Glad you got it back fam . Very clean monte . I daily my regal and when I go to Walmart Is when I worry the most . I try to avoid goin places where I can’t see it when it’s park
First 2 cars I ever owned were an 83 monte and 84 monte ss. The 83 was written off twice (not by me), rebuilt and cloned after the first accident, and then written off the second time 2 days before going for paint. Used the insurance money to buy the 84 ss. The 84 ss was the same colour as yours, had a rebuilt 327, was fast and loud. Worst mistake I ever made was selling that car. Happy to see you got yours back and that it's in good shape.
I'm glad you got it back in one piece except for the steering column. Very nice Monte. With events like the Power Tour they should have someone watch the cars at each hotel.
My little sister has basically the same setup the only difference is hers is the LSX454 I have a 87 Grand National with a LS9 but after seeing everyone and their mother that has LSX setups so I’m switching to Pontiac setup with a single Precision Gen2 118MM Turbo To play in the streets. Great video.
Man your lucky to find your car. I had an 87 Monty SS stock and it got stolen twice. Haven’t seen it since. You can’t own those here in So Cal. Nice car man......👍
Carried my battery up 3 flights of stairs everyday for 2 years apartment..Thief's still broke my column but always left empty handed 😁😁...Glad you got it back Monte Carlo SS is definitely in the right hands!!!iii
Nah I believe even sooner, with all those great 60s-70s era Chevys being so expensive guys are already turning to these G-body’s as an alternative. DSE is smart to start making suspension for these because we are going to see more em soon, same with those unpopular sedans.
Column lock by lok-itt part number P300. It stops them from breaking the column and pushing the rod that starts the car. Great deterrent,it really slows thieves down, makes them work harder for the car.
those are junk. have a custom one made that runs down the side into the dash. you can steal them with the other one as the knob where the rod connects is on the side by the dash and easier to get to than the way they stole yours. get a good alarm with keypad that tells you when somebody messing with your car.
Sucks to go through all of that bullshit but it adds to the charisma of the car's story. Good thing there's a lot of good people involved with the car, especially the owner! Enjoy that SS! Well deserved!
My’84 SS is a Arizona car. Bench seat, yes I said bench. I’ve had it for decades. Money is ok so now it’s time to start project. Would love your engine and suspension. Grand kids will be happy in 10 to 15 years.
The Monte SE was under-powered, but so cool. Back in 97 I lived in CT and bought an 87 SS that was fairly nice. Some jerk keyed it so I had it resprayed (properly). Thankfully the insurance covered 85% of the cost. After one brutal winter and no garage I made the decision to sell it. I have always wanted to buy another SS and when my 85 Mercedes 500 SEC is exactly the way I want it I will start looking into the best way to get myself an SS. I now live in NC so Detroit Speed is just a few hours from me.
Love it! I'd love to see someone take a Malibu wagon, some El Camimo doors, windows, jambs, & aft sheetmetal and build a modern Nomad/panel. It would also have a Monte SS nose. It would be a Battle of the Builders winner for sure! If I had the stack I'd be calling DSE!
I’m always shocked to how people steal such heavy moded cars. The I vest thousands but they don’t invest in an alarm? A kill switch? , like what did it lack that made it that easy to drive off with a fully custom car?
My wife and I had are 88 SS/MC stolen from in front of are home, the cops found it half way in a river after they had a high speed chase, had all of the front suspension knocked off from jumping a median and curbs, the T-tops where busted, that's how the low life bastards got in. It was a P.O.S. from that point on.
