I'm a retired elementary physical education teacher. I fix things, make things from wood and I garden.
I also judge/announce at Highland Games. I threw professionally for 30 years in the games, holding the world record in the 16 pound sheaf 3 times and co-holder once.
We live on 5 acres in the southeastern United States near Atlanta GA. We have 2 horses that our grandchildren ride. I also raise goats as pets and chickens for eggs. I have about 60 years of gardening experience.
During the pandemic shut down I found bird watching a very good stress reliever. I enjoy making birdhouses and bird feeders to attract different birds to my backyard feeders.
I haven't had the heart to pull my cornflowers because the birds are loving the seeds, and I love watching them. They're an eyesore but worth it for the entertainment! I enjoyed your vacation videos.
Enjoy your vacation thank you for sharing your pictures and your family great video have a great week yeah we had a bad thunderstorm yesterday and lost power for the first time this year.
@@beverlyabner3307 thanks Beverly. I was just thinking about you yesterday when I was walking through the garden and wondering how you were doing because I hadn’t heard from you in a while. Well, great to hear from you today. I hope they got your power restored quickly. At noon they said the heat index was 102. Stay safe. Larry
@@LSatch thank you for thinking about us every time my husband and I go to my son's in winder I think about you and your farm in loganville we just love your channel!!!!!
@@adamcroker_hg you’re welcome. It was a great trip. Loved your IG post. The major reasons I don’t post my current workouts. Just lifting now to keep body parts moving not PR’s.
@@LSatch thank you, sir! Honestly, it was as much a reminder for me as for everyone else. We all get in our heads a bit, so it is helpful to get some perspective every once in a while.
@@lorisutherland7728 yes Libby has gotten tall. Going into 5 grade. Thistle is the flower of Scotland, my friend JM in Tennessee has some but they are considered a nasty weed around here.
beautiful. thank you for sharing this! my daughter just got back from there and around out west she was so humbled by it all and when they took a heli ride over the grand canyon she cried. Amazing America! 💚
@@astropoe2898 it truly is a humbling experience standing next to a touching those magnificent trees. Hard to wrap your head around the size and age. So glad we got to experience this trip. Thanks for sharing
I have not been to Sequoia yet, but we did go to the Redwood Nation Park and the tree's were so large David would be lost in the pictures we took of him next to trees. It looked like you all had a great trip. Thanks for sharing!
@@RandallAnderson3050 this trip was my son in-laws idea. I’m so glad he invited us. He said the redwoods are taller but not as big around. I hope he’ll take us to other places, we’d never venture out like this alone 😄
Whew~ well done on that "young man's game", which clearly was a pace yourself type project. We are getting ready to do the same, as means to seperate a rubber mulch border (around our park model trailer) from our gravel yard, here in the desert. We're trying to decide if we should lay down weed paper or cardboard beneath the 3ft wide rubber mulch border, or if the mulch itself will be enough to prohibit weeds popping up underneath~ soil underneath is small gravel mixed with hard packed desert dirt. My husband has already raked back all loose rock & smoothed out surface in preparation for mulch & edging. Truly appreciate the details & tips you included here, as we are using this same product from Rubberific. Have a couple of questions, if you happen to see this &/or have time or energy to answer. =) No pressure. 1.) Wondering if you used the same 1/4" drill bit for the stake holes that you used for the connector holes? 2.) Would you advise cardboard or weed tarp underneath the rubber mulch? We will not be planting any flowers or cacti, just placing filled pots on top of & wiggled down into the mulch. *I will be doing most of the hands & knees portion, since my husband has also recently had both knees replaced, & it's rather uncomfortable, as you mentioned. Between the two of us, I'm feeling confident in this project, even if it takes us a week to complete~ that's perfectly fine. Discovering these helpful videos has sure been a blessing, so we thank you for taking the time to film. All the bestDan & Samantha in AZ
@@RV-there-Yet wow, I love comments and questions like yous. I’ll give it my best shot. First off, I’ve never even seen a desert other than on TV😃. Nor have I ever used rubber mulch. The drill bit I used for the stakes was larger than the one for the connecting pieces. I don’t remember exactly what size it was but it was an extra long bit, like 8-10” that I either picked up at a flea market or harbor freight. I think it was about 1/4” or maybe 3/8”. I have a lot of stones underground so I had to get past those. In a few places I drilled my own hole where the rocks were under the pre drilled holes. As for the weed barrier vs cardboard. We built a small arena a few years ago and the man who built it suggested we lay down weed barriers under the sand. Big mistake. Within a few months we had grasses and weeds coming up on top of the barrier. My wife and I ended up removing the barrier so I could chisel plow. Talk about a lot of work. We had to scrape off the 6-8” of sand, a little at a time and cut the barrier up and pull out the pins holding it down. So I used cardboard and so far it’s doing great. Hope this helps and good luck.
thanks for posting this & your setup video. I had one question: Is there a way to make the videos crisper / less pixelated? When we changed the setting to "HD" it made very little difference; on a large TV screen, the pixelated images are very pronounced.
@@tylergoode2601 first, thanks for watching and your question. I’m sorry but I really can’t answer your question. I’ve never tried to watch it on a television screen, only my tablet. Once you switch to HD I don’t think it will get better. I suggest you reach out to support with your question. Once again, sorry I can’t be of more help
@@timsInSSI you’re not alone Tim. Those dogs are amazing. Everyone on the mountain was watching that cute puppy except for the two working dogs. They had their eyes trained on the sheep and couldn’t wait to get to work.
Great video, Sir! That crowd looks amazing, and what a beautiful venue. Really want to give those pillow-like sheaves a go. Best of all, my man Nik Aston getting his first professional overall 1st place finish!!
I keep my light off all the time. There is enough light coming in during the day and I don't need to see them at night. It saves battery, doesn't attract bugs or startle the birds.
Good morning! As usual, nice video. We went through a dry spell also. Finally got some much needed rain. Yesterday, the heat index was around 100 degrees. But it's raining now. About the mystery flowers. I like them also. In our area, some people call them surprise lily, and some call them magic lily. Have a good day.
@@jvcyt298 probably, none have come up yet. They spent the winter in the barn so they got cold. Cardinal flowers are just now starting to look like they will start blooming soon
Congratulations on the blueberries. I wish I could raise blueberries. It's very hard to raise blueberries in Indiana. I like blueberries, but I don't care too much for blueberry jam. I'm going to try to make Blackberry Jam this year.
@@Jimmy-wd5nk my brother tried to raise blueberries in Illinois without success too. They ripened early this year. I would think blackberries would make better jelly than jam because of the large seeds.🤷🏻♂️ Let me know how it turns out
