To be fair, I do agree that going to Madrid was a bad choice (and an excellent decision by spurs to sell him for that price). He wanted to win titles, so what was the point of choosing Madrid, they had no titles this year. But Spain has by no means has lesser football than England, there were 3 Spanish teams in the Champions League quarter finals this year.

***** there is no team in BPL which is on the same level as Barca or R.Madrid. A.Madrid is on the level of Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal. BPL is a 4 team league and La Liga is a 3... not really much difference at all

tbh, I dont really think players can be called overpriced because, the amount indicates how important a player is to a team. If Bales is sold now, i dont think he would be as much becuase of them having ronaldo, the same with neymar at Barca, or Ibrahimovic at PSG, you just dont get these type of players that often..... He's on fire now, shows that it wasnt just a 1 off esason with spurs, he is a great talent and im sure hes going to brilliantly with madrid!!

Bale is alright, decent enough player. not worth 150 mill, and hes nothing all that special. He can run fast, hes strong, and hes got a wicked left foot. His talents are physical/genetic. Im not convinced hes a mental player, not much of a playmaker...maybe hes more like that when playing for shittier clubs. Neymar has made more significant contributions to Barca than Bale has to Real, and at a third of the price (official book value ;)

Bale had a great season cuz he's in the best team, but individualy... he's just a faster average player... he's good, but there's soo many better players that are often viewed as worse than him, like ibrahimovic, suarez, van persie, yaya toure, reus, neymar, lahm, di maria, james, modric, robben, pirlo etc... DoesNotExist305 Depends. I've never seen Bale playing for real madrid as good as James did in the world cup. Of course Bale had more success because of the reasons I already mentioned, but we can't say ''definitely way better''. We'll see how things will go when they play toguether on the same team.

rahul ahmed Yeah, I don't think you read my comment. The reason Bale was better (and not by much) is because it was Neymar's first season at Europe(bale played in europe his entire life) and Real Madrid was the best team of the world while Barcelona was passing through a crisis (xavi and iniesta, the heart of the team, was getting old). Plus, Tata Martino did a terrible job with Neymar's position, he had no freedom at all. We saw what Neymar can do when he has more freedom to move and is used to the team he's playing, that is for Santos and Brazil .

***** It's also a shame that you're talking about last season. You're also not taking into acount that Bale's 5 years younger than Ronaldo. So for the present it would appear I was right. AND about last season, Bale was in the EPL and Ronalso was in La Liga, Bales goals won Spurs about 20 points last season, to do that at the age of 23 is incredible. All that people seem to see is goals, there's so much more to it than that. And who cares if he can defend? Managers.

***** Firstly the top players do peak beween 26-30 so you should assume players (top ones at least) are going to get better as they get older, until they hit 30, as I said. And yeah you can tell me how many points Ronaldo got RM last season. When Ronaldo is no longer the star of RM, Bale will be and RM will be doing better than when Ronaldo was, mark my words. My original comment was "I prefere him to Ronaldo myself. Much more natural." so I don't see why we're even debating anything right now. P.S. a lot of people prefere him to Ronaldo, mostly the more intelligent people who don't get too drawn in to Ronaldos showmanhip.

Im a Liverpool fan,. Im really pleased Bale is doing well at Real. I like Bale, I dont love him but I kind of feel proud a player from England/Wales is over at the most famous club in the world representing the UK and the Premier League to some extent.

bhupen Limbu Yeah bro i totally agree with you.. Real Madrid needs a playmaker because everybody scoring goals so they need a someone who share and create positions.. Modric, Isco is good but not that good as well as Özil or Di Maria.. Yes maybe Isco got really high potential but he is not a playmaker.. He always go to finish i mean 1 on 1 and he has limited pitch vision. Even Benzema got more vision than Isco..(Meanwhile i think Benzema and Ibrahimovic is the best passer -creative- forwards)

Gareth Bale is a great player don't get me wrong. But personally I don't think he is worth more than Ronaldo he has only had two amazing seasons (including this season) think of all the amazing seasons Ronaldo has had. Think of all the trophies Ronaldo has had compared too Bale. Bale is not as reliable as Bale.

Real madrid would never sell Ronaldo, only if he truly wishes to leave...he simply carries the team. Bale will never be like CR7. Cr7 is in the top 2 best player in the world...Bale may be top 20? He is far from being any THREAT to Cr7.

To be honest, in la liga, he's played 14 games, scoring 8 goals and 7 assists which means he pretty much scores or creates a goal a game, that's not amazing, but its good, especially for his first season in la liga
