Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph VS Magnetospeed VS Labradar 

I was thinking the same thing, I have nothing but great experience with my Magneto, I am not a fan of it being strapped on the muzzle and coming loose every 3-4 shots.

I feel your pain brother. I bought the Bulletseeker mach4+ like a day before the Garmin came out. It has been very solid but I do more pistol stuff. When shooting a rifle its great to just qd it to a rifle and go. But for me the Garmin would have worked better and cost half.

I didn't touch the Garmin settings or positioning once, during this entire test. It read out every projectile fired, no matter what was fired. I find that noteworthy.

@primalrights Ya the Garmin is truly impressive from what I've seen so far in reviews. I am planning on running one off a diving board in competition (PRS). Right now, it doesn't seem like anything else is worthwhile in comparison if you're new in the market for a chronograph.

I will not be buying the new lab radar.

I have a Labradar. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. I’ve missed shots mostly due to the misplacement of the muzzle and the shot not recording. I just got a trigger for mine. We’ll see how that works. As for repeatedly resetting the Labradar for those missed shots above 4000fps in this video , the unit has a limitation of 3900fps at the top end. I’m not apologizing for it, you just have to understand each unit’s limitations and features to decide which one you want to use. If I were to buy another one I’d probably get the Garmin as my first choice and then the Labradar as my second. The Magnetospeed while a great option isn’t feasible for me as it won’t work well with rifles that have little to no barrel protrusion beyond the fore-stock (I’m talking about you Mr. SMLE). I still have my Shooting Chrony as a backup.

Personally, I would trust the numbers the Garmin gives. If you notice in my video, the Garmin and the Magnetospeed agreed very closely with each other quite frequently, while the number the labradar gave was often quite a bit off from those two, in comparison. I have had very good luck trusting the numbers the Magnetospeed puts out, and so with the Garmin reading out very similar numbers... that leads me to believe the garmin is fairly adept at providing actual functional muzzle velocities for use in our ballistic solvers. Thanks for your promotion of the CPS on your channel. I'll have to go take a look at the videos. Perhaps give me a call at the shop during the week sometime for a conversation.

@primalrights Thanks for the confirmation! I was noticing Magneto and Garmin very close, likely not enough difference to miss a PRS target if I do my part right! Still working on that 🤣. 4 matches into my journey and working on my mistakes between each match! Lots to learn still of course. I am trying to document it all with a match review video and pointing out what I notice my biggest issues were, then working to correct them before the next match. Then find the next 2 or 3 glaring mistakes I make and work on those. I will get it all pulled together in the next months of practice!! It is fun! I should also tell you, for some reason the video I made about cleaning with rice kinda blew up for me! It was one of my earliest videos this year and I think I need to do an updated, more refined version, but people still find it and comment. I really appreciate that tip you guys gave me when I was very new to this. If I can, I will try to call in to you. Probably have to try next week, though. I work Tuesdays thru Saturdays, my weekend Sundays and Mondays. Maybe I can get a chance to call ya the 8th. I figure everyone will take this Monday the 1st to relax and recharge for the coming year. I do want to get more info on the Prime Where and figure out when I should be looking to add that tool to my bench for added precision. I mentioned it in my last video, where I tried to show the poor man's version by using a caliper to attempt to get pocket depth. Not nearly as accurate I'm sure!! I appreciate your response. In a labratory setting, to verify a piece of equipment, you use the order of magnitude rule. So you find a different piece of equipment that is 10x the capability, and validate the lesser equipment in a controlled setting. Most people won't have that opportunity here, so instead we can take a trusted rifle/ammo combo that is completely worked out and a ballistic solver that has always produced consistent exact firing solutions for it... and plug in the velocity and see what results you get. By shooting enough rounds, you can apply some statistical analysis to see based on real world performance whether the velocities you are seeing are lining up. This is not something really easy for inexperienced folks to do, as the real world results could be affected by any number of variables, and the result could be easily clouded by incorrectly operating the ballistic solver. The way I've performed this test, is a good strategy. You get a bunch of chronographs, and run them all at the same time, then use the numbers from the ones that closely agree with each other. ;)

So, is it "accurate" (how do you like the way I put that in there) to say that since the Garmin appeared to be the data that the other two appeared to follow that the Garmin would be the most "accurate"

@@briandoody4954 I’d readily trust the number the garmin gives at this point. It was always right with the magnetospeed, which until now, was the gold standard.

Thank you so much for your video and input. I currently have a Caldwell chronograph but will have to save up for the Garmin. I reload my own ammo and have redesigned my approach and want to start monitoring velocities. Thank you again.

Yeah well… I can get 50+ firings on my brass at that speed. So be like everyone else and run it at 3450 and throw your brass away after 5 firings if you want.

I am blessed to be far away from other shooters, so I can't give you first hand accounts. However, I've seen many reports of people at very crowded ranges that have had very positive results with the Garmin.
