@abbybreviewing great comparison! And as always I appreciate your honesty ❤ . I love my venu 2s and dont think I'd use the new features much, I'll pass on upgrading for now thanks for the video.
Thank you for the excellent comparison. What a difference it makes when the reviewer actually has the products instead of just looking up information on the internet as many others do. Keep up the good work.
Super helpful! I keep trying to decide if it's worth upgrading from my Venu 2S to either the 3 or even something higher like all the way to the Fenix. I had the vivoactive3 before and I liked that but also so happy to have the newer features of the Venu. But this makes me think I can hold out at least another year and see how prices drop
I think one of the reasons for the shorter battery life is the display timeout - the screen on the 2S turns off per the timeout settings no matter what screen you're on, whereas the 3S only seems to timeout when you return to the homescreen. Your video shows this difference quite well I think with how much more often you needed to tap to wake up the 2S while the 3S screen remained on. I thought there was an issue with my watch as I had a 2S previously but Garmin told me this is normal on the 3S.
@AHHong-zn7xm hello, they both have the same timeout display options short, med or long, its just a longer duration was on the Venu 3S during the video, actually. You can change this on the Venu 2S if desired.
Thanks for this video. I think I might get the 2s. The 3s looks bulkier and bigger to me in this video and my wrists are tiny. I already have a smart ring to track my sleep and I don't wanna wear a watch to bed so I'm fine with sleep tracking not being great.
Great review on both of these!! I own 2s since 2022 and the mic and speaker on the 3s is really a huge selling point for people that want those with the smaller size watch but I used to own samsung active 3 that has similar features and it only lasted me a year with heavy usage. With this 2s also with heavy usage still is great. Really great.
Thank you for the video! This was very helpful. I was deciding between the two and finally chose the Venu 3s. And it turns out the 3s has more things I want like the new pink colour, speaker, mic and sounds for notifications and stuff. I will for sure use your link! And will the Garmin discount you talked about in your Garmin discount video work on the Venu 3s right now?
I'm glad you found this video helpful! Nice. I hope you enjoy the Venu 3S when you get it 😊. And the discount is not working right now. It usually takes around 3-8 weeks in my experience for the new watches to be applicable for the discount.
Thanks for the quick review. It really does look like the Venu 2S is the best value right now. I’m still enjoying my Vivoactive 4S that I got at a great price a couple of weeks ago. It definitely meets my needs for now.
Thanks for posting a really helpful video. I agree I think smartwatches have peaked and any differences are quite minor now. The ecg if it comes in the future may sway me to upgrade but the 2s is very good in my opinion they both use the same app anyway and at this new price point I don’t think I’ll be upgrading anytime soon. 👍
You've helped me make the decision to buy the Venu 2 rather than the much more expensive Venu 3. I also always have my phone and actually find messages and calls, etc. Intrusive when working out. Thanks
Nice review. I think the big difference (and gimmik) is the voice control and improved mic but like you say you need to have your phone close by anyway. Looking to pick a Garmin watch up for my partner's Xmas I'll see what sales are ahead. I have a fenix 7 and use other Garmin devices so I know Garmin will be my route of choice. Thanks for the review.
Venu 3 is awesome with its new sleeptracking and nap tracking... hrv measure and activity list. For me the rught choice and also ecg is now on board at least in the us... in germany we are still waiting for it 😊
@@AbbyBReviewing yeah only in the Usa for now. I am waiting too. But germany needs more time i think. I dont know why but it gets pain in my neck. I want it now 🤣👍🏼
Hi Abby! This video is the best comparison of Venu 2s & 3s on YT :) I have one question - do both these watches automatically start / detect some activities like walking, running or biking? Would appreciate the answer a lot :)
Hello, me again! I've ended up here because I thought that the Vivomove had HRV until you told me they didn't on your other video! 🤦🏼♀ It seems like this is a better option for more advanced tracking metrics that's still a good looking watch. I was wondering, on the specs comparison chart, what is HRV status? Does only the Venu 3s have HRV, or does it just have a more advanced form of HRV?
Hello! Yes, HRV is only on the Venu 3S. And with all respect, if you dont know what HRV is, you may not want to base your smartwatch decision on just that feature or make it a must-have feature on a watch, lol. However, HRV status = heart rate variation it measures your heart rate variation during sleep, taking into account your physical activity, recovery, sleep, etc. It's supposed to help you understand how your body is dealing with the challenges of life, activity, environment, etc. You have to decide whether that is important to you or not. For me, i dont miss it when i dont have it, and I don't use it much when i do have it. i prefer to look at my body battery data. That being said, i know a lot of people love this feature. It may or may not be important to you.
@@AbbyBReviewing Hey Abby, oh great thank you this helps me make my decision :) HRV is something I know quite a bit about and am definitely keen to get on my smartwatch. Are there any other Garmin watches that are (in your opinion) attractive & feminine that also have HRV?
@AlenaWinter-lf9mz i think the Venu 3S or Forerunner 265S are your best options if you want a Garmin watch with HRV that looks feminine with an AMOLED display.
I know not everyone is comfortable buying used electronics, but right now imho a used Venu 2 is about peak bang for buck with Garmin. You're gonna pay a third of the launch price and get features that sit right between a forerunner 245 and 55 in a case that looks more premium and has the gorgeous AMOLED screen. Sure, you might miss *some* of the running specific algorithms, but you'll gain music storage and still have money left over for a pair of running shoes.
Thank you for doing this comparison! I am trying to decide between the two. Cost is definitely something to consider. I have 2 questions. 1. Do both of these trackers with Bluetooth pare with the treadmill or elliptical at my gym? 2. I don’t need music; is it possible to buy either of these trackers without it for a cost savings? Thank you!
Hello, you can't connect these smartwatches to your treadmill/elliptical to view your data. You could potentially connect it to play the music on your smartwatch cia bluetooth depending on the specific treadmill/elliptical. There is no non music option for these. However, a cheaper non music Garmin watch is the Garmin Venu SQ but it is square has, less sensors, and is made of less durable materials.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I prefer the advanced sensors as I am a heart attack survivor & want the heart rate sensors but need to wait for a price reduction. Maybe the Amazon Prime sale Tuesday and Wednesday will include these watches? 🙂
Really fantastic & super honest review, thanks so much! I'm planning to buy one of these and I think you just convinced me to go for the 2s. Much appreciated Abby, subscribed. ☺
Hello! The Venu 3S is still pretty new, it's not even a year old. I usually do an update, or is it worth still buying video a year or two down the line. The Venu 3S is holding up great! No issues still running as well as when I got it, no reduction in battery life, and not much wear, as most Garmin watches are pretty solid and this ones made of high quality materials, and I've taken care of it. Is there anything else you want to know about it in particular? :)
I have 3 more questions if that’s ok. - Is the vibration strength in the alarm adjustable so you can verify it will wake you up? - Can you set a weekly alarm along with other alarms? - Can you use your phone’s GPS to save the watch’s battery? Again Thank you!
Hi, yes, you change the vibration intensity overall. No, you can't customize it to change for an alarm. Yes, you can set weekly alarms to run on specific day(s). And no you can not do that with the GPS.
hi. Greetings from Korea. Please understand that my English skills are not good. I understand that this product is intended for weight training, but before purchasing, I am curious as to whether it will definitely help with exercise.
Hi, these are not only for weight training, they are great for tracking many activities such as walking, running, yoga, swimming, cycling, tracking steps, calories burned, and more! And great to have you watching from Korea!
The venu watches are nice. It'll do a lot of fitness tracking. For running though, I think you should buy the forerunner line. Get the 255, I don't think the 265 is much different, from watching videos from other people making reviews about the 265. It will track running performance. Such as power output, stride length, among other nitty-gritty stats you might be looking for. You can pair it to a power meter if you have one to measure cycling VO2 max on the bike on the 255.
Hi Abby! I have watched this a few times & keep learning more and more. If I were to buy the 2S which is already over 2 years old compared with the 3S which is brand new, will Garmin continue to send updates to the 2s or will they stop in the next year or so? I’ve never bought a Garmin watch. If they update the Garmin 3S longer than they do the 2S, anyone who buys the 2S now I would think loses out. Is that right? Thanks!
Hello! In my experience, Garmin has been awesome with continuous updates. For example on my vivoactive 4s which came out in 2019 I'm still getting updates now in 2023!
Well done…appreciate the info. Have you ever used the fitness age feature? Just curious if there’s a way to know if it’s accurate. My son has a ‘smart’ scale that said my fitness age was 3 years older than I am. Clearly was basing the data on weight.
Thank you! Yes, I use fitness age have been fore years now. I don't know about the data or analytics that goes into the fitness age calculation, but, as a consumer, in my experience, i think it's been pretty accurate. For example, it initially said my fitness age was my actual age (i thought that was fair, as i execrised 3-4 times weekly, got my steps in daily, eat healthy, and i wasnt expexting it to say im younger as Im not a hardcore gym person, triathlonest or Marathon runner). Also, when I later reduced my working out for a bit (over 2 months), I noticed it bumped up my fitness age to 1 year older than I am. I had gained a bit of weight during the time as well, so I imagine weight and physical activity plays a part in it.
Hi! I mentioned in a previous comment but, I noted the battery life in the spec differences at 04:05 in the video, not much of a difference there so I didn't go in-depth on that in this short comparison.
Hello, I've already compared the Garmin Vivoactive 5 vs Venu 2S here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pu82h5n-Pu0.html feel free to check it out for my full opinion on them, and which one I prefer :)
Hi Abby, i never owned any garmin watch and now considering between these two. I dont need a mic/ speaker and i know specs on venu2s are perfect for me. However, getting the 2s now (september 2024) will it work well and last long? Can you give some advice? Thank you so much!
@springjeanlarny Hello! The venu 2S should last you a long time! It's quite durable, and mine is still getting regular updates now and working well in September 2024. I would recommend getting a screen protector for it, though.
Seems like the 3s is very similar to the 2 plus? Do you think its worth even looking at it if thata what you have? (I always found my plus a bit too big but wanted the features) Great review as always:)😊
They are very, very similar. Some notable differences are 2 sizes options for venu 3 series: venu 3 & 3S(small), only one size for venu 2 plus. New venu 3s features like: sleep coach, nap detection, hrv status, new layout, all system GNSS mode (for GPS), etc. I do prefer the Venu 3S! I like the colour options, smaller form factor option & extra features. I also found the venu 2 plus too big on me, and I have gotten rid of it because of that. The venu 3s has been a worthy upgrade for me. I don't regret replacing my venu 2 plus with it.
I'm so thorn, should I buy the 2s in 2024? it has all the features I need but I worry about it's age. should I just buy the 3s and have more features that I need?
Hi, a smartwatch being older from Garmin, is no big deal in my opinion, they are great with offering updates years and years after release. And as they've been leading the pack in activity tracking, heart rate, and battery life for like 10+ years so even the older Venu 2S is still a great option, especially at the lower price points/going on sale more often compared to the newer Venu 3S.
@@AbbyBReviewing thank you! I went to a Garmin store and they don't sell the 2s anymore! only some retailers do now, and with a big discount! do you still have it? does it work fine?
Do the bezels of these watches protect the glass or is the glass higher than the bezels? It seems that on the 2s the bezel is higher and on the 3s the glass is higher, meaning that the 2s would be more durable. Is this correct?
Hello, the bezela are not raised and do not protect the displays. I always use a screen protector to protect mine. And recommend for others to do so as well.
Both are good! Which is better for you really depends on your preferences and the features you want. I also said which one I prefer in this video as well
Hi Abby, I have another question if you don’t mind. You wrote in a small box in the activity tracking section that we “don’t get workout benefit or recovery on the Venu 2s.” I’m not knowledgeable in workout technology so I don’t know what those 2 things are. Whatever they are, can we still access the workout benefit & recovery data on the app itself? Also, the Amazon prime two day sale was a bust. I think I’m leaning Venu 2s I think mostly because of the price and I’m hoping that on Black Friday or cyber Monday, the price will come down on the white with rose gold. The price on other colors did come down a little bit but not the white with rose gold.
Hello! Workout benefit is a feature that says how beneficial a workout is to you. Recovery is a feature that says how long it should take your body to recover after a workout. These are only the Venu 3S only features that can be seen in the app/on the watch.
Thanks. That’s unfortunate that it’s not on Venu2S. I hope the Body Battery will help with the recovery info. I use the Fitbit Luxe currently so this will be a change. Appreciate your taking the time to provide an explanation especially on a Sunday!
Hi, any watch will get dirty, you just need to make sure your clean it regularly. For ex I wear mine in the shower daily. And occasionally use rubbing alcohol on the band, and thats keeps it clean. You can see the condition in this video here, I haven't had any yellowing, and wear it to workout often.
If my goal is strength training and cardio (im trying to get my body back in shape), which one should I get ? The much cheaper venu 2 plus or the venu 3? I’m using the venu sq music right now, is they any difference between the sq and venu 2/3?
Hello, both the Venu 2 Plus and Venu 3 will work well for strength training, can track your reps and cardio tracking, I would go with the cheaper option personally. Yes there are many differences (check Garmin's website under the specs tab for each watch to review all of them if your interested). But overall the Venu 2 Plus and Venu 3 have many more features, and more durable materials hence the higher price. One feature the Venu 2 Plus & 3 have that can be beneficial to you is a gyroscopes which one helps with more accurate rep counting.
Hi, yes to cadence, no stride length. Neither do stride lengths. you would need a running specific watch for that, like a Garmin Forerunner or Fenix series watch.
Hi again. This is probably a silly question about the watch band of the Venu 2S. How long does it stay white? Do you find that it gets dirty easily and if so, is it easy to clean with soap & water? I ask because that you were comparing your Venu 2 with the currently released Venu 3, I am assuming you like to wear the Venu 2 & have experience with whether the band stays clean. Thank you!
Hi, In my experience all white Garmin bands I've had stay white even after years (like in my venu 2s here) I usually just wear it in the shower or rinse with water to keep it clean
