Based on your data it seems like using a regular ball for driver and wood shots gives a better result and using RCT balls for everything else is better. Maybe its just a matter of the radar working better with higher spin rates and the estimation algorithm working better for lower spin rates.
Yeah, indoor radar units can struggle with higher ball speeds, especially at the minimum 8-foot ball flight distance. However, I still believe the RCT balls are a worthwhile investment for more accurate spin readings.
Thank you for the video. I have noticed that my r10 will read other golf balls better than the rct. I have set the r10 7’ behind and the impact screen is at 10’. The RCT ball seems to only read the metrics once in a while. I have tried using the rct and metal tape on golf balls. I believe the r10 is accurate but not all the time. How do i get it more accurate? I have the r10 set up the same height as the mat. I love the r10 because of the price. I only paid the price because golf is meant to play outside not inside. Hi, thanks for watching. In my experience, the carry distances measured by the R10 with a regular ball are fairly accurate, depending on the software you're using. However, for sim golf in e6 and GSPro, I've always preferred the RCT ball. Because the RCT ball provides much more realistic spin data (usually more accurate and higher), which translates to better stopping power on wedge shots into the green. I'm actually planning to do a video on setting up the R10 this week! For best accuracy this is what I do.. - Use the RCT ball and the best software you can (Awesome Golf or E6). - Set the device just a little higher than the hitting mat. - I use a laser tape to measure out my distances and put down visual cues on the floor/mat so I know I'm always hitting from the correct distance. - Use a leveling stand for the R10 and a laser for alignment to the target line.
Yeah, in my experience, using the Titleist RCT ball and Awesome Golf software's algorithm provides you with the most accurate data with the R10. Using E6 comes in a close second, though.
Love GSPro. Its algorithm seems just as accurate with the data as Awesome Golf. Unfortunately, GSPro isn't natively supported by Garmin, but hopefully that changes with their next launch monitor.
