Spring garden in full swing. Tomatoes are not doing great but everything else is. Lettuce is almost all gone but I have some year round started under lights. #garden #gardening # gardendesign
Awesome video. I'm glad your butterfly bush from mamaw bloomed. I intended to comment on last year's video that it was a year ago that we met in person. What a highlight in my life. In regards to the butterfly bush, my first true recollection was in 1972. I was 9 years old. As long as I can remember, the bush was always under mamaw's bathroom window. I don't know what the true name is. Mamaw just always called it her butterfly bush. Have a good day! Thanks for such a good friendship!
Thanks Jimmy. I was so excited to see the blooms. When I took the photo and googled it I got this, Spiraea douglasii is a species of flowering plant in the rose family native to western North America. Common names include hardhack,[3] hardhack steeplebush, Douglas' spirea,[4] douglasspirea,[4] steeplebush,[4] and rose spirea.[5]. I don’t care what it’s called, it’s just beautiful. Such a great reminder of a great friend. Hope you’re enjoying your new home. Larry
@LSatch Looking at the blooms detail, I can see spirea in it. It may not be a true butterfly bush, but the butterflies love it. The new house is great. Carol and I are both really enjoying it.
I doubt my gladiolus will come back this year. The rabbits like the gladiolus, the deer like the roses. I am better friends with the rabbits. I can't harvest my potatoes without disturbing the lemon trees. So, I think I will just let them be for a while. One plant produced some flowers. You do have some nice red ones and those are perfect size for cooking in as part of a crock-pot meal. Not a good year for tomatoes.
