Any idea what battery life in hours with the screen on half the time, making bread crumbs and track up?

I can't seem to get my 700i to let me tap the screen to come back on when in battery save mode. I have to use the power button with pad lock on or off. This is one thing I wanted too. I use it on my motorcycle and do not need the screen on all the time but just having the back light off is a waste of battery.

You are correct, the unit no longer switches back on after pressing the screen. It will more than likely have been a software update from Garmin. This video was made pre launch of the Montana with software that allowed this to work. I hope this helps

@@ukgpstraining well at least I'm not just incompetent. Lol. I was reminding myself of my parents learning to use their first smartphone. Although a bit disappointed, a touch of relief is there too. Haha Thanks

@@brownharr1 -So it is. I'm watching this video for the first time and I made several attempts to turn on the screen in just one touch and it just didn't work. I think my 750i doesn't really accept this shape... I have to resort to the on/off button to turn the screen back on

Dang, seems like a lot of futzing around. I'd love to have a new GPS for when I'm driving around in the backcountry without cell service, but the price of this and all these manipulations just encourage me to stick with my iPhone8 and GaiaGPS. I dislike having to download maps on GAIA for the areas I'll be traveling into, but not enough to pay the price and mess with the Montana 700 settings. Many thanks.

Many thanks for your question. The map set you see in the video is Ordnance Survey 1:50k. In the UK you buy it in when you buy a unit or buy as a standalone map card - gpstraining.co.uk/collections/maps/products/topo-great-britain-pro-1-50k
