer he has some great videos on roof build up and make up and is also very helpful with questions and suggestions. Thanks!

Excellent work and nice to see. I’m cladding my build in the next week too. Like your sheet lifting device, handy trick. I couldn’t tell if you will be metal cladding around any side windows? Agree about the comment suggesting insect mesh. Definitely worth trying to retro fit, But even I’ve not figured out the best way of fitting it around each trapezoid.

Thanks Phil, much appreciated! It took a while to figure out the lifting device! That is a good point those sections of the panel would still be open, and there are 6 per sheet. Have to have a think about that. Let me know if you come up with a solution in the mean time. Thanks, Simon

HI Phil, forgot to mention I don't have any side windows to clad around, there is a fence not far from either side so no real view to see! Thanks.

Hey Phil, did you solve how to install the insect mesh please?

First of all well done on a great build so far. Only thing I would say is have you put mesh at the top & bottom of the panels to stop bees, wasps & other bugs from getting in. If not you may have problems. I found this out the hard way. Left an air gap under my workshop & 3yrs on i ended up with bees underneath. They will nest in any place thats sheltered. Liam from oakwood garden rooms put mesh along the bottom edge up over the batterns before attaching cladding, Also as you've left the gap at the top you should have fitted some there also. Not a dig just some friendly advice

Hi Dave, thanks its coming on now, still taking a while! I thought I would have the cladding done on both the sides too today, but only managed the back! I did think about the netting and you are probably right I should have added it. I just never got round to ordering any. I think I will add some underneath and see if I can fold some soffit mesh in half and put it in the gap at the top. Thanks, all comment much appreciated! Simon

Great building. Can i ask how did you connect the sheets to the wood cladding? Thanks
@FatManBuilds
@FatManBuilds Год назад
Thanks! So I used OSB sheets on the actual structural frame work, then the membrane, then three horizontal battens, then the metal cladding fixed to the horizontal battens using these, www.cladco.co.uk/fixings-and-accessories/65mm-screws-to-wood-with-baz-washer-pack-of-100 They went through the OSB and mostly into the studs of the walls. There were a few places where they missed the studs and went only into the batten and the OSB, due to stud spacing, at those points I ground off the part of the screw going through to the inside. Hope that helps.

@@FatManBuilds Hey and thanks for the response, I actually meant how did you join the box profile sheets up to the cedar cladding. cheers
@FatManBuilds
@FatManBuilds Год назад
Oh I see what you mean now. So you can kind of see it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O0DK0_kk4Vw.html The false column on either side extends out past the side on the building then back in, and the metal sheet just buts up to the Cedar at 90 degrees in the corner, effectively on the back side of the false column. Because it's back in under the sofit the joint is pretty well protected. You can see how I built the framework for the false columns here, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KrS8GTPMdDQ.html Hope that helps.
