I currently have the 500 and after this review think the 130 will be my next computer. Any chance of a video using the navigation outside on a ride???? Nice one ☝️
i guess im asking randomly but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Through your video i finally figure out how to set Time of The Day, just because you showed it on there!! (Hint: It's Data Filelds > Others > Time Of Day)
been using it for a couple of months. The latest firmware update to 3.0 took care of all the major bugs present in the previous versions. It is actually usable right now but was a frustration at the start.
Which data are saved after a ride when the Edge 130 is used without pairing with a smartphone? The Edge 25 did not save the max speed, the Lezyne Micro GPS didn't either.
The only thing I can report is that I've noticed crazy spikes in speed when I'm doing 30 + Ks an hour go down a slight Hill and suddenly you doing 75 which is not right. the other thing is that I only can connect through the phone does it also automatically update via the phone?
My 130 doesn’t show navigation instructions. I can see the track and my position is correct, but there are no arrows or similar to show me when to turn. All my settings are correct so I should see them. Also when I set the ‘distance to next ...’ there appears to be only one and that is the finish...
I have a road bike and mountain bike, can you select or tell the Garmin wich bike you are riding so that you can save or know your total time ride, distance etc of each bike?
Nice video! May I ask if I should enable both “ANT+” & “BLE” for Cadence & Speed sensor? Since 1 sensor can only communicate at a time on “BLE”, unable the “BLE” will consume less power on my 130. Currently enable only “ANT+”.
Both ANT+ and Bluetooth should be able to handle multiple connections at once but yes, turning one off should in theory increase battery life. However, lots of othe factors like weather go into how long a battery will last
Hi just bought a Garmin 130 - picking up tomorrow. A simple question. I don't want my expensive phone mapping my ride via Strava in my bike bag on my rides, however, I want to leave my phone at home and do my ride by recording it from the 130. When you press finish ride on the 130 does this add to Strava?
Thanks for the great review. If Dave could tell us how to calibrate the elevation that would be fab as that’s the only thing I’ve had an issue with to date (incorrect elevation).
I don't think you can manually set the elevation, it does this automatically. The latest firmware update should sort the incorrect elevation issue so that's worth trying
A question I have is: Do you need to have your phone connected to it the whole time for the GPS to work? And also, do the Strava segments record automatically or do you have to start them manually?
You don't need a phone connected the whole time, the Garmin has its own GPS. Strava segments, if you've starred them on Strava, will record automatically
I bought one of these and yes it’s great but I’m not getting the 10-12 hours battery the reviewer got ... so far I’ve only managed to get about 4-5 hours active use from a full charge so far before it dies (albeit over a duration of 5-7 days between recharges), and in cool temperatures of 4-6C. I’m worried it’s not going to be good on long 100km (let alone 100mi) rides
It seems that temperature directly affects battery life of the unit. My suggestion, if you're gonna do a 100km+ ride is to disconnect your phone from pairing and use the straight GPS (no GLONASS or Galileo) and you should get the ride in. Pretty pathetic that you have to take those steps and basically not use the "selling points" of the unit.
Update - I’ve owned this device for 15 months now. Yes the battery life is very poor in the cold. It’s better in warm/summer temperatures ... up to about 7 or 8 hours. But still pretty limiting to rides of under 100mi or so unless you want to risk it (or take a battery bank). Still for the 90%+ of shorter rides it’s great value.
just brought a brand new one from Halfords for £99.00 delivered to replace my ageing garmin edge 305 that's starting to look abit tatty. hope I made the right decision.
Decent little device but can't get the rated 15 hours life from it, maybe 10 if I'm lucky and that's without sensors or phone paired to it, so couldn't imagine pairing sensors it probably wouldn't do a trip around town ha
I have the 130 but might just use my fenix 5 for cycling to get power and TSS. Maybe I'll use both as the 8 fields on the 130 are nice. Just discard the 130 data at ride end.
Guidelines state we have to tell you if any paid promotion took place. We are always honest with our reviews, if we didn't like a product then we would say so
@@roadcc I'm sorry bur did you even saw your own video? you have a video of over 18 min. On a product that is clearly a black and white edge 520. You constantly say how easy it is to use and how Garmin have learned and so on, when in reality it's not what is happening to user's and we obviously have the wahoo that is way easier to use on app. Garmin always sold products way to expensive for what they are and worse always had an interface way too clunky. But you say it's awesome. If you are not payed by them you clearly are afraid to say the truth because then they would not send anything else from their products for you to review which we all know would be a huge loss to road.cc. Don't worry we all know that you are not the only ones.
road.cc/content/review/249884-garmin-edge-130 An 8/10 review is slightly above average, we call out that it has mapping issues. If you personally like Wahoo better, cool.
