Strawberries in Growbags. Harvest more and optimize your growing space. #urbangardening #homegrown
I have many strawberry plants in the garden and on my balcony that need bigger pots. Now I found these growbags and I thought I give it a try. We'll see how it works.
I tested another camera in this video, because the camera that I like to use - my lumix - has some spots and two of you were complaining. I hoped that this camera would be better. It's okay when the camera is on the camera stand but it's shaking once you move it. The camera is quite heavy to hold. I've made this video and it might be interesting for someone that's why I load it up despite of those problems. I'm testing the camera and the strawberry bag. Some day I'll find the perfect camera for my needs please bear with me until then.

That's a nice planter and can be watered from the bottom as they are difficult to keep hydrated. I always struggle with sinkage with containers so try and use very old home made compost. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Hi Terry, this with the sinkage I have in my raised beds. Here it will definitely sink a little bit because of the twigs. Yes it's important to water it from the bottom as well otherwise the roots on top get too much water. Happy Gardening as always. Greetings Heidi 👩‍🌾💕

Yes, I like the strawberries with pink flowers as well. They don't get as big as the other 🍓🍓🍓 but they're very tasty. The flowers 🌸 🌸 attract bees 🐝 very early in the season. I have them on my balcony as well instead of other flowers. So it's a win win situation 😉 nice flowers, food for the bees and strawberries for us. Hi Malgosia and Nigel, we have another hot day today. On the balcony where we get the sun in the morning we had 43 C but in the evening it's going to rain and the temperatures will drop. I hope you get some rain as well. With these growbags I realize that one has to water 💦 every pocket separately and not only from the top. The first layer is totaly dry and on top the roots are too wet. I'm stil trying to figure out if they are as good as written in the advertisement 🤔😉 Greetings Heidi 👩‍🌾💕

@@gardentours yes I know what you mean. I used to have a terracotta version of a strawberry pot and that didn't work for me. You could always mix some water retaining gel to make the watering easier. 🤞Best gardening wishes Malgosia 🌱😊🌱

This spring I took all my strawberries out of the beds they were in and put them in pots 🤷‍♀️ this winter they will go back in the beds 😂 I agree they just don’t seem to like the small pots. Grow bag looks very cool though and hopefully works well for you. Have a great week 🐝 safe

I love strawberry flavor, but I have a taste issue with berries where I perceive only a brief moment of sweetness and then what I could describe as "grassy", and I'd classify that taste as "inedible". (It also happens with grapes, for example.)

Our strawberries really struggled this year. Alit of folks in are area had the same issues, very cool and wet winter and spring. Yours look great and I'm sure the tower will work great Heidi !! Cheers Jason and Colleen 🌱🍓🌱

That is an awesome looking grow bag for strawberries. Will you try to rotate the bag once you find a spot for it?

It would be great to be able to rotate the bag but it's too heavy. In the kitchen I have something like 'lazy susan' that might work but it's out of wood and it will break down very soon. I have to find a spot where the 🍓🍓🍓 get light from every direction. On my balcony the plants get sun only in the morning and they grow very nicely so I think it should work in the garden as well even when they are not exposed continuously to full sun. @@gardentours some planters here like the green stalk have a base with wheels so it can be rotated. I thought it would be pretty heavy.

Those green stalk planters are really tall. They must be quite stable. We don't get them here but we often get some heavy winds and then they probably would fall like my tomato 🍅 greenhouses.
