An excellent review. Handgun, rifle, high velocity and low; you did a great job. Thank you. It looks like my 20 yr old Chrony is going to be retired soon.

Seems like a good compact system.

Nice to see usage for handguns along with the rifles, in addition to using a standing position instead of just a bench rest position.. Well done! I saw one video said it could read the shots out to 1 meter (39 inches) to the side. Did you test how far out you could position the Garmin C1 Pro and results if tested such? I know it's such a 'niche' market, however I do wish they had priced it a bit lower than the LabRadar. Not that I complain of the size, which has been why I have not purchased a chronograph. Definitely after further testing from the public, this could be a game changer for this type of device. Those other company's are going to have to UP their game. Garmin has stole this technology catagory! Best to all!

Thanks man! I didn't really test how far out it would work but I'm assuming that's gonna also depend on the gun. I can say any way that felt "readable" seemed to work. I was about 10" away when shooting the BREN and about 12" away when shooting the 22

I don't understand , was it tested to be used on the gun , will it survive recoil? Or after 100 rounds this garmin internals will fall off , as nowhere I can find on garmins website ststing it's designed to be mounted on the rifle and it can hold up to recoil ! There is a reason it comes with tripod ! I can see it surviving 22 lr or 223 but ....... will garmin void warranty if something goes wrong with it ! Because you mounted it to the rifle

Great question. So i know some of the guys who tested some of the units and holding up to recoil was definitely a consideration. They knew mounts like the cheap camera mounts would encourage people to rifle mount it. Also Garmin was actually encouraging of company's like area 419 to make mounts.. Area 419 tested it on a 300 norma magnum.. I think most people mounting these to rifles will be on lighter recoiling 6mm's or at most a 308. I'm sure it can handle that... they give you the mini tripod because it's what a good majority of people will do. Arca isnt popular enough to sell it with only that .

Where is the velocity measured in relationship with the muzzle?
@PracticallySquared1
@PracticallySquared1 11 месяцев назад
It's at the muzzle. You can plug the numbers from it into a good ballistics solver and as long as your zero is correct and BC is true you can rest assured your gonna be on most/all targets if you do your part.

I've seen another video suggesting it's 20 ft in front of the muzzle.

@@Cosiriusyea that's inaccurate otherwise it wouldn't read the same as my magnettospeed. Being radar I'm sure it takes a few readings and calculates it in some way but you can run the number as an actual muzzle velocity

It is taking the reading anywhere between 5-10' of the bullet leaving the muzzle. I got this from Garmin. I wonder how many Chronographs measure the actual MV?

What I'm saying is as a long-range shooter. We true our muzzle velocity at 600 yd. Everybody in the PRS is going off of what the number. Either the magneto speed, labradar, or now the Garmin is giving you. I get that it may be a few feet off the actual muzzle, but I'm pretty sure the calculator accommodates for that and thus you could take that number and plug it into your ballistic solver as a muzzle velocity
