i still dont understand how Gordon made Gary look so easy at ADCC. My guess is Gary grossly underestimated Gordons ability to keep position and capitalize on it
Garry is the reason Gordon exists. Tonon has been focused on MMA for the last 2 years, Gordon has for the last never. Gordon outweighs him by about 50 lbs. but most importantly, they're from the same place, via Brunswick or the cellar, so I can't imagine any underestimation.
@@BrendanDormanMMA although Gordon does outweigh Gary by 50lbs and Gary has also been training MMA for the past 2 years, I still don’t think that was the reason Gordon beat him so easily. Gordon’s slow and methodical style was the perfect counter to Gary’s movement and scramble focused style. As soon as Gary gave a shred of back exposure from his fast attempt into a leg entanglement, Gordon immediately capitalised and took his back. It also did probably help Gordon from training with Gary for so long.
Or maybe Garry figured gordon had a better shot at taking gold in absolute so they put on more of a show vs an all out match. Not saying the result would be any different but I highly doubt they were giving it all they had.
