Difficulty Levels: *Odie Mode:* For players who believe they aren't ready for the main game... Yet. *"Money can get you a dog, but only love will make it wag its tail"* John is replaced with Odie, and John's Shotgun is replaced with Odie's Slobber. Gorefield has returned to his original form as Garfield, and will not kill Odie, but try to get as far away from him as humanly possible. All Odie has to do for this game is to collect 50 bones scattered across the map. *Heathcliff:* The baby mode of Garfield Gameboy'd. *"Don't rush in, take baby steps."* John's shotgun has unlimited amounts of ammunition, while Bottles of Cologne, Teddy Bears, and Lasagna Pans are limitless and stashed in every portion of the map. The game saves every time John enters a room or smokes his pipe. There is no health or scent meter and Gorefield can't detect John at all, not to mention that he is ridiculously slow and weak. *Easy:* This difficulty is for players who enjoy the story more than the combat and stealth elements. *"The training wheels are coming off."* John's shotgun can fire 20 shots before needing to be reloaded. Throughout the map, there is an abundance of lasagna pans, teddy bears, bottles of cologne, and shotgun shells. The game saves whenever John enters a room or smokes his pipe. John can take more hits and his scent meter goes up very slowly. Gorefield's detection rate and speed have been lightly reduced, alongside his damage. *Normal:* The regular Garfield Gameboy'd experience. *"You can never go wrong with a classic"* All settings are as shown in the video above. The game saves whenever John smokes his pipe. *Hard:* A game mode that gives its players a proper challenge. *"Now this is getting intense, be careful."* John's shotgun can fire 8 shots before needing to be reloaded. Shotgun shells, teddy bears, bottles of cologne, and lasagna pan spawn rates have been lightly reduced. The game saves whenever John smokes his pipe. John's health bar is slightly reduced and his scent bar now increases faster. Gorefield's detection rate and speed are lightly increased, alongside his damage. The house is in ruins, leaving parts of it incredibly dark. You can counteract this by using the mode's newest item: John's Lighter. Within these dark sections, you can press and hold down the B button, allowing John to pull out and turn on his lighter. If you hear meowing or cat-like growling, turn off the lighter and hide. Gorefield's in the room with you. *Nightmare:* A game mode fit for veteran players. *"Death's not a threat, it's a promise God has created."* John's shotgun fires 5 shots before it needs to be reloaded. Shotgun shells, teddy bears, bottles of cologne, and lasagna pan spawn rates are moderately reduced. The game no longer saves. John's health bar is severely reduced, and his scent meter now builds at a moderately faster rate. Gorefield's detection rate and speed are moderately increased, alongside his damage. He now takes multiple forms every time John enters a room. The house is in shambles, leaving parts of the house unable to be entered. You can counteract this by tricking Gorefield into unblocking it for you. Make him follow you into the room with the blocked-off area, hide and Gorefield will do the rest. Of course, this is very risky, so only do this if there's no other choice. *Monday:* *ONLY RECOMMENDED FOR SPEED RUNNERS, PROCEED WITH HEAVY CAUTION* *"Walls have ears, Doors have eyes. Trees have voices, Beasts tell lies. Beware the rain. Beware the snow. Beware The Cat You Think You Know."* John's shotgun only has 1 shell, with no other shells anywhere on the map. There are no pans of lasagna, teddy bears, or bottles of cologne. The game does not save at all. John's scent meter is permanently on "Danger" and his health bar is permanently at 1%. Gorefield's detection rate and speed are drastically increased. He can now kill you with only one hit. The house is completely demolished, leaving some areas heavily dark and others unable to be entered. You can counteract this by using the same tricks provided in game modes "Hard" and "Nightmare". However, just because you have all these tricks up your sleeves, doesn't mean you should deem Gorefield less of a threat than he is now.

If you think about it, this is happening in one house surrounded by other houses, and no one realises this is going on.

Garfield gets progressively more intense as the game goes on. Certain actions will increase a statistic dubbed "Garf Level." When Garf Level reaches certain thresholds, Garfield becomes more dangerous, he starts to patrol new areas, and in some cases the layout of the house becomes more hazardous. Garf Level 0 - This state is at the very beginning of the game. Garfield isn't dangerous yet, and Odie is fine as well. This exists purely for the opening, and is changed to level 1 upon going to the kitchen. Garf Level 1 - Suspicious signs indicate that Garfield's up to no good, but this is worse than his usual mischief. The kitchen is wrecked, and upon checking the fridge, you hear Odie's yelp. However, Garfield disappears entirely for this part. Garf Level 2 - This one is triggered if you check up on Odie, or if you craft a Lasagna. Garfield will start haunting the living room in his Base form. He'll do low damage in this form and is easily dissuaded by the gun. However, he has a keen sense of smell. This is his least dangerous form. Garf Level 3 - After you pick up the phone when Liz calls. She gives some exposition on the Gorefield phenomena, and instructs you to do two things: Find a syringe, and keep a lookout for hidden bones. The bones will appear around the house in this state, and Garfield accidentally opens up the west side of the house, including the bathroom. Garf Level 4 - Triggers when you enter the west side for the first time. This is actually a separate level from the third, because Garfield will start patrolling the kitchen now, which he didn't in 3. More importantly, Garfield will go through the west side in his Charger form. This form rushes through the area, but actually ignores Jon entirely. Watch the tells of his approach. Garf Level 5 - Leave the bathroom. Now Garfield occasionally turns into his Sentry form. His largest normal form, Sentry Garfield will ask for an offering if you get too close, or else he'll kill Jon instantly. He's immobile, and likes to hold up important passageways, but the key in Jon's room will allow you to access the emergency tunnels. Be careful. A mouse will follow you through, attracting Garfield. Sentry Garfield is guaranteed to appear in certain areas, like the transition room between the west side and the living room. Garf Level 6 - Respond to the phone call. This one is from Nermal, he explains how the government needs a blood sample from Garfield. Garfield in the living room is promoted to Base 2, a faster, harder hitting version of his base form. The east side and attic also open up. Garf Level 7 - Setting the trap for Garfield. Garfield's other spawns are ignored. Now he will suddenly rush you in Charger form in any room. You need to make him rush into the trap in order to take the blood sample. Garf Level 8 - Answer Nermal at the kitchen window. This cutscene is important, and determines the route you'll go down. Either way, Garfield's spawns turn back to normal and he can now interchangeably turn into his Crawling form rather than his base or charger forms. Crawling Garfield has a long hitbox, and is very aware of you. He also starts patrolling the east side. The basement opens up now if you don't give Nermal the blood sample. Otherwise, he tasks you with finding Odie. Garf Level 9 - On the "Nermal" path, beat the O-Die boss. On the "Liz" path, find Arlene and beat the Bestial Garfield boss. Garfield now takes over the attic, and your scent level increases faster. Some unclaimed lasagna ingredients also disappear. Garf Level 10 - Check the front door. Liz is behind it, and what follows differs per path. On Nermal, she takes Odie and tells Jon that the hidden bones may be able to heal him. On Liz, she enters to help Jon save Arlene. Either way, she'll tell you where the gun is if you haven't found it yet. The house also becomes condemned. Garfield can now be in two rooms at once. Garf Level 11 - Grab Pookie. This is an optional state, but once you grab Pookie, Garfield's room becomes inaccessible. This also happens on 12 and up, but 11 doesn't cause any further changes. If Liz is with you, she'll also note that Pookie might calm down Garfield for a little while. Garf Level 12 - On Nermal, bring Nermal a hidden bone. On Liz, grab the cellar key unlocked in Level 10. On Nermal, the titular cat tells Jon that they need Arlene and hands him a crowbar just in case. On Liz, the titular human runs off to check on Odie while Jon saves Arlene. These states are both timed. If you take too long, the respective ally dies. Garfield doesn't spawn, for now. Garf Level 13 - Save Arlene and defeat Eden Garfield. Another route split from here, this is when it's determined if your ally lives or dies. If Nermal dies, you'll hear his scream from the living room. If Liz dies, Odie comes up to you cured, but whimpering. If you were fast enough, nothing bad happens. Spawns turn back on, Base 2 is upgraded to Base 3. The west side becomes inaccessible. Garfield begins his slaughter in full speed. Garf Level 14 - Head back to the kitchen. On Nermal Dead, you'll see his remains and Jon will pick up a note telling him the government will carry things on from there. On Liz Dead, Jon will fall to his knees at the sight of her corpse. On Nermal Alive, Nermal gives some exposition on why Arlene is so special, but remains vague. On Liz Alive, Liz reveals that she was able to cure Odie with the materials she had available. However, on all paths, Arlene disappears. You now need to find her, too many zone transitions and she dies. Spawns disabled. Garf Level 15 - Find Arlene in the attic. If you move between zones five times, Garfield kills her, the only thing in the attic being her remains. If you find her before then, you must fight Wall Garfield. Either way, the attic is now inaccessible and the living room becomes more dangerous to traverse. By this point, on LD+AD, Odie is also dead, all that's left is Nermal. He tells Jon that everything was his fault, and there's only one way to repent. On NA+AD, Nermal will chide Jon for letting Arlene get killed, since she's useless if she's dead. On NA+AA, Nermal takes Arlene to safety, but tells Jon he still has one last job to do. Either way, he's telling Jon to try and blow up Garfield. On ND+AD, Liz breaks in to try and help Jon. She laments that Odie was completely lost, and she had to kill him in self defense. On both LA routes, Liz tries to figure out a cure to the Gorefield phenomena. She asks Jon to distract Garfield for as long as he can, so she (and Arlene, if on LA+AA) can work on the cure. On ND+AA and LD+AA, Arlene reveals that she has low hopes for the situation, but Jon decides he has to do something. He escorts Arlene out the front door, leaving himself alone with Garfield. Garf Level 16-19 - Beyond 16, these are all optional. They're all otherwise identical, with spawns turned off. The zones become progressively locked off, all except for the basement. Garf Level 20 - Enter the basement for the final time. This is the most dangerous part of the game. Garfield starts using all of his forms to try and cut Jon off or catch him. Jon needs to make his way to the boiler room where he'll run into Seraph Garfield, his most dangerous form yet. His actions here determine the ending of the game. He can either distract Garfield for long enough, or try to trigger the boiler to blow. Boiler Distract is disabled on XD+AX. Jon must blow up the basement, or the fight doesn't end. NA+AA+BD - After distracting Garfield, the military storms the basement, shooting down Garfield with anti-Gorefield weaponry. Jon is hailed as a hero... but Garfield is still dead. NA+AA+BX - Blowing up the boiler exposes Garfield. He tries to escape, but an anti-Gorefield energy field knocks him down. The government takes his body away, as well as Jon. As a reward for his service, they intend on making Jon something more than human... more than a Gorefield, even... NA+AD+BD - The military storms the basement. Garfield is weakened, but he still overpowers them. Jon is cornered. NA+AD+BX - The house is blown up, but it turns out Garfield shrugged even that off. Nermal reluctantly gives the go-ahead to nuke the town... but Garfield escapes with Jon in tow. ND+AA+BX - The house is blown up. Arlene and Liz watch from a distance. It's unclear if Garfield died in the explosion or not. ND+AD+BX - The streets have descended into chaos. Garfield reigns over all. Those who enter his gaze become but mere ingredients to his next lasagna... LA+AA+BD - Liz enters with the cure, rushing Garfield. She manages to inject him, but he gets a deadly blow on her. After Garfield is turned to normal, Liz is rushed to the hospital. Even if she survives, Garfield must live with the guilt of what he did to everyone. LA+AA+BX - Liz enters just in time for the boiler to go off. The explosion destroys Garfield, but it also killed Jon. LA+AD+BD - Liz shows up with a weaker version of the antidote. Garfield turns back to normal... mostly. Jon and Odie live in unease around him for the rest of their days... LA+AD+BX - The boiler goes off, but this time Garfield is still shredded by the blast. Unfortunately, the pieces just heal back into more Garfields. The Garfield army goes on to take over the world. LD+AA+BX - The house is blown up. Nermal distracts Arlene from Jon's likely doom, and asks other officials to keep the area quarantined. Like ND+AA, it's unclear if Garfield is dead. LD+AD+BX - Garfield rises above the ashes of the town. He is now one with Jon. Jon is now one with him. They ascend beyond the stars. Also, the number of bones you have changes the post-credits scene. More bones have Lyman vow to return, less bones show Jon and Garfield's souls in their pitiable state.

When a simple Garfield horror game has more dread and suspense than most indie horror games (except FNaF).

My younger self thought this was an actual game and searched it up everywhere where i can play it

My parents say that I’m like Garfield because I love lasagna, and I just think about this

I like how Jon’s sent metre is at maximum and he has 3 HP at 2:20 and the next time he’s on screen he has only 1 HP

Friends:What was the first horror movie you watched? Me:It...it's complicated

So let me just recap this a bit so I can understand: Lyman knew about the whole situation and how it would end a whole two weeks before it happened, but the people in the insane asylum obviously didn't believe him because (surprise) he's in an insane asylum. Two weeks later the incident starts with Garfield infecting Odie and Jon running from Garfield. He had a chance to find 12 hidden bones for a vaccine, but failed and Odie died from said infection. Liz would soon later off be killed by Garfield as he continues to mutate in various ways. Nermal apparantly works for the government and needs a blood sample from Garfield for unknown reasons. If he doesn't, there will be consequences (maybe it was the nuke at the end so that the government doesn't risk Garfield from causing destruction after failing to get a blood sample and Arlene). Jon gets the blood for Nermal, but Arlene was added to the mix and needs to be rescued. Jon goes down to the basement to find Arlene however Nermal is caught and killed by Garfield upstairs. "I never liked you" may show that Garfield had a strange feeling about Nermal and it added to reasons why he killed him. Either that, or it more simply because of him being annoying. Jon soon meets a large more realistic cat which is either Garfield after killing Nermal and he mutated again, or a infected mutated Arlene. I'm gonna go with the former with this one. Seeing that Jon was planning to blow up the house with him in it, Garfield attacks Jon with Jon losing his arm in the process. With nothing left to lose, Jon sacrafices himself and sets fire to the propane tank and gasoline cans, destroying the house and (presumably) killing Arlene in the process. As Jon frees himself from the rubble, to his horror he finds Garfield still alive and mutated once more. With the town about to be nuked, Garfield announced his plan: he is going to destroy the world. However, Garfield still had a strong relationship with Jon for taking him in and feeding him lasagna (which was the same reason why he was put up for adoption in the pet shop). He saves Jon from the nuke by absorbing him into his body, making him "complete". He then rise from the fire and began his destruction. During his rampage the asylum Lyman was in was attacked, giving him the chance to escape. He felt guilty for letting his friends die and with his emotions overwhelming him, he transforms into a new muscular form, promising to make "them" pay. Note, he didn't say "him" as in Garfield only. He said "them" as in more than one person is responsible for this. Who did caused all of this to happen? Only time will tell... Seriously LumpyTouch, I enjoy these creppy horror video and I hope you continue on with what you enjoy to do. Congratulations on 100k subscribers, here's to 150k very soon! From the video, it seems that the government wanted Jon to get a sample of Garfield so they could analyze it and find a way to stop him (and weaponize him), but then either Jon fails to obtain it, or their analysis of the sample tells them that Garfield has no weaknesses. This results in them nuking the city in a desperate attempt to stop Garfield. The nukes were the "consequences" mentioned in the loading screen.

But mondays always do. *Gorefield looks at the newspaper in his head, he can faintly read the word "Monday" in the headline. As he reads the word you can see his body, mind, and demonic essence slip away. Gorefield is no more.* Jon: Goodbye. Garfield.

So one thing I do know from this is that the government needed Garfield's blood sample/Arlene. Since the middleman Nermal was killed, the government had no way of contacting them. So, they bombed the city.

People are enjoying this so much. Am I the only that’s genuinely terrified? There’s just something about the animations that are so eery, like they don’t move smoothly and their so graphic and not graphic at the same time. The fact he also only mentions Jon and Odie at the end is neat, cause he was Odie's original owner, and he was a friend of Jon's... Deepest lore.

The way he uses the music from the SNES "clock tower" is amazing. It makes you feel the tension; the terror Jon must be feeling. It makes the scenes so much more powerful.
