Thank you. I'm lucky that the beach is only 6 hours away from me, but I only manage to get down there once a year for vacation. I love that easy digging :)
great video. Looks like you had a lot of fun with your family there on the beach and from what I can see I know you had to work hard for it but it looks like you had some pretty nice finds there.and I hear where you're coming from with the bad weather man it's been raining and cold here in Arkansas and I haven't been able to get out and metal detect along the riverbanks much here lately either looking forward to some warmer days so I can get back out there. Anyway you take care and keep up the great videos.
I was testing against my E trac. Covering the same ground with both. The AT Pro was fine. I seldom detect the beach, once a year or so on vacation. One of the hot wheels cars was close to a foot deep in very wet sand. The hole filled with water after the first scoop. I think the AT goes deeper in the sand than some give it credit for. Several coins, pull tabs, and other stuff was found at over 6 inches in the wet. I'm sure there are better machines for salt, but the AT did better than expected.
You should South Beach in Miami Beach, Florida. My wife and I usually get about 40-50 coins in two hours.... We have maybe a total of 200 hours of hunting on that beach. Yes, we use AT Pro's also in and out of the water. My opinion, the AT kicks butt over the Excalibur (yes I had one of those too)
Glad to see good performance in salt water. I have a new jersey trip next week n a 3 week metal detecting trip to the Philippines in January including underwater cave detecting n a few 16th century churchs. Even get to tryout the new 360 camera. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for watching. I feel that the AT Pro is on of the best values out there for the money, and I've tested quite a few machines. Good luck with your detecting :)
I am from Daytona Florida area, and the sand down there has Zero minerals in it basically. At Pro does just fine anywhere down there. AT Pro works great up here in Jersey as well. I really like it a lot. Good luck !
Thanks man. The beach was fun, but the sweet old coins are in the old parks and home sites. That ring was fun to find. I was hoping to get lucky and find some gold.
I've only been to a beach twice. Once the Outer Bank's and once along Lake Erie. Because there are not as many signal's as there is in a Park, my CTX got HEAVY. I'll take the dirt anytime for finding coin's. The Beach.gives up the jewlry..good for you on that ring find..nice.
Oak Island is my neck of the woods, I live at the beach next over.. Holden Beach area... I never find anything great at the beaches, Maybe that cuz I only do the dry sand. I only have a Ace350... I am working getting a ATpro soon...
Cool. I only get down there once a year. I wish I could detect the beach more often, such a relaxing environment and the sand is so much easier to dig than this rocky mountain soil. I'm sure eventually you'll find a nice big gold ring :) Good luck out there!
Yeah, some of those family type beaches seem to have few targets. I'd like to hit one of the popular spring break party spots. I'm sure there would be some good stuff there, and a ton more beer caps!
I also use the ACE 350 AND IT WORKS GOOD IN WET SAND. Turn sens down a little. I find a LOT of great stuff in the dry sand. Six gold rings at Virginia beach this summer and around 30 dollars in coins. Remember that's where people take off their cloths and put things in their pocket. I use the GARRETT SEA HUNTER IN SALT AND FRESH WATER THATS A THE PI DETECTOR BUT YOU WILL DIG A LOT
The head fones that come with at pro , were the fine cable goes in the top of the head fone put some rubber sealant as for neoprene waders aqau shure , to seal cable in iv had had mine out in heavy rain no problem
I did have a coil cover on and the disc at 30. The Disc setting was just the same as I use on land to cut out the tiny iron bits. I had to clean out the coil cover after hitting the sand, a little managed to work it's way in there. Good luck with your detecting, and thanks for watching :)
Gene, I am still impressed with what you found, but go back to that same beach tomorrow with a detector better designed for salt water disc and you will be astonished at what you missed! Good Video Buddy.
Thanks. I know what you're saying. The At Pro will get by for hunting on vacation, but if your a serious beach Hunter you would want something else. Thanks for watching.
James Stanton I doubt it. I've hunted Carolina beaches and Gulf Coast beaches with the AT Pro,Whites,DFX and V3I and the AT pro finds as much as multi frequency detectors. May not work that way on other beaches but the ones I've tried it has. I'm not sure why you think he missed anything when th machine isn't acting up.The beaches I've hunted in the Carolinas have been surprisingly clean.
Very nice video. Did you have a cover for the coil on it? It was hard to tell just by looking at it. I noticed you had the Discrimination up to 30. Did you leave it that way the whole time? Just wondering. I haven't had mine on the beach yet but have had it in fresh water. I know, too many questions! LOL Anyway, thanx so much for sharing that and "keep er swingin" GL
mine works great in salt water live here in Fla hit the beach all the time. Wet sand dry sand ect never had a problem yet detecting in the salt water and no false signals just proper GB
I live in abroad now and have the beaches all to myself. People look at me crazy for detecting. They ask if i'm a marine biologist or many others. Point being, the AT pro does very well in salt water areas. Wet sand and salt water .. and i've tasted the water, that is water you can boil some peanuts in. As stated above, other MD's better suited for it but this machine works pleasantly.
Hello Friend! ami I happen to indicate 80 points on the screen with a depth of 8 inches but when I dig I can go down a lot but I never reach the object, is it a false signal? in Argentina that behavior happens a lot and I do not know how to avoid those false signals, it always does it in wet sand, in dry sand it works wonders!
Detector 79 It must be a false signal. You could discriminate out that area when searching the wet sand. You would lose targets in that ID range, but you could still find gold and large silver. 80 for me is usually small copper.
ahhh you say discriminate that rank! it's a good idea! I discriminate from 0 to 35 for the common steel but it had not occurred to me to discriminate high values! because the lead, some silver, copper sounds in that range but well, it will be better than nothing! Thank you!
keep that on pro but put it on zero....to dig on a beach,i always do and maybe change the frequency to stop that chatter but its hard cause at-pro's hate salt water, even wet spots
Try just ground balancing in all metal mode instead of custom mode. You will get the best results. I was at a salt beach, touched the sand and water, no falsing.
Numisaccent up in nyc bronx area i tried all the areas zero, custom coins, reduced the ground balance manually after trying auto, reduced the sensitivity, dis to 38 and the machine would not quiet down at all then when it rested on the wet sand ( clean out the scoop) it would go really crazy. Thinking about a pulse machine for salt water. Everybody needs two machines. ( if you can afford them) LOL LOL
The AT pro is not very beach friendly, saltwater enviroment is not where that MD shines, I'm sure you missed tons of targets and depth was somewhat minimal, hey I'm not saying your MD is bad, its not just beach intended, if you like the beach and hang around there MD'ing I'd recommend a beach machine, Xcal2 from minelab is a killer machine and waterproof! GL & HH !
Hello friend I ask you a question, I have the same equipment as you, and I find the same effect as your samples in salt water, the team goes crazy, and shows different numbers sometimes without even moving the coil, and makes it impossible to use it in Wet sand or submerge it, how do you do to avoid this problem of false signals? I have tried to discriminate ranges but it does not solve the problem since it is not about ranges but false signal, it is not solved changing frequency or lowering sensitivity, how do you do so that it detects real targets in water?
I’ve been having problems with my AC pro for eight years on the beaches of California Southern California there’s so much black sand the machine just goes crazy I don’t know if anything is there it’s just disco crazy but the dry sand works great couldn’t ask for anything better the drive sound anyway good luck
I just used my AT Pro for the 1st time. Had alot of false readings. could it be the sand was really large grained and lots of diff colors of brown and blacks. Beach had really thick sand. could this be the reason guys? maybe lots of metal frags
Henry Schnur A lot of black sand could be the problem. It can cause some false signals as it's magnetic. It can help to raise the discrimination up a bit just above the coil area, and drop the sensitivity a bit.. It should calm it down a bit and you'll still be able to detect some good stuff.
It works good for a single frequency detector on the southern beaches I've been on. It will ground balance to salt and it worked submerged also. Just dont expect depth like a 3030 or excal.
Someone told me to buy a minelab cos i4s better for saltwater and said that the at bro wasent good fro the beach and you are doing it with the at bro so was he lying to me?
I have the same problem. I turned off iron audio, which helped with the chatter, but still got a ton of false target signals. I have only detected on Southern Oregon beaches so far. I hope to try So Cal beaches in the near future when I visit my parents, so we'll see what happens.
i am thinking of buying a at bro but am not convinced 100 pesent cos i whant it for spain for the saltwater also countryside can samone advise me which one i should buy plz?
+Jason Avellano I have the pro machine and couldn't get the machine to operate in the ocean in the north east USA. I had to drop the dis and the sen so low it was operating like a 95 $ machine . It works great on dry land. I have the 3030 for the water which is great in water and land.
Gregory M My ctx 3030 didn't perform and better in the wet sand for me than my AT Pro. I ended up selling it because it wasn't worth the money I paid to me.
Not exactly sure about max depth, but I did find some coins and pull tabs in the 6 inch range. Most single frequency VLF detectors lose some depth on the wet sand, but the AT Pro seemed to do pretty good.
I use silicon shock oil for Rc cars on the gaskets of my AT Pro. I found it at my local hobby shop. I apply a very thin coating with my fingers. It doesn't break down the gaskets and should keep them in good shape for a long time.
That is why life is made of choices. Choose not to watch. I unfortunately have not had time to detect in a long time. But anyway just watch something else.
