First saw this man when I was 8 years old. 1995 in Murfreesboro, TN. I'm 29 now, and I have still never saw a live show that touches the show he put on that night. It was all in his facial expressions. Yea sure, the running around stage, swinging over the crowd on a rope, climbing damn near to the ceiling on another rope, getting shot out of the floor about 8 foot in the air for the encore was all pretty awesome too. He was the first artist I ever called my favorite. I still love his songs as much now as I did then. I've moved on to more of the classics like Waylon, Merle, Hank, George Jones and so on, but he's still right there.
@@mattleonard5773 you mean him and Ty England who wasn't only his guitar player but his close friend and old college roommate. And they made a deal that whoever became famous first the other would be part of their band until they got a record deal.
Great Song!! I'm Currently 56yrs, and can Still Remember when this song came out, It surely is Just A " Good Old Country Boy" song, that you could HONESTLY not Help yourself to " Singing Along to It " and also Really Remembering, all of you're Friends *( way back when )* in Yesterday and in Low Places.!!🐎
Love this song, Remember one night out at the bar with my cousin and aunt I played this song and the whole bar went crazy, we were all singin together dancin, it was awesome. Love me some Garth Brooks.
May 21, 1998 - Garth Brooks' "No Fences" becomes the first country album certified for shipments of 14 million copies!! This is song #5 off that awesome album! :)
I hated country as a kid. Probably cuz my parents made me listen to it in the car all the time. I'm 28 now and I've finally started to like it and this old 90s country just brings back memories. Weird... lol. I can now say that Garth is good. Lol
I'm the same as you, I used to dislike a lot of my parents music when I was younger. I'm now 18 and listen to a lot of the stuff they used to play in the car when I was younger.

Me too. Came from a small town where our gym class consisted of square dancing lol but now that I'm older and the world has gone to crap, I miss and adore these songs.
Love this song. It is cheeky and ironic, with such a witty title that has been screaming to be brought to life ever since the expression "friends in high places" was ever uttered...
To this day, I laugh myself to the floor from remembering the day my uncle sang this at my aunt's wedding. He showed up uninvited by the bride, but was invited by the groom since they were buddies. We all had a ball, but she had none of it and whined the whole night about him ruining her wedding. To be fair, the wedding was dead UNTIL he cranked up the speakers and had started singing. She ended up getting divorced four more times, and he only showed up that one time, however our family made it a point to sing this during her wedding. We just all really didn't like her attitude to people (She was always very rude and inappropriate). You can't just NOT sing this song.
Driving from Northern Ontario to Toronto(over 25 years ago) i was listening to the radio. There was to be a new radio station the next day. So 24 hours before they came on air officially, they just played this song over and over and over.
I remember when I first started to listen to garth Brooks music in the 90s and by 1995 I went to my first Country concert. I was nervous because I had only been to Rock concerts. Well Garth put on an amazing show in fact he would tease the crowd into a craze. To bad he doesn’t do anymore Concerts because I would be going.🎉
This song has brought me back to high school. 2000. I was a freshman. We had a juke box in the commons area. My friend was a country boy. A joker for sure. He'd play this every Friday morning and sing to the tables full of girls and friends. It was so awesome. I'm a metal head myself. But I do like a lot of different music even classical. I think everyone has friends in low places. And that's definitely ok 👌. As long as your a good person
I'm sorry I must be insane, to my eyes there has not been a comment since 2016 here. I do have to admit how I have sadly only heard this song in the past 4 months of 2020, but i have never so impressed by a music video. What I just saw was a live performance with the staging & finesse of a Broadway venue, the effort & momentum of a live concert, and the energy of a music video
I got to see Garth and his lovely wife on two occasions both in Ohio Richland county fair and Ashland County Fair. That was when Mansfield was still a decent town!
This song takes me back to my high school years. I was a sophomore when this came out. All the drunken cowboy parties I'd go to and this song was always playing. Aww, the memories,m. What I wouldn't do to go back in time.
Their isn't a spec. Of hatred in this man's voice, but racist will say it's all about "them". Unselfishness IS God and God IS created under ONE heaven; ONE hemisphere!!
I could sing the chorus of that song all day long. I've got friends in low places! Where the Whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away! And I'll be okay! Yeah! I'm not big on social graces think I'll slip on down to the Oasis! Oh I got friends in low places!
Just putting this for my own personal use. Blame it all on my roots I showed up in boots And ruined your black tie affair The last one to know The last one to show I was the last one You thought you'd see there And I saw the surprise And the fear in his eyes When I took his glass of champagne And I toasted you Said, honey, we may be through But you'll never hear me complain 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places Well, I guess I was wrong I just don't belong But then, I've been there before Everything's all right I'll just say goodnight And I'll show myself to the door Hey, I didn't mean To cause a big scene Just give me an hour and then Well, I'll be as high As that ivory tower That you're livin' in 'Cause I've got friends in low places Where the whiskey drowns And the beer chases my blues away And I'll be okay I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places X2
