Hey, just that you know, the possibility to set the audio to mono can actually be helpful for people with a hearing impairment. If someone can just hear with their left ear, it is helpful to listen to music in mono mode because there are sometimes songs where you hear the drums on the left and the voice on the right (like it happens with the Beatles' stereo recordings) which can destroy the whole listening experience if you can just hear on one ear. It's just a small feature, but makes a big difference to some people! :)
They are very similar. I recommend checking out my comparison video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BTeTwdZgKiA.html Thanks for watching!
@@GaugingGadgets Garmin Coach. I set up the Garmin Coach but following some of the workouts are confusing. I am doing the Jeff Galloway half marathon plan. There are things that you have to repeat 3X. And I have to press the lap button. Somehow I must be pushing the wrong button and pausing it, or maybe it pauses automatically and I need to start it again when I get to the next part of the workout? And I assume that I would do the workout and not a "run" exercise. Also, for instance, if I set up intervals to do Jeff Galloway method, I would want to run 1 min/walk 30 seconds. I currently use a Gymboss to do this. So let's say I want to do run/walk intervals for 1 hr. Setting up courses and following courses would be nice to know how to do. I watched another video, and it was really hard to figure out where to turn using the map. I would also like to know what some of the data means, like SP02 and Body battery and V02 max. I guess a more advanced class, LOL!
This was very informative and I could follow pretty well by pausing and looking at my watch. The watch itself is pretty intimidating at first! The only problem, is that some of the things on the watch have changed somewhat since this video was made. Still very helpful!
Nice review and very thorough! I just ordered the 245 and it's supposed to arrive soon. Looking through the manual was quite intimidating. I'm marking this video so that I can come back once the watch arrives. Great job!
Great tutorials and reviews. Does this watch give you audible alerts during a run informing your estimated completion time based upon your pace throughout your run? If not, do you know a reasonably price watch that does?
Got this watch recently to replace my TomTom Spark3. It has so many more features, customizability and easy to use. However, a big disappointment is the GPS accuracy. So very poor, many times 30m-40m off. I was assuming replacing my TomTom would improve GPS accuracy, but was sadly disappointed. My old TomTom was about max 10m off. Surely Garmin can do better than this.
I want one of these watches - but watching you show me all the features i think this watch is too smart for me. Thats why they are smart watches i suppose.
Hi, great overview, I just got my Forerunner 245 (non-music) 2 days ago, Q- Do I need to keep my Bluetooth enable (on phone) all the time, to connect it with my Forerunner 245? Thanks
Very helpful review thanks. I’m looking for a GPS smart watch to use horse trail riding to track my rides and find my way back if lost 😂. After watching a few of your videos I’m tossing up between the instinct and forerunner, any suggestion which would be best? Thanks
Really really useful, i've looking at this watch, i do SUP and this watch doesn't have that sports preloaded, but looking at the options you showed i figured out what data the watch could give me
I just got the 245, and there are three fonctions I really would like to find: • I'm able to configure the fields in the activity data screen, but not the gauge around them. I would like to show, using the colors of the gauge, my heart rate zone or my cadence around the other data. There is room for that, but it is wasted. • On my old Forerunner, I could have automatic laps when I passed a specific spot (on some tracks, it is perfect). Sometimes, you can't know the actual length of a track, or you know each laps will not be the same (if you have to go around people, or if there are obstacles). Automatic laps by position would be great. • Automatic laps by time would also be good to have. Does anyone know how to activate them? Thanks!
FYI, this DOES NOT work with Apple Music. You can download to the watch songs from your computer that you’ve purchased on iTunes only. Does anyone know if this is the same on all Garmins or just this model?
Is the only difference between the FR245 and FR245M the music function and wifi? or does this affect the available storage for other functions (widgets/apps) as well? Nice review though!
bought my fr 245 about 2 weeks ago. GPS accuracy is not good. even worse in a 400m track. Tried glonass and galileo. both are not good. phone apps do a better job in tracking distance. garmin is only rather good if in open sky area and you don't run in loops. the HR monitor is good though, and shows consistent results so far. I might have to pair it with a footpod for better accuracy in tracking distance and pace.
Hi there, First of all tks for the tutorial! I've a question, is that possible to run and after finish the work out the fr 245 show the map thru the gps? I mean, running without my smartphone
I'm really glad you like the tutorial! The fr245 does not have traditional maps with streets or anything like that. However, it will show you a "map" that displays the track you took on your run. You can see an example in my fr 245 navigation tutorial here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lxKQvj0RHno.html The map is shown at around 2:25. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for watching and please consider liking and subscribing!
I have Forerunner 245 Music that I can’t get to work. I tried to connect thru my phone but to no avail. I can only use the watch but other activities such as steps, number hours of sleep, calories burn and so on are not connecting at all. Please I need your help to make my Garmin watch works again as it inspired me to train harder and being cautious of my sleeping pattern.
Thanks for the video, very helpful! I just ordered a 245 Music. Do you know if it tracks steps automatically all day? Or will it only track steps when you start logging an activity (run, bike, etc.)? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for the review. Which would you pick over another 245 music or Instinct? I’m a very active person with conventional sports and occasional hike/trail run. I usually have my phone on me. Being the same price I feel like Instinct is outdated with the sensors it has and probably will see a renewal in January? Thank you.
Dmitry Bondar, I just got the instinct and it is awesome if you do a lot of outdoor activities. The battery is one of the longest lasting in this price point and is very rugged but the plastic does scratch easily as I’ve learned. I think I’m gonna return my instinct for this one because it has music and I don’t mind charging my battery .
Quick question! The Nike Run app can tell you every 1km how fast you ran, average per km etc. This is really neat, especially since it feeds you that via voice. Does the Forerunner do that too, presuming you have earbuds connected?
Bro,,I truly appreciate all of your reviews, there most informative channel in regards to your uploads, I've recommended, but yo,I got to ask you, I'm stuck between purchasing the 245 or the instinct, I'm not a runner, but I do exercise daily, but also my exercises are a bit intense and involve rigorous movement, help me out, which would you prefer?
Thank you for your kind words! Between those two, I would choose the Instinct. It will track your daily exercises and is very rugged. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!
Ok got a question about the instinct, can you set the moon phase as data on the home screen? Is it possible now to download watch faces similar to the 245?
No, the main issue with the Instinct is no access to the Garmin Connect IQ store so no watch faces. Also the moon phase is not available on the Instinct.
Looking a buying a fitness watch at this time I am using Runkeeper app for my running, does this watch sync with runkeeper for the heartrate monitoring or will you have to use the Garmin app?
This helps a lot, but I would still need to join a few garmin watches to get realy what I need. I have one question you said you have run, walk and yoga set up. But I can't imagine what yoga looks like on the watch, it keeps track of what?
Ha, good questions. Really it just tracks the time, HR, and calories burned. I just like to have a recording of my Yoga sessions, so I can keep track of how often I do it. Thanks for watching and please consider liking and subscribing 🙏
Hello! You should be able to open it during your activity by holding down the DOWN button for a couple seconds. Let me know if this works for you. Thank you for watching and please consider liking and subscribing! :)
You must hold Light Button, then is Menu who Music Control is possible (may be You muss this Menu korrekt setting...). This Funkcion is possible allways. Even during no Garmin App... While Garmin App you can easy going to "Home Screen with Watches (with BackButton) and then is komplett Menu available.
Pravin Patil probably not considering the 235 came out in 2015 and the 245 came out in 2019, about a four year difference. Who knows though, they might just come out with something sooner.
2 questions 1) does the performance part of the watch show the training load focus screen as per the Garmin website 245 page? 2) do you need your phone with you when you use Spotify?
I have just walked 9000 steps and 0Kms 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ how is that possible? 😝 I set up my phone but it I am not sure how to start it when I start exercising. Alson my watch shows me I burnt 1250 cal in 1h walking and 9000 step. As much as I want it to be true... It is impossible for me to burn 1258 cals in 1 h walking. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Hi, on the website it shows that the forerunner 245 has a triathlon mode, but it isn’t in any of the reviews I’ve watched. Do you know why this might be? Or how the watch would work for triathlons?
Been a long time but in case anyone is wondering, it’s the 745 and not the 245 that has a built-in triathlon/ multisport mode (I did see you can get a 3rd party triathlon app off of Connect IQ though). The 255 was the first in this series of forerunner watches to have the multisport feature.
Hi Great Video and timeline in the detail. (saves going back and forward) Any chance you can do something on VO2 max. How to initially obtain, then read. Tried following the manual but can't seem to get a result. Keeps coming up zero Thanks
from what I've experienced with my garmin watches you can find the vo2 max very easily in the connect IQ app and its alot better on the phone than the watch
Can I set custom split for my run training? Like if I am running 2.4km on a track I like to see 400m split entries instead of the default 1km split. Is it possible?
WARNING: If you just bought or received your first Garmin Forerunner 245 and are just trying to get accustomed to how to do basic stuff and set up basic stuff for the first time (e.g., how to set or change the clockface display, or get it to come up in the first place, how to get your heart rate to display, etc.), skip this video, because he's just blowing through stuff at 100 mph. I would MUCH rather have a .pdf instruction sheet that gives step-by-step guidance for doing stuff, 'cuz that's where I'm at right now. Once I already get all the basic stuff figured out, then this vid might be a useful refresher, but is NOT for users who are just starting out -- it's like trying to learn to play basic guitar by watching a video of someone who's already a virtuoso playing the solo to "Hotel California" at full speed. No disrespect intended here, just being straight with viewers.
P.S. - Good news, a few minutes after posting my original comment, I discovered that Gauging Gadgets has a shorter "System Settings Overview" video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ye5_5UnqVrQ.html, which is much better-oriented toward newbies. If you just unboxed your Forerunner 245 and charged it & paired it for the first time, I recommend that one as an initial walkthrough. Once you get more comfortable with the device & its idiosyncrasies, then this longer vid will be more accessible to you.
Sorry to hear that. I read about people with that issue on Reddit. I've been lucky and haven't had one crash. Hope they fix it soon. How do you like the 245?
There's an issue with latest FW version. Garmin developers are aware of it. You can either downgrade to 2.60 or wait for the next release Greetings from www.garminforerunner245.com/
IMO it's accurate with when I go to sleep and wake up in the morning. It also seems to do a good job of tracking my sleep through the night, such as light sleep with me tossing and turning or waking up to go to the bathroom. I really like that they have integrated the sleep tracking with Garmin Body Battery, so you get an overall look at how your sleep affects your energy level through the day.
Hello! Yes, the stopwatch shows the milliseconds. Also, if a feature is not exactly how you want it, I recommend checking out the Garmin Connect IQ store. There are tons of custom built apps for these watches that can do a ton of really cool things. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for watching and please consider liking and subscribing!
Gauging Gadgets okay thank you so much for such a swift response! I currently have the vivoactive 3 and it’s been awesome, but as a sprinter its unfortunate that the stopwatch only shows xx:xx So I never know exactly where inside the second I finished, which makes it impossible to track my reps. Knowing this one allows it, makes this a 100% purchase! Thanks for such good information!
No problem at all man. Glad I could help. Just want to clarify the functionality to ensure it fits your needs. The stopwatch only shows the millisecond once a lap has been completed or you pause/stop the stopwatch. It won't display it as its counting. So if you do a lap for each rep or pause it after your reps you should be able to compare the milliseconds. Let me know if I didn't explain this clearly. Thanks!
Gauging Gadgets oh okay that seems to make sense, it’s unfortunate it doesn’t show you as you’re going. But being able to still see after I hit stop is critical! Is there any chance you’re able to do a video on that maybe on your socials if you have an ig or snap??
All you need is the audio files for the book and then you can follow the steps in this tutorial ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-awaGJaL1eD4.html
@@GaugingGadgets Thank you!!!!! Wow - works like a charm. Greatly appreciate your help. Wishing you, your family and friends a Very Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
