I suddenly lost my wife at Christmas 2016. At her Memorial service I asked Allan Blasco front man for the Kansas Hall of Fame Band, Riverrock to perform this song. He was so Beautiful and watered our eyes. I think it was so appropriate as she and I didn't have much but we had each other and we made it through some tough years. Same here.... I had to say goodbye to my FURBABY SPORTY in 1/30/2009 and I was in so much unbearable pain I did not know how I could go on without him. I was driving home , dreading the part that I will be coming to an empty and cold house, without him waiting for me at the door. I never heard the song by Garth Brooks before. Suddenly the song "The Dance" by Garth Brooks played on and I immediately realized it was a message from beyond the grave, my Baby Boy Sporty who used to love to sing along with me in the car. He loved to go for rides in the car, sitting or standing on the passenger seat and singing along with me and the radio. I knew then he was there with me telling me that I could have missed all the pain of losing him, but I would also have to had to miss the beautiful love and life we shared together. The song brings tears to my eyes every time, but also it gives me some peace and eased the pain as I try to hang on .....until we meet again.

All of a sudden these little hands covered my eyes from behind me... It was her... Somehow she talked her stepfather into letting her come... I turned around and we hugged... The guilt of looking at another person and wanting to be loved is hard to deal with. You don't want to do anything to interfere with the memory of the one you lost. I still think of my former wife daily but, I thank God that I was given the opportunity to find someone that shared the same pain that I did. We both allow each other to remember the past. She never had a leg to stand on after that. I would have met you but I didn't know you were coming into the jury room after the trial and I left because I was having trouble with my leg and actually had to go to ER the day before because it was hurting so bad. I have always regretted that I never met you. I so love your music. I lived in Inola at the time and always wished I knew where you lived. You have been my go to for music forever. 1year ago, my best friend of 50 years, passed away in her sleep. Kathy had some health issues she struggled with. When she passed away, this song immediately came to mind. It's so true. I would have loved for Kathy to be pain free, but maybe it would have been missing the dance. I lost my almost 16 year old daughter Erin back in July 1997. We were in a very serious car accident. My 14 year old nephew was diagnosed with leukaemia that same year . He planned his own funeral service and asked that they play “The Dance”. He passed away 6 weeks after my Daughter passed. That song has so much meaning for us! Thank you Garth!

I was in a relationship f from early teens until my late 20s my partner was my everything. We are both members of the salvation army and both worked with children teaching music and vocals. We often were invited to other churches to both lead services and sing \ play . We wrote our own stuff and freely gave the church's permission to use them. Wedding was planned everything was good. In the Saturday night we had done a two hour concert in another army corps. On the Sunday morning I was leading worship in same corps while he went to home corps to do the same. Sunday evening he pulls me aside just as meeting is about to start he tells me he is leaving the next morning moving 4 hundred miles away with a married friend who had 4 kids. He had known her 6 months she knew nothing about me. I made a point of letting her see me in shock. Halfway through the meeting after choir sing as I moved back into my place in the band almost in tears he tried to grab my hand as I shook his away I noticed my engagement ring one he had designed and his father a jeweller had made for me I stopped dead and with everyone including her though I didn't know that at the time I looked at it took it off and handed him it the gasp was audible he forgot where he was forgot everyone was watching and fell at my feet begging me to keep it. His dad also played in the band and as the bandmaster quickly foot band to play he grabbed us both and dragged us out. His son said nothing so I told him what happened. He took the ring from son and handed it to me saying I made this for you because I love you and wanted you as my daughter in law this will never be given to anyone else take it and when your ready come to me and I'll reset and redesign it for you . He then walked back and informed everyone in the hall of how his son had behaved. He did leave next day. I later married another bandsman who had been his best friend 20 years later he came home and asked to meet he told me he had been miserable since day he left and other comments in similar vein. I walked away I agree had I known I could have walked away before it happened but as the song says if have missed many good years of beautiful memories no i m glad I never missed that dance
My husband and I met with this song. It started with a dance. If you really knew what this song really means, you would know what this song really means. My husband and I started our lives with a dance. After 49 years the dance ended but it started with the dance. It didn't hit home until he went home to the Lord. This song is very prophet. God told me everything happened because of the dance. HE told me that it wasn't us that started with the dance but HE ordained"the first dance.". It's been almost a year and a half ago since he went home to the Lord but it all happened with the first dance. My husband thought it was him but God showed me that it was HE that started the dance with me and my husband.
