I give most animes a chance even if they are rated badly lol, I've liked quite a few that aren't rated 8-9 out of 10

I never played a Fromsoft game before Sekiro and after that I just had to play the rest, the experience just suck you in to the entire ecosystem. I was like a crack head constantly looking at my download bar on Elden Ring during the release day.

Consider just making a new account, the current free trial is up to the end of first expac, so you'd really know by then if the sub is worth it by then. My, random internet guy, two cents is the game is worth the sub. No in-game microtransactions (there is a cash shop, but its hard to find and not in game), no pay to win, no ingame ads or other mmo bullshit like WoW and GW2 has; it's basically a giant classical single player game lol. The Sub keeps stuff like an abusive cash shop, like how CoD has, at bay. Lesser of the two evils, ya know?

it's definitely the best MMO on the market right now, but I just wanted to put in my two cents because everyone seems to recommend it as "one of the best mainline FF stories in the whole series" and that's why a lot of people get into it, and to that I have to say: no it's fucking not. I've finished all of Heavensward and started on Stormblood a few months ago, and I think the story is extremely mid and in most cases not praise-worthy. There are a TON of terrible writing choices and huge swaths of the game have zero cohesion to the rest of the story and are awfully paced. There are individual moments I would say were very impactful, and I think the dialogue is very well-written, but most of the characters never really took off for me and many of them I actively despise for how the writers sometimes make them do things that are completely out of character for them. If you go into it with the mindset of "what a fun MMO, I hope the story is able to make me feel something eventually, but if not, oh well, let's go unlock some new classes!" you will have a great time. If, however, you go in listening to the hype about this crazy well-written story, you will absolutely be disappointed. I am sure there are millions of people who would love to downvote this comment and are furious that RU-vid doesn't show how many downvotes a comment has so they can be proven right, but I will stand on my opinion that this game's story is a solid 6/10.

@@Tohlemiach Honestly it's hard for me to care about a story in an MMO to begin with. I hate when stories are told through walls of text by an NPC. I ain't reading that. And pretty much all MMOs are just that, walls of text about the story. At least 14 has some cutscenes, but I'm not interested in the story at all to begin with.

@@Tohlemiach You haven't played Shadowbringers, that's the expansion where people said it's one of the best FF stories. Also it's ok to have an opinion that is different from the majority, that doesn't mean others are wrong for thinking it's one of the best.

@@Exel3nce Sorry to hear that. Don't know how your approach to the game was, but I decided to just try and see how far I could get, then I would go back and improve my runs on older levels to see how many years I could cut off to have more to work with on the final stages. I also took some breaks to make sure I didn't get too frustrated. Looking up youtube videos I also found some tips on what Upgrades to aim for, so I used that to my advantage as well. Don't know if this will help, but I really wanna try and help more people enjoy this game if possible even though I know it won't cater to everyone's tastes.

i never got platinum until elden ring

I generally agree with this train pf thought. If a game has a below a 5, then something in the game really pissed off the fans( usually glitches or micro transactions) and I stay away from it. However, I must admit that I didn't follow that rule for elden ring since the critic score is much higher than the user score and I bought the game anyway. Don't regret that decision one bit.

I follow steam reviews more than metacritic, found some bangers that way.

@@dominant2576 Game is nothing compared to original. "Reviewers" gave it a very high score. While many players didnt even bother finishing the game because the story was an absolute backstab to the original. Play last of us 1 and then the sequel you will understand. 93 critic score vs 5.7 user score

@@dominant2576 I don't want to sound rude but did you seriously compared the sales of game which was released in 2013 with a game that released in 2020 and expected it to make somehow sense? do you know the concept of time? besides the 4 millions you are speaking of are from the first 3 days after launch. for example TLoU1 sold "only" 1.3 million in the first WEEK.

Story is ok (to me) but everything else was Fantastic. Even if the story isn’t the best (to me), I still give it a 9/10 minimum.

@@egeorgiades93 Thats a good take. I have the same exact thought for people who say they hate the story. The game play is so fantastic it shouldn't matter. Like the movement is so fluid and realistic is ridiculous.

@@Revealingstorm. Usually Story matters with me but because the gameplay and graphics are just so amazing, you almost forget about the story and just enjoy the world you are in.
