I use the S62, I originally found the club distance/stats to be inaccurate because you might hit a tree or hit a pitch or chip with a medium to long iron. I created an additional club on my list of clubs and just named it Other, when not hitting a full shot I choose this club and stats are now more accurate and caddy more reliable.

That’s a good shout - I use my 5 iron for punch shots out of trees and it ruins the yardage

Great advice to everyone! I do the same thing 👍🏻... I labeled it Chip shot... After the round on the app I change the type of club. I have the sensors on my clubs too which help for recording shots.

I’ve got the Garmin Fénix 5X from about 3 or 4 years ago and use that for Golf, cycling, walking etc. Golf option gives distance to front, middle and back of the green, which generally is all I’m currently looking for on my usual course. If I was playing random courses weekly, then distances to trees, bunkers, etc would no doubt be pretty useful. I’ll probably not “upgrade” to a dedicated golf Garmin yet, and stick with my Fénix 5X

I game the S62 and When paired the garmin golf app, you get some great data on your game such as fairways hit, putts per round, club performance. Theres also a swing tempo function and pin pointer for blind holes, this review hardly scratched the surface!

I think you’ve done the watches a disservice with this - when you get further up the range the functionality increases dramatically both for golf and non-golf features. In addition one of the big features is the shot tracking facility and statistical analysis in the Garmin Golf app, if you’ve the S42 or above you can get a lot of good functionality via the Garmin Connect app also. These watches do so much more than front/middle/back and layups….

I have the s20, bought second hand for £50. Not sure why I would want to upgrade. Yardages to green and hazards, scoring my round and tracks my shots to map out my round and measure my yardages. Battery seems to be pretty good too. What else do these offer?

Garmin S 62 has a non-replaceable battery !!!! It's a deal killer for me. if the watch has been sitting in a store display for a year, you purchase it, have it for a year and a day and it stops working ,by by $650.00. In another S62 review the reviewer said the battery was dead out of the unboxing.

Have the S62. Very accurate. But the display doesn’t show trees and details (Sky Caddie is much better). Also, don’t plan on using it for tracking workouts or heart rate, it’s terrible. I use a Polar chest strap for runs/workouts. The Garmin is always way off on run distance, heart rate and calories burned. That said, the Garmin is pretty easy to use, finds courses pretty fast, and (thankfully) the screen doesn’t go black “sleep” every 10 seconds.

Hi Neil enjoyed your Video👍, but felt you didn’t show the feature I like most about my New Garmin S62 watch (3weeks old) all your shots are recorded on each hole you played, so after the round you can look at each hole’s (photo) on your phone see the Distance you hit the Drive & which club you played for your 2nd shot & if it hit the green + how many putts you had, So you can visually check each hole you played in your round at home 👍, The virtual Caddy would get the sack & under clubs on most of the shots, doesn’t gauge wind strength enough 😱,And doesn’t think 🤔 you can hit a straight Drive recommending Rescue’s & fairway woods when you hit Driver’s, Think the caddy doesn’t calculate UK wind’s correctly, That said I love the watch (despite a few teething problems) Thanks Neil Dickey 9hcp 75year Senior Golfer (Sheerness)

Do any of these watches have a battery change facility? I have a Garmin S2, bought as a Christmas present 4 years ago, now it just achieves a full round so has built in obsolescence, for over £300 value for money, don't think so

Don’t know about changing but I have the s62 and have played 3 full rounds two cycle rides and a walk and the battery is still on 23%

No. But you should be able to disable it for competition.

no views, no likes so far.. 43 seconds ago posted? never been that early.. edit: btw, I use a Garmin 935 (triathlon watch) with the golf app on it, and mostly it works perfectly.. just today it rebooted 4 or 5 times on a new (to me) course on the first 5 holes, so I stopped using it and took the range-finder out. In the past it's been very reliable (as in having had issues in maybe 3 or 4 rounds out of a few hundred).

@@Captainelduke it automatically updates every once in a while, so I am unsure when that happened the last time, but given it runs 21.00 which was released a few months ago, this should not have happened yesterday..

This review (test) is way too shallow. It's like watching a Garmin Ad. I was hoping I would learn what the differences between the watches are. Usually a big fan of your videos, but this time it feels rushed and a bit lazy. Sorry.
