Interesting stuff. What I'm not sure about is what we are aiming for and how to change it. I'm not sure you want to think too much about the difference in time on the ground between your R and L, for instance : ) vertical ratio = vertical oscillation / stride length. It's just another way of looking at how much you are going up and down as compared to going forward.

Hi Henry. Yes true. I think some are good to keep track of. Ground contact time could mean over striding if it’s high so we could work on lowering that. If R and L was way off like 45/55 then it would be worth looking at what is causing that, maybe some imbalances or maybe you have a shorter leg 😂 who knows. I think it’s there for fine tuning and my physio said we will start to look at them a bit so I’ll keep updating what he means with it.

Can you do a test to show the difference? Same loop 1 km at a fixed pulse with high vertical, 1 km Same pulse, same cadence, low vertical Oscillation. Are you any faster / what happens to contact time? I have the Garmin strap but my Garmin vivoactive doesn’t support the advanced running dynamics and I’m not sure if it’s worth upgrading. The basic physics would say if you reduce vertical (at the same cadence) you must increase ground contact time.

Good idea, Jon. I’ll see what I can do to test it out when I’m back running regularly. The ground contact time changes a lot on my fast intervals which are 210ms then up to 250ms average and that stays consistent each run so I trust the accuracy. It would be good to put it under more testing to see how it holds up.

Thanks buddy Great review. This is the one I bought. If I play game off football for example and not wearing my Garmin watch will this Still HRM run still pick up everything I've done? That's mate 😊

Thank you very much! No, I would say they have to work as a pair mate. They would if they was in range and connected if your watch was on the side of the pitch but you would have to stay near for the Bluetooth so you would have to wear your watch I’m afraid. Good piece of kit 👍🏼

Lol my bad I should have did proper research into first. But I only paid £30 for it so will always have it. But thank you for the great review ..keep up the good work 👍🏽

@@polobroin901 hey the footballers wear them on the tv so give it a try and see what happens. Thanks

Yeah I must give it a try later see if it can still record even though it ain't connected to the watch. Cheers buddy
