Hi Mr Lindenas, I spent a whole day fighting that gear, I was afraid to use too much force and ruin the mechanism. I used alcohol trying to dissolve the grease-glue. Finally, exhausted, I give it up. Went to bed and next morning I saw your video showing your battle. Inspired, I decided to use a little more force, and to my surprise, after a night in alcohol, the gear finally surrendered. I want to thank you for your helping video !

Very informative video(s) to follow along to! Picked up an HMV console from the 60s that had a Garrard 3000 in which is playing slightly slow... I found the Idler wheel had been chewed up by someone bodging the spring that's directly underneath; there was a sharp bit of spring damaging the wheel so I've snipped that and sanded down the wheel. The raceway was tricky for me too but i put my girlfriend's hairdryer on the middle for a minute and it slipped off (lucky me!) With that off, I was able to access the bearings and found that they're caked in place so the balls don't roll. Just going to tidy that up and see what difference it makes!

I like your style. You are way more relatable than some of these guys for whom everything goes perfectly the first time. Does it help to talk to the turntable? : )

most garrards and bsr as well as other gear driven automatic functions on turntables have a shaft with sleeves that are able to move freely .

never use a prying action is just as you say to always use low heat and that is what I always do so I do not ever shift any parts out of alienment you should put a flat bladed screwdriver on both sides of the cam and apply pressure evenly on both sides then it will come up easier the center sleeve is suppose to move it is a bearing for the cam gear to move against great job

some advice when you do this you need to first have two wide blade screwdrivers and put each on opposite sides from each other and then apply heat and as soon as you do push down on each screwdriver and then wiggle there is a collar that is around the center shaft sometimes and that rotates to prevent the grease from sticking to the permenant shaft garrard makes the shafts that have a sleeve over the shaft to reduce friction on the parts

You really need a "puller set" from Harbor Freight to remove that gear ballancer

I think using spoon and either side and push it evenly and should come out if at all possible. Otherwise a help from google who knows everything will make it done safely.
